Someone mentioned that the reason they went out so late in October was due to a bunch of employment visas that would have been released start of October that they had to schedule, so maybe if that’s true we can hope they we will back to scheduling the immediate family immigrant visa appts the third week of the month. And hopefully before American thanksgiving for this month. Fingers crossed!

You should get one in the next round though. I’m aiming/hoping for around Nov 15 for the next batch of ILs. I’m DQ Aug 23 though, so I’m kind of on the edge there. I really hope I’m not still in the dark in Dec, I might lose it by then.

The consular operations website was updated today, it now says as of today they were scheduling people DQed in August. Did anyone get an IL today?

Following because I have the same question. I think you can pick a post office location pickup instead of courier to your friends house, I just don’t know if the pick up location has to be in your city and what they need for proof for pick up? So you could maybe pick a Montreal pick up location, that’s what I was hoping I could also do.

It’s strange because some of the biggest corporations in the world invest in tech to save themselves money in the long run, but when it comes to government, it’s just pure cost on top of keeping the same amount of manual process and people. And this is the result you get, slow moving processes with limited visibility. I get that immigration is a privilege, I do not assume to think it’s a right for me. But governments being ineffective and bureaucratic is something everyone just accepts and never challenge or even imagine it would be possible to change.

I’m not an expert in that type of tech, but with AI and a good CRM platform it could reduce the need for human eyes and manual steps considerably. And scheduling could be totally automated.

Why don’t they invest in technology to automate some of these processes and speed it up? With the technology we have available right now, I feel there is no excuse for how slow and awful the user experience is for everyone involved.

They don’t have any accountability, so they can get away with a really crappy process and service levels. Who’s going to force them to make the immigration process better? No one cares but the people trying to immigrate. They want it to be complicated and slow.

Me neither!! Which sub reddits do you check? I was looking at USCIS and Nationalvisacenter. I found threads in both those from people DQ’ed in July saying they haven’t received anything this month. So annoying. Why are they skipping a whole month???

Positive thoughts that this week a round of ILs go out. I don’t expect I will get one this month, but I just want to know that they haven’t skipped a whole month at least!

Agreed. Hopefully they make an update to the website next week so we don’t have to guess at what’s going on, it’s so frustrating.

Wouldn’t they still schedule appts this month but just make appts for Jan if they are shut down for December? Does that mean everything is now paused until after Christmas?

I check this page and they have an update on immigrant interviews they are scheduling based on DQ month under the second Q) bullet https://ca.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/consular-operations-updates/ our DQ dates are close, mine is Aug 23.

I’m assuming they do, but probably have a shutdown around Christmas which makes it a shorter month with less appts available.

I’m also wondering if October letters have gone out yet. Should be this week I think. I keep checking the Consular Ops website, but the last update is still from September.

I haven’t. My DQ date is Aug 23 though, so as much as I wish mine would come this month, I think it’s more likely to be next month.

Ok cool thank you. If I was DQ’ed on August 23rd would it be realistic to expect my IL around 3rd week of November? The website says they are scheduling 2 months out from DQ dates so that’s what I was estimating for best case scenario.

Do they send one batch of interview letters out per month? I thought I read somewhere that they all go out on the 3rd week of the month, but I can’t remember if that’s accurate.

Thank you! I got my immunity tests back already (super fast) and I show immune for HepA and HepB so I assume I don’t need to do anything for those. For MMR the only result I got shows as Rubella IgG and as being immune. So I assume that result covers all of MMR since it’s a combined vaccine? I guess I only need a tetanus booster and a flu shot, I don’t have the documents for my initial tetanus series but I assume just the recent booster will suffice.
