  1. I have a question....

I got the NOA2 in the mail today. What is the A# above Louis' (beneficiary) name?

Do I just wait now or should I be checking, tracking something?

I understand all the things I need to get together for Louis. Going to SLU next month a bringing the binder with all info in it and adding his stuff to it. (vaccines, birth cert, police cert, passport)

I feel like I should be doing something else? What is it???

    Thanks!

    Cat

No nice sweet letters of how much we looove each other! LOL ... I guess they didnt care much for it that time around.

Now I will write the mushy one... just me right???

Alrite mi have a question? WHAT KEEP YAH COMING BACK TO JV? Mainly this tread? Sometime I wonder why I check dis here site so often. Do you actually value the opinions of those on the bord. Do you think people who post here are really genuine,How much of whats posted here matters? It's obviously not just for immigration info. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

I think its nice just to chat or listen to people who are going through the same or something similar to yourself. I think people in general like to know that they have something in common with other people. It makes you feel better about yourself.

Not too mention there is some good advise and good laughs on here.

  5. ?????

has anyone lost friendships because of your relationships.

for either reason because they thought your s/o wasn't going to make u happy, he was using you or because you were happy??

When I was with my daughter's sperm donor (wink) I lost so many friendships. That was my fault. I let him isolate me. But they were my real friends and I got them all back. They just couldnt stand there and watch me life go down the tubes....

I think I have an agreement with all my close girlfriends... if our man is messing around and we know it - we tell. And always give our honest opnion about boyfriends, husbands whatever.... I have known my 3 best friend since kindergarten!

  6. OK, my question for the day is suppose you had a friend who was in a relationship and for whatever reason, you thought the man was using her.

You have no hard evidence, but you just have STRONG misgivings.

    DO you tell her?

Or since you have no hard facts, do you just leave it alone???

If a friend told you that she thought your SO was using you, but had no evidence, how would you react?

Would you prefer she said nothing without hard facts to back it up?

I would tel her, but it's all about the timing. don't tell her when they are all lovey dovey, wait until she complaining about something he did and then say something like. yeah i notice he always does such and such and keept it moving. she may not agree with you are say anything at all, but she will start thinking about it.

That is a good idea... make her think it is her that saw the light!

Sorta in that situation now with my best friend. I know the guy she is trying to have a realtionship with is an A##. She sends him money, gifts for his kids etc ... (he is Lucian). There is nothing I can say to her though. I mentioned a couple times to her my thoughts and her reaction was just not to tell me what goes on with them anymore. I guess we have to figure things out for ourselves...

My friends to questions Louis' intentions but they have never met him. Thankfully I know they will give him a chance to prove them wrong. I just continue to tell them to "wait and see".

We all know the truth. Sometimes we have to open our minds to see it.

Lawny, yes mi memba mi seet now, we go to a grocery store in Silver Spring just a block down from there...Can't remember the name right now, but they seem FAIRLY reasonable....Where do you do your grocery shopping???

The Carribbean store on New Hampshire avenue. Dem tieef too, but wah mi ago do.

I have been there! LOL .. just had to let you know! haha.

I miss DC... wonder if Louis would like it??!!

  10. Does anyone know does the uscis website status change first or do you get the email first lol.

I would say the status change on the website prompts the e-mail. It probably pretty simultanious.

    Morning Irie,

Please SPRINKLE some NOA2 dust on me. I'm begging you. :crying:

Oh you will get it any minute... I swear I have been sending the NOA2 blessings your way! Fo Sho! :-)

  11. All I can say is "know your SELF-WORTH"----know your SELF-WORTH

This is so true - and every woman has her point in life when she recognizes her own self worth - Whether it is a simple thing that someone says (whether it's realistic or not), or whatever happens to make her take a hard look at herself - From that moment forward, there is no turning her back.

I have been through the abusive relationship, the cheater - you name it. I have a friend right now who is in and out of an abusive relationship - it breaks my heart to see, but she knows that I am there for her when she needs me. However, I truly believe that everyone has their own individual wall - eventually you hit it and realize that it's enough for you, but until that time, nothing anyone says to you makes a difference.

    Co-sign Sus,

I've been there too and no matter how man times people try to talk you out of your relationship, you have to be ready.

I've not typed it enough 10 bbclaat YEARS! I'm glad I survived and was able to walk away.

Ladies, I have been there too. My daughter's father tried to kill me (strangle) when I was nearly 9 months pregnant. I begged him to let me live for Tierra....The other day when you all were talking about your kids looking like people you talk about (something like that) it made me think about when T's dad held me down and pressed his hand into my side.... I swear to God that Tierra has a birthmark in the same place and it makes me happy actually. Reminds me of my strength.

Now my best friend likes a man I know beat past women and I told her and even after she saw what I went through it does not stop her from pursuing him. Nothing I can say to her will make her change her mind because "it won't happen to her"..... I pray it doesn't!!!

  12. Ladies.... I just finished reading "Dancing Naked at the Edge of Dawn". It was such a GREAT book! About strong women and the steps and changes we all go through in life. Marriage, kids, divorce, love ... happiness. It was so good!

I think all the strong women in this group would like it.

Just in case anyone has the time to pick up a book! :-)

  13. Guess everyone's gone quiet....

    Question:

If it was as easy to find work in the non-US country, would you live there?

It would be hard for me...I am very close to my parents and love my job here, but I would find it very interesting to live in the UK...

I would go in a second. Like I said before I love to move. I would have stayed in St Lucia forever but I didn't much like the schools there and my daughter was about to start Kindergarten. I will go back one day. If Louis doesn't like cold Maine (I sure don't) we will find warmer climates for sure...in this country or the next!

  14. So drama of the day..Kashi tell him mumma seh mi preggo...her reply was "so, how it ago go wid the mining":wacko: WHAT how it a go now..mi a ask u ar nobody fi nuttin ? AND him a tell mi seh she a seh if him want to leave him can leave don't feel like him affi stay... a wah di rass dis pon mi soul dear Lord ! oonuh no tell mi dis blasted ooman no waant mi trace har and dat ago cause problems btw me and mi husband...aww bwoy

I say GOD BLESS HER cause some days she actually makes my MIL look tame in comparison!

    Sorry, Kimmy.

lol, what JG your MIL is now wearing an halo :innocent:

Boy I am glad we have no cheesecake Factory around here... I did make brownies today... will make my daughter bring a couple for her teacher tomorrow so I dont eat them all!!!

All the talk about MILs and I get a little worried. My future MIL is so sweet. I am the 1st woman Louis introduced to her. When I talk to her on the phone she is always so nice and wants to know how her baby (my daughter) is doing. I really think she is a nice woman and genuinly likes me! I hope I am not just wishful thinking. But I also see what a sweet guy Louis is so he must have got it from somewhere. Louis' dad .... always asking him where all his grandkids are.... Louis can't be any son of his without his seed spread all around (louis has who knows how many siblings from dad)!!!

I guess I just need to count my lucky stars!!!

My ex's mother .. she is another story! Don't get me started there. Says she loves me God Bless blah blah blah .... but will bad mouth me in a minute! I am the b*c that tries to get money from her son yadda yadda yadda ....

No your the b#@$h that wan'ts her son to support his daughter.

Yeah! and I still don't get anything!

Funny I just got an e-mail from her ... It was all " I thank God for you and God bless you" ..... I totally respect religion and I am a spiritual person but it really gets me when people throw around the God this and that and then don't practice what they preach!!!

    Ugh!

  15. I hardly ever talk to anyone at work!

But that's the way I like it. I work best with no distractions - no music, gossip or background noise.

I think I would find it hard being in the house, though. I'd have to have a very clearly delineated 'office' space.

My office space is the living room but I do get alot of work done. After spending 6 months in St Lucia (essentially homeless in the USA) I came back to a 1 bedroom apartment I share with my daughter. Its ok though I like it and its a great school system but I had to take what I could get (or what my aunt got for me while I was gone). I am one of those people that like to move - I keep minimum things and I am lucky my daughter takes after me. When my Louis gets here we will find a 2 bedroom or eventually buy a house but he is used to sharing also and my 1 bedroom apartment will be a mansion to what he is used to!

Oh and even though I telework .. there is still juicy office gossip! LOL Can't live without it. I work for a small company and we are like a family - but like a family that is always in each others business ... Its a good thing we all like each other!!

  16. Woo! Congrats to the mystery couple!

IrieCat - wow, that sounds absolutely ideal. If I could find a job like that - well, it'd be perfect!

Yes it can be great and it is in the travel industry....

Although it can be boring with no adults to talk to throughout the day and the kitchen so close!! LOL

I guess everything has its pros and cons!!

Congrats to the new approval!! Yeah!!!

  18. I agree too. I wish I could keep all my vacation days, and be able to have several months of maternity leave before and after my children's birth!

I consider myself very blessed. When I had my daughter 6 years ago I was living in VA, I wanted to come back to Maine to raise my daughter and my boss would not let me quit. I have been "teleworking" ever since. I think it is becoming very popular in the states. I dont have to buy work clothing, or pay for a commute to work.

If my daughter is sick I am home...If I am sick I dont really have to call in (unless I am so sick I need to stay in bed and even then I can bring the laptop to bed!)I also have about 6 weeks of "paid time off", and can use for whatever reason I want. I do tend to work more than I would if I were going to an office from 9-5 but I am also able to travel and not take time off. As long as I have an internet connection and I can work.

This is the whole reason I was able to stay in St Lucia for 6 months and meet my Sweetie! :-)

  19. MAWNIN,

    Nanny, Brownie & Irie...

Irie, I had Marcel go to a clinic and check on his shot records. He need to get two more shots, which he complained about for a WHOLE damnnnn week. Does your HTB (hubby to be)...have a clinic near him. Does he have any school records. That was were Marcel got his information, beause his parents couldn't not locate it. I told him for his physical he has to strip down NAKED in front of a man. Of course, he's not happy about that.

I hate to break it to you; but it COULD be in front of a woman.

LOL - I don't think he would mind that!!

But that is one thing I wont tell him ahead of time, he wont show it but I am sure he will be nervous enough!

  20. Teachers can certainly have a rough time here. Not just from the children, but also children's parents! There are few rights for teachers and you do hear some horror stories, and to be a good teacher you really have to have an extremely strong personality. It takes a special person to be a teacher; I could certainly never do it! Of course, I don't think everyone is cut out to be a teacher no matter how angelic the children are, but it seems a shame that unruly kids are almost expected at schools.

However, what my teacher friends/relatives have found the hardest is the sheer amount of paperwork and bureaucracy...I don't know how it is in the US, but it's almost impossible to do anything without first filling in a bunch of forms! My aunt taught special needs for several years before having her own children, and after her children were old enough to attend school themselves she tried going back to work - but in that short amount of time the paperwork had more than tripled. You can't lay a finger on a child - even if it's to help them, i.e. with a cut - without first filing a report.

Reason why I no longer belong to the PTA. I have a lot of friends that have tried (especially in D.C. and Baltimore schools) and decided to change careers. She said she could no longer deal with the parents. It's bad enough when the kids are disrespectful, but when the parents start to act the same, it's too much to deal with. Imagine being PUSH and SLAPPED by a parent in front of your students. That was the last straw for my friend! Some students really want to learn, but some parents want the TEACHERS to parent their child (and that's not going to work). She has since returned to Jamaica, because it was too much to deal with after 15 years. I don't care how bad the situation is...a PARENT has no right to put their hands on a TEACHER, because the teacher failed the student. They need to CHECK themselves

My best friend is a DC public school teacher and I get to hear all the stories! She even worked at Choice (where the kids who get kicked out of school go) .. It feels hopeless when the parents are worse than the kids!! She has been a teacher for 11 years and I can tell she gets more discouraged every year!

Here in Maine my daughter is so lucky... great school and great teachers!! I am blessed to have wound up in this town. I may not like it much as its not very diverse but the school system is amazing!!

    I hear you Irie,

I work in D.C. everyday and I use to take the metro, but the kids are some DAMNNNN unrully it's not even funny. So, I started to drive in. They would be on the train spiting paper at each other. And now a days you really don't want to get into it with a group of school aged children, but I had to say something. The kept spitting paper and it was hitting other people who said nothing. So, I had to push the emergency button. I told them I will KNOCK them the HELL back from where they came from if they got into my face. Metro police escorted them from the train and out of the station. It's just a sad state.

You go! I would love to have been on the metro with you!!! :-)

I used to take the metro everyday to work and always had a new "crazy person on the train" story!! :-)

haha Oh Lord!! I will not tell Louis about the stripping thing! hahaha!

A friend of his works at a clinic and he is going to catch him up on all his shots ..

I will see what his mom can dig up if anything else.

    Thanks!
