Hey there! I just got my approval for my K-1 visa so me and my fiance were just planning the same thing and it sounds like we may have a similar amount of stuff (I have kitchen stuff, a lot of collectibles and games, and 2 books shelves + 2 carts).
Our distance is a LOT shorter than yours (Nova Scotia --> NYC) however what my fiance is doing is renting a cargo van in NYC, driving to Nova Scotia, loading me up and driving back. The reason he's renting it in NYC is that UHaul only rents cargo vans locally (no long distance drop offs) but it STILL ends up being cheaper for us then renting a 10' Uhaul. For your distance however, it may be cheaper to rent the 10' Uhaul and drop it at your final destination.
When you go to cross the border we have seen MANY websites say that you need a full inventory of all of your stuff. What I did when I packed my stuff up (I was staying with family because my lease went up, so the majority of my stuff is already packed and in storage waiting for the move) was write everything that was in the box down in a notebook (like "Hair / Make-up, Over the counter medicine, bathroom shelves, shampoo / body wash -- Bathroom Box #1") and also wrote that on the outside of the box itself. This will apparently really help facilitate a quick border crossing.
Good luck, and I hope your process goes quick!
Hey all, I hope to cross the land border into the USA within the next few weeks on my K1 visa(from Canada). I've began making a list of all household items i have. Is there any U.S. Custom form to fill out. Or can I literally just make my own listing and give it to them?

Question about Form I-134. (Refer to attached asking about "beneficiary's income" Under Income #13, do I put beneficiary FY 2022 salary or what? And is anything else required?

No, the DS-260 is not required. From what I heard, it seemed like the people who had their fiance with them at the interview were asked fewer questions. Also, they did not ask for current information about the relationship, pictures, flights, etc.
Okay thanks for putting me at ease!!! Cool cool!

LOL...I was freaking out about the DS-260 as well a few days ago. Didn't need another intent letter. Also, the only income documents they accept are signed tax returns or tax transcripts. However, each embassy can request different documents. Have more than you might need.
Thank you for your response:) so I am assuming you didn't do a ds-260 either because that's not for a K1 related visa:)
I appreciate your help:)

That is a generic email with information related to Immigrant Visas.
As K-1 is technically a Non-Immigrant Visa, the requirements are slightly different.
Please see Page 7/7, K-1 Specific Information.
Keep in mind this information could be outdated - although all was the same for me.

Okay phew! Thanks for your response! I did it a bit a different way where I booked the visa interview prior to receiving packet 3 or 4 (even though it says not to, but thought id give it a shot). So my packet 4 from the embassy was slightly different than the usual probably because I had already booked and in the email, they provided me with my interview date. I just started freaking out when I saw the ds-260 request as it didn't mention anything about the ds-160 or letters of intent to marry within 90days and such. However when I did packet 3 that was all on my checklist...

I believe that when you download the Tax Transcripts from IRS.gov, the SSN will be redacted.
I choose not to redact the SSN or other information, as the documents were delivered in person and felt there was limited to no risk of that information being compromised.
You can search "Redacted SSN" on VJ to see what other members have done.
Hey all, can someone help! I am kinda freaking out because my interview is booked for March 13. I recieved packet 4 from the montreal embassy via email today saying that I need to bring the following to me to the interview - which mentions something to do with the DS-260 and the checklist does not indicate anything to do with whats included for K1 visa interview (see attached). I am going for k1 visa interview.... Is this just generic or do you think something went wrong somewhere along the lines?

Okay so we got our USCIS approval on October 23, 2023. Since then, I've been continually following up with the NVC to see if they have recieved our case and literally nothing as yet! It's literally been over 95 days! I'm going insane over here!! Anyways on February 18, our I797 expires. Who on earth do you contact to extend the I797? Look forward to any help.

no jokes but try 5 a week. they will answer you
Okay but at what point to I escalate this? We were approved on October 23, 2023. Ive submitted numerous inquires, t's not lik they don't respond. I just keep getting an email a few days after I submit a request saying 'To Whom it Concerns: Thank you for your inquiry. Our records do not show that we received your petition.'
Should I be sending an email to a different address other than the inquiry form on the nvc website orrr call the uscis to see if they actually sent it or what?
This is a little frustrating 🤣

It is overdue, keep doing public inquiry, three or 4 times a week.
Okay will do:)

Congrats to everyone that was approved!
Join the next thread here for NOA2, NVC and embassy. It's still pretty empty.Hey there, I am a November 2022 filer. I recieved my NOA2 on October 23, 2023. We have not recieved any sort of confirmation from the NVC to say they have recieved our case. I've sent a few requests in and it comes back with the same thing everytime that they haven't recieved our case yet.
How do I know when/if my case was transferred from USCIS to NVC? Anyway to tell? Look forward to hearing from you!

Usually the petitioner. In my specific case, we never received an email from NVC... I contact them using the Public Inquiry tool and they provided me with the Case Number, Invoice ID, and Beneficiary ID so I could track my case.
Would recommend you to do the same if you don't receive an email after two weeks.
Is that on the nvc website? We literally were approved from uscis 2 weeks ago yesterday...haven't recieved any email hoping it'll come soon! If not I'll reach out then!

Today I received Packet 3 by email from the Embassy in Madrid, well before the case was sent by NVC.
It contains the instructions and documents specific to Spain.
Who recieves the email from the NVC indicating they have recieved your case from uscis? Would it be the applicant, petitioner or if you used a lawyer to submit i129f would it be them?

At current processing rates there's a good chance you'll see an RFE or approval by the end of the year. It's a ways off, so things can change, but we're hopeful they'll continue in this positive direction.
Yes, we'll I'm definatley hoping for continued improvement on the k1 processing times!!

Hey there! I'm a November 2022 filer as well:)
