  1. Being an LPR isn't the issue here. It is the temporary travel document that you were issued.

How does the embassy know that it is only the NW Arkansas airport that doesn't know what they are being presented? Did you ask the person from Continental that refused you where it stated that it was for a minor child? And did you get clarification on that point from the consular staff person from the Moldovan embassy?

Could the person at the embassy be mistaken? Could you have been issued the wrong document?

You are asking why a TSA staffer is not familiar with a temporary Moldovan document? Temporary passports/travel documents are not items that gate agents commonly see. And the instance of Moldovan documents are likely rare. So you may have to do some work to be able to verify the validity of the document.

I am a moldovan citizen who travelled to Moldova in march 2011 with a Travel Document. Had no issues whatsoever.

As far as the gate agents not being familiar with the Travel Document: i used to work at the bank and not recognizing a certain kind of ID didn't give me the right to refuse the customer the bank transaction.

In that case you find a supervizor or consult an id catalog.

  2. My fiancée and I are hoping that sooner than later we'll have her interview scheduled in Kishinev. Does anyone have any recent experience with them that they can share? I know they have only been processing their own visa applications since November. And info on what kind of timelines we might be looking at, or anything else really...would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance!

    LUCKY YOU!!!

Don't know how it is, but i'll tell you what: You're lucky you're going to have to deal with american staff. They'll be polite and fair and respectfull.

I had to get some documents when i went home and sucks to say, but you don't want to deal with moldovan beaurocracy and SOME retarded employees.

You guys are lucky you don't have to get a visa to go to Bucharest for the interview. That was the part that sucked worst.

Just have all you need and even what you think you don't need with you.

    You'll be just fine.

  3. Hi!

I was wondering if anyone knows what's the timeframe and whether there's a way to expedite the transcription of the marriage certificate in the moldovan civil registry.

My problem is i will be going home for just a little over 2 weeks and in that time i need to manage to renew my moldovan passport and for that i will have to ranscript my us marriage certificate.:crying:

How wrong would it be to conceal the fact that i got married and to renew my passport with my old name?

    Help, please!

  4. Hi!

I'm getting my paperwork together to renew my moldovan passport when i go home next spring.

I got my marriage licence apostilled, my daughters birth certificate too. Now i will have to translate them to romanian and then notarize the translations

What i was wondering is are the notarized translations going to be acceptable at home, or will i have to apostille the notarized translations too? Phewww :help:

    Thank you!

  5. Little update for whomever wants to laugh:

I got a hold of someone from the county clerk's office and they figured they sent me my marriage certificate back in 2008 without certifying it. They didn't put the special seal on it and the clerk didn't sign it.

What's funny it's that it only took 2 years to discover that, and we used this for the immigration purposes and none from USCIS cought it :bonk: .

It's all taken care of now

  6. Hello!

I am a conditional permanent resident and my national passport is expired. I'm going to obtain a travelling document from my embacy in Washington to go visit my family. While i'm there i will renew my passport.

For that 'though i need to apostille all of my us issued documents.

I sent my marriage certificate to the Illinois secretary of state and i got a denial letter saying that my Marriage LICENCE needs to be certified by the county clerk first. Well, my LICENCE is certified (signed and with an official seal) it's my CERTIFICATE that i need apostilled.

Isn't a marriage certificate issued by a county clerk considered a certified and official document?

Has anyone got ny knowledge on the matter?

    Thank you!

  7. If the airline people do their job, you will not be allowed to board a plane with an expired passport as this would violate US and international laws.

You will have to get a new passport from within the US before you can travel internationally again.

Ok, here's some clarification for someone who might be in my position, i just found it on-line: You can only be admited to the US with a reentry permit instead of a passport if you are "stateles". That is if you're a refugee, asylee or something like that.. Other than that a passport will be required.

As about "the airline people doing their job"- there's an official document that embassies issue to people who are in a foreign country and have damaged, expired or lost passport in order for them to be able to return to their country.

  8. HI!

I hope someone could help me with my question.

I am a conditional green card holder and my moldovan passport expired, but i am planning to go home soon.

I know about my options in the matter of getting a new passport, but is there a way around it?

Could i just use the travelling title issued by the moldovan embassy in USA to go home and use a re-entry permit to come back to the states without a passport?

    Thank you so much!

  9. Hi!

It's just the other day that i noticed that my GC is only valid for two years.

I know that you can apply for citizenship 3 years after you've been a resident (give or take a few months), but than what should i do?

Should i get another GC (how much does that cost?) or could i possibly apply for citizenship when my GC expires?

Besides, how much in advance should i apply for a new GC, or can i do it after it expires?

    This is so confusing.

    Thank you

  10. Hey Aliona!

I contacted them last year (via email, I could look it up for you if you need it, however I think I took it off their official web-site so you most likely know it), they responded pretty quickly the first time, then I emailed them back the second time with some questions and they NEVER responded lol So, I think it'd be really better for you to just go there in person. They are in DC. Let me know if you need that email address I used, I'll look for it.

Thank you, but i do have their e-mail address. They never answered my e-mail that's why i kept calling and calling and calling...

I wish i could find one person that had to renew its moldovan passport in states.

    Thanks so much for replying!

  11. Thank you for your time!

Here is my question- if i came here on a k1 visa and now i have a green card, how do i do to renew my passport?

In fact, i have researched a little bit and i found the list of the documents our embassy at Washington is requirring. The fee for that is $150, HOWEVER they say that for those who DO NOT have the inscription/stamp of "moving to the US with permanent residency" in the national passport must submit an extra $300 and some extra paperwork to receive a new passport.

Has anybody done it before? Does anybody know anything about it?

    Thanks again

  12. Thanks for encouragement Aliona!

The problem is that I received the letter and there says to bring with us for the interview "the completed form I 693 (medical form)and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted)"...so the dilemma for me is that I submitted just the medical form 2053 ...not the sealed I 693.... can they still ask for that new form??

My envelope stayed at the POE when i came to the states.

It's the officer who submitted that envelope to the immigrations.

It would be odd if you'd still have your envelope.

Anyway, if it stayed at the POE, than it got to USCIS, that means you're good to go.

    I really-really think EVERYTHING will be ok!star_smile.gif

  13. We didn't need a copy of the medical exam.

As far as i remember, they had there the whole package that we sent to the USCIS for the GC application.

You will receive a list of documents to bring (although they only looked at our pictures when we went), but a new medical exam is not on that list...unless things have changed in a yearunsure.gif .

    Things should go smooth now.

You passed the initial interview and the USCIS screening.

Don't worry about this interview. You'll be fine!

    Good luck!good.gif

  14. to tell you the truth I don't remember now how it was called that place.... but it was pretty nice and clean and also cheap.... 50 euro a day

Hotelul Banat, 35 euro a day

you can make reservations over the phone

    Much luck!

Actiolly the prices may have changed, check with them when you call.

Breakfast included and it's at a walking distance from the embassy

  15. Oh God, they need copies of all these papers? That's a lot of papers to copy.. I didn't think they would need it, thanks for telling! Hey by the way, do they need a statement from your bank stating that you have money to go to Romania? You didn't mention it in the list of documents..

No, you just write in the application that you have that money. Moldova is not that advanced and they realize that a bank account is not a common thing there.

  16. Aliona, just read your post, thank you for the information, just as Jbly I was also wondering how to get these stuff done in order to obtain a Romanian visa for the interview… I also have a couple of questions for you..

    1) "asigurare medicala (poti sa o faci la Asito pt 3-4 zile, unde sa fie inclusa si data interviului) " – Can I obtain this on the same day when I go to Asito?

    2) "copii la actele cele vei trimite la ambasada" – what kind of papers do you mean? I didn't quite understand which ones you meant.. I mean I'll have a whole set of papers that I am going to bring with me to the Bucharest U.S. Embassy…Could you specify?

Thank you very much! Your comments in this topic were soooooo helpful..

    1) Yes, they'll give you the insurance "book" in about 15 mins, i think it'll cost about 35 lei, but i could be wrong.

    2) The most important ones, like copies of first and second notices of action, copies of the affidativ of support, the letter where your fiance states that he'll marry you within 90 days upon your arrival. For more credibility take with you pictures of you and your fiance. Just gear up to be prepared for anything. Better safe than sorry.

    I'm glad i can help!

    Good luck!

  17. So, when you get the package from the US embassy in Chisinau, you'll have to put together some papers. They'll send you the list. Meanwhile, you can get the judicial record and the vaccine record to save yourself some time.

After you put all that together and send it back you need to call them to schedule the appointment. They will not schedule an interview for you before they get your package, so when you call- ask them first if they got it.

Before calling- have a date picked. Schedule it not earlier than 2-3 weeks, because you'll need time to get the romanian viza. Also, ask them when are they going to send your confirmation to Chisinau, so you would atleast aproximately know when to go.

I got in line at the romanian consulate on monday morning, got in on thursday and picked up my visa next monday. So, make sure you have enough time.

Feel free to ask anything! We've all been there :)
