  1. They did not say it was an interview, only that all the paperwork in the US was good and they set an appointment for this Friday to give her additional paperwork. Sounds weird, but stranger things have probably happend. Another odd thing is that NVC still has not received the case and it has been about two weeks. I know it can take longer but other recent cases have been two weeks or less.

Maybe I'll send an email to NVC or call later tonight or I could just wait until Friday.

Well maybe in CR they make an appointment for P3.

Maybe so. I think they do this becuase the postal system really lacks. Is the P3 ready before the NVC assigns me a number? I thought VSC would email my package to NVC. How would the embassy have paperwork if it were sent to NVC? Alot of questions, weird!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining I just want to make sure I stay on top of things. I knew things would move quicker now.....but wow!! Maybe they will just set up the appointment and give us the visa............cool!! Sounds too good to be true.

Embassies can't possibly call before there's a case number. Only a live person at NVC can give you a K3 case number. You must be calling the automated system.

Yes I'm calling the automated system because it says all operators are busy. I have entered my EAC # for my I-129F and I-130. Both say not found in system.

All I know is that it was weird. I was actually talking to my wife on the phone about her birth certificate and she put my on hold. When she came back she said it was the embassy and they scheduled her to go in on Friday.

I'm kinda lost now. Not sure what to do. I believe on her end all she needs is her birth certificate. Aside from that, we have all other documetation on standy ready to go. So from that standpoint were okay. Or they can just give us the visa........that would be okay also.

I-130 case numbers tend to lag behind. Sometimes it's difficult to get through but the case number isn't nearly as important and the appointment.

Okay. So I just got through with NVC. "Bill" told me my NVC case number. He said that the embassy is probably processing her K-3 visa, he has my CR-1 on file at NVC. He said he recommends not paying any fee's right now but to do nothing until my wife goes to the embassy becuase she could easily be here in the US on the K-3 visa before NVC processes my paperwork. Not sure how that is but whatever. He said obviously the embassy already has my file.

It all sounds good, at least on the she could be here part. Guess we are waitin til Friday.

  4. Question:

My wife in Costa Rica just got a call from the US Embassy and they scheduled her for an appointment this Friday. They said they have all her stuff and they will give her the instructions for the remaining paperwork. They said all the paperwork in the US is good.

I don't even have a case number from the NVC. What is going on? Is this normal?

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

i would call NVC to confirm.

    Confirm what?

Case # and if the file has been forwarded to CR, but considering that she has not submitted a visa application it is difficult to understand how an interview can be administered.

  7. Lets see??? NO  An immigrant is NOT required to work...

My wife does not have a job.

NOTE K-3 CANNOT work anyway until they get EAD or Green-card.

I was just curious because they I-230 asks what work you intend to do after entering.

    She will not be working

  8. Does my wife need a job after entering the US? How does the NVC or the US Consular feel or look at this?

She does not plan on working right away and may never work but only be a housewife.

Will that affect the process in a negative manner?

  9. It's October now and we are closer to 8 mos from filling our 1-130 and still case PENDING. It's so frustrating and depressing that until now we haven't receive our NOA2 yet. Soooo... unfair while we see others filed April, May, June got approved already without expedite. Wonder how Vermont approve everyone's case, I'd like to believe now they approving it at RANDOM not by FIFO -first in first out. And here we are, the waiting continues like eternity. How long can we stay apart from our spouses, ohhh, sick & tired here to just talk in the computer everyday, I hate the waiting....It's about time, VSC PLSSS APPROVE US & those that have been waiting for long time. :bonk::crying: :crying:

    Sent : 1-130 - Feb 19 - NOA1 Recieved Feb 29, 2008 touched 4/17/2008..nothing fallows

    1-129F - Mar 22 - NOA1 Recieved Mar 25,2008 touched 5/7, 5/8 ....nothing fallows

    Case Status : PENDING

I was approved at 216 days. You should be right around the corner!! Keep you head up, I know your frustration. NO FUN!!

  10. All requested docs were sent!

They say they have from 2 weeks and up to start up again on my case. I'm sure it will be the up part........now that they have done something. I know I'm being negative but.........................at least if it does go back on track on the faster side I'll be pleasantly suprised.

Not to mention they received the doc and my status hasn't changed.........wouldn't that normally change your last updated??

    Who knows...........

  11. Yea I think VSC is now moving. I received my RFE on 09-14, they sent two forms, not sure why but they did. I did not include my wifes spanish version of her divorce only certified copy of english translation, my bad I guess. Either way I quickly got it off yesterday via USPS express and they received a photocopy of the spanish version. Hopefully this is all their RFE's they will need and it won't slow my case back to a turtles crawl. My wife is losing her patience and hope!! Very stressful as you ALL know!!

Good luck to all for a speedy finish through their process!!

  12. WOW. Lots of good reading, lots of good advice and good takes.

I think if HE says something HE should do it or explain why he's not or can't do it. Marriage is a 50-50 deal and it should be fun. Maybe not all the time but most. My wife get's anxious if we don't talk enough on the phone......it's tough on both.

I think dreamlove may be done........or at least trying to get us to convince her of that..............

    Best of luck!

  13. I did not get the RFE via mail yet. I just got the email today. I suspect I will get the snail mail version tomorrow or the next day.

    It says:

Current Status: REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE SENT, CASE PLACED ON HOLD

When exactly did you get the RFE?

Received email that says RFE sent and case placed on hold.

I expected to be touched this week and I figure they sent this because they are backed up and need more time to process cases.

Does anyone know how long this could set a case back???

    Thanks for the help....................

Better luck to all others waiting!!
