  1. I tried calling that number, but either I wrote our case number down wrong or I am somehow not in the system. I have never called any of these numbers before, so not sure.

Shouldn't we be in the system?? Is the the number for Montreal? Or do I call somewhere else since I am DCF?? Hope someone knows, if not its okay.

    Thanks

    Rena

  2. Our story is pretty boring... we met at work. I really didn't know him at work, I was actually his boss for a couple weeks but he was new along with a bunch of other people and I just never met him. We had a new girl move to town for work and I ended up taking her out down town and we ran into him at a bar with another guy from work. Well the new girl and my friend started talking so me and the hubby just hung out while they chatted and ended up talking all night and I haven't been able to get rid of him since, LOL.

  3. Congratulations on the new house, Reeena! How exciting!!

Thanks! We are pretty excited! I am just so ready to move now, especially since we will be paying rent here and for our mortgage over there...

Here is our house...lol, gota share the pic...

  4. Well the hubby is at work until around 11pm tonight...and then we will be on the road. It will take us just over 3 hours to get there, and I really don't see any point in sitting around the house for a few hours just to get on the road... I'd rather be tired after we get there than be tired driving. I am so not looking forward to the drive home though...

I think we are going to get some Timbits for the road, have been on weight watchers for a while now but think we deserve a nice treat!!

  5. They have closed down the underground complex... we now work in a multi-million dollar piece of ####### building.... they even had to delay our move to the new building because it was full of black mold before we even moved in and its brand new. The office I work in gets full of ice on the windows and its always cold, its crazy, lol.

  6. No school for me here... stationed here up at the base. It will be 4 years this April, so we are finally leaving. I guess it was a good thing, or else I would of never met the hubby and have another baby. He is in the Canadian forces and me the US. He will be separating from the forces on the 2nd of April for us to leave to Utah...

  7. Exactly! I had the same problem with North Bay... worst. city. ever.

lol...thats where we moved to kingston from! It is a small world.

Haha and here I am still stuck in North Bay... but we leave soon.... hopefully April!!!

And I hate to admit I like it here... but I have never lived anywhere else in Canada...LOL and I moved here from Japan so it was a welcomed change!!

  8. Anyone else going that day??

I got a call from them on Tuesday and I guess they raised the price from something like $185 to $275!!! Yikes!!

Glad they called and told me, I would of been mad if we showed up and didn't have enough money.

    Hope we have everything...

-Money --plus 20 extra for them to send us the packet back

    -Letter with case number

-Bunch of US passport size photos

    -immunization record

    -Passport for proof of identity

    Am I missing anything?

Thanks guys.... its finally coming together!!

Oh and we just got back from the states where we bought a house for when we move in hopefully April some time...

  9. Just wondering after the interview when we finally move to the states is there a time frame that you must wait in the states before visiting Canada?

We are hoping for an interview in April and move at the end, if not May is good too.

I have to go out of town for work in July for 3 months and the hubby wants to go back to Canada to visit family before school starts with the kids while I am gone....Will he be able to do that??

Seems like I remember hearing you have to stay in the US for something like 6 months or so after you enter??

We will have been married just under a year and a half if that makes any difference...

    TIA

    Rena

  10. Good morning everyone!

Just here at work enjoying a coffee....When I made my coffee at home this morning the brand new bag curdled when I poured it in my cup! YUCK! That had never happened to me before... Glad I had milk here at work.

Is bagged milk everywhere in Canada or just Ontario??

  11. http://www.dfas.mil/army2/militarypay/allowances.html

Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) - BAH is paid to uniformed service members to provide housing compensation based on pay grade, zip code, and dependency status. It is payable when government quarters are not provided or when temporarily residing in barracks (i.e. basic training, job school, unaccompanied overseas assignment).

To determine how much BAH you are eligible to receive, use this BAH Calculator .

To view the 2007 Rates for BAH II, Partial BAH, and BAH-Diff click here .

To view the 2006 Rates for BAH II, Partial BAH, and BAH-Diff click here .

Basic Allowance for Subsistence - BAS is designed to continue the military tradition of providing room and board for service members as part of their pay. This allotment is for the service member only and is not intended to cover spouses and/or family members’ room and board costs. As of January 1, 2002, all enlisted military members in a good status draw a full BAS monthly rate

  12. Well BAS is money the give him for HIM to eat, so he should already be getting that or they make him eat at the chow hall, and unless he has a family living there, I believe they will provide him quarters and not give him BAH since you will still be in Canada, but I'm not sure.

He has to double check with his finance office.

I know that unless you are located with him in the area the pay can be different.

There may be some kind of separation pay, but not sure.

I only have access to USAF info...

    Good luck.

  13. LOL that why I never order fish when we go out, cause you never know what you are going to get. I normally order shrimp and even that is hit or miss. Better off making it at home!
