  1. We find ourselves here after raising 3 kids in Toronto for the last 16 years. Due to an illness in my wifes family we had to uproot and start this ridiculos process.

When I met my wife we decided to start a family in T.O instead of L.A and it literally took us 3 months before this girl got her PR, her SIN, her drivers license....health card....etc. etc...if we would of decided on LA.....based on these wait times I would of missed the births of my first two kids!!

Anyways.....I'm here in sunny L.A. wondering if they're gonna make me go the IR-1/CR-1 route.....we have filed both petitions but does the I-129 still mean anthing for someone who's been married for 16years?

being there that long why not roll with DCF. Most definately you meet the requirements.

Go for it and get it done quick.

  2. Alex,

    REALLY?!?!?!!

NONE??? that sounds terrible.. HOWEVER, I dont feel that my elite status means so much with NWA as it does with partners such as KLM, etc... I always comment that when i do my normal route from ind-dtw-ams-sto that i feel like i am abused till i see the KLM staff in bule. Regardless, having priority check in, seating, the upgrades i know makes travel more pleasant than for the non elite member. I guess it is not till gold or platinum that you really get the gold carpet.

KLM actually lost my luggage a few months ago when my wofe and I were working in Nairobi and managed to deliver my luggage and MONETARY COMPENSATION to where were working, IN THE SLUMS OF KWANGWARE!!!!

    That is definately something!!

  3. stay with the same airline alliance.... get the 25k per year to get elite status, which shouldnt be hard considering where all our partners come from. You will get complimentary upgrades to first class for all domestic flights and prefered seating. Use www.seatguru.com to find the best seats and you have the weapons to fight the seating problem.

BTW. any northwest flight that operates an airbus a330 for international flights, seat 41g is the best in coach.

  4. Whatever. Bla Bla Bla... the TSA screeners range from being understanding to what passengers go through to total fuc*ers.

This one is cut and dry. She is going to be happy with the settlement she gets. I am sure she has been approached by over 500 attorneys at this point. The case will be settled out of court and we wont hear anything more about it.

Interesting that some of the airport screeners I have met could have gone through and passed DOS screening, especially considering what average people on this forum go through. Have heard TSA dudes on break talking about how good their weed was or how wasted they were "last weekend"

  5. Children, not so baad as long as they behave.....

Fat people, that's a whole different story.............

OH YEA!!! That can be a big problem too!! I had a flight about a year ago where my neighbor was so big,, he was hanging over into my seat. He apologized and i was VERY understanding. However, when the flight attendant refused to reseat me, i had to make a scene with the airline staff explaining that I am an elite flyer loyal to their airline and I paid for a FULL seat and if i couldnt get a FULL seat of space, i needed compensation.

    They gave me business class.

  6. i actually had a 10 hour flight recently. There was a MENA dude and american wife. The dude and 2 of the young kids were in the row behind me. the wife and another child were in the row next to him across the aisle. The kids were out of control beating the sh*t out of my seat, slamming the tray table and STICKING THIER FINGERS IN MY EAR.... the dude didnt do anything. everytime myself or the person next to me seemed irritated the MENA dude said something to his wife and she had to take control. He refused to do anything. i felt so bad for the wife. i finally resorted to drinking a bunch of scotch and things didnt seem so bad. Funny thing, the wife and kids spoke 3 languages and dude could only speak his mother tongue.

sad sad sad... I would definately support a cabin for families if possible. the families need the relieved stress of not having to worry about other passengers and the children need to be children.

  7. I worked really closely with several of my professors in undergrad. My thesis advisor, my theory professor, my voice teacher, my South Asian Studies advisor, an anthropology professor, three professors I worked for, two who trained me to be a writing fellow... I never felt my questioning was unwelcome, and I never felt pressured to think a certain way (except carefully).

!!! Sounds like some one else has spent time in music school conservatory!!!

  8. i think there would be a HUGE difference if the professor/student relationship was at a more general undergrad level or at the graduate/post grad level where the professor and student are REALLY working together. I speak from experience. I could give a sh*t what my undergrad professors thought but when spending so much time at the grad/post grad stages, the study into ideology goes much deeper.

  9. Hello,

I am interested in getting personal loan to consolidate some bills and have a little extra to take care of everyhting when my fiancee arrives. I am looking for about $25,000. Anyone have any experience or advice for me about this? I am new to the loan game and dont want to get screwed.

My advice is do not go into debt starting a new marriage. If you are new to the loan game how do you owe 25 grand? Don't make the mistake of getting into more debt. If your spouse comes here and thinks you have a lot of money they may expect it to continue, if you don't have money then they should accept you the way you are.

if the debt is credit card debt with high interest... it is definately best to consolidate with a lower interest loan. more money at the end of the day.

  10. So, is anyone else as crazy about college basketball as I am?

Every year I pick Kansas to go all the way....I figure one day it will happen.

    GO JAYHAWKS!!!

IM FROM INDIANA MAN... WHAT DO YOU THINK!!!!!!

  11. GREAT!!!!! ANYONE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO PRAY AND BE GAY!!!!

Like anyone will listen though..... Like trying to convince the religious right majority in the U.S. that the churches that have allowed gay bishops or condones homosexuality have some all encompassing revelation that should be paid attention to.

Sad sad sad state of the world. :protest:

  12. 3 months 6 days here. And this includes wait time for the 221g denial and administrate processing. She got visa approved this morning.

Good info about not needing any i94 or anything. Ill let her know and tell her to carry on her xrays. She is coming in 2 weeks as well after i flyover and we have a scandinavian spring holiday!!

  13. Not just liveable, but make sure to live a certain way to get the most out of the system. Which you pretty much have to since the taxation is insane and any money you can get back is nice. So way less choice in the end. I really don't miss that part.

Funkyab.....what in the heck are you guys thinking??????? :o

Taxation indeed! Sweden and Norway are fantastic and the middle of the road standard of living definately beats the usa. BUT much harder in Norway and Sweden to break above the average. This is much easier to to in USA epsecially as level of education is much more closely related to absolute income than it is in Scandinavia.

I was previously married to a Swede and we lived in the USA. We got divorced and I lived in Sweden for 3 years and got graduate degrees there. Got my citizenship along the way. Now married to a Norwegian.

I see the pros and cons of both. Will definately go back for a while when we have children. Quite nice to have that flexibility.

  14. After being accused of submitting forged documents when giving them i-130, terrible interview for my wife, 221g Administrative Processing, tons of irrelevant documents being requested. Visa was approved. 3 months and 6 days from filing.

Actually met with congressman personally yesterday and he said he would send email last night. They would have received email at 8am. Approval email came at 8:34. Coincidence?

Regardless, whatever. I dont care. Actually have business to attend to in stockholm next week so will have a nice Scandinavian holiday with my girl and BRING HER HOME! It dosent matter if we do POE together does it??

    /A
