My fiance made it to USA from the Philippines. We got her SS card then we got married. She would like to change her name. I understand we would have to go back to the social security office. How does this work when her main ID is her Philippines passport with her old name? If she wants to fly somewhere, she has to book in her old name? We want to get a bank account setup, is it easier before or after the name change? Basically, we don't know how the name change works. Is there anything we will need to do differently on the AOS paperwork? Thank you for your help

Fiancé had her visa interview about 3 weeks ago for a K1 visa in Manila and they told her that she was approved and collected her passport. We are still showing as "Ready" on the CEAC website. Before the interview, we did have to submit a different DS-160 due to a couple mistakes on the first one. We brought that to the interview and they accepted it, as they told us to do. We have still not received her passport back so I made an inquiry and received this response: " Our review of records shows that your case is undergoing administrative processing. Please be advised that the duration of administrative processing varies based on the individual circumstances of each case. The U.S. Embassy understands the importance of timely processing, but adjudicators balance the requirement to process cases in a timely manner with upholding immigration laws. Visa adjudicators review the visa........" This is bad right? 😢During the interview, they did not ask for additional documents. Is this probably all because of the incorrect DS-160 that we submitted? How long of a delay do you think we could receive for this? Is there anything I could do to move the process forward? Thank you for any insight into this process

If I were you, I would probably cancel the appointment and wait to reschedule. We scheduled for after the sputum test, but it came back positive so I had to cancel again. It's better to just wait until you know for sure. It could save you some of your limited number of reschedules for later.

Fiance had to go through TB treatment for the medical which is now completed. We had to do a new DS-160 due to the length of time of the treatment with the interview fee already paid and linked. She just went and finished her biometrics appointment. Next is the interview next week. We have also used all of our 2 or 3 reschedules online We just noticed both the first and last name of her father are incorrect on the DS-160. Everything else is correct. Should we complete another DS-160 correctly this time and have her present it at the interview? What could happen in this situation? Are the biometrics linked and stuck to the other DS-160? Should I just try to call the embassy to ask? I'm sad that we made this complicated for ourselves.

Hi Maryaaaa, I didn't even know skipping the 2 month sputum test was an option? Did they present you with that option? I'm surprised you didn't want the 2 month test because if its negative, you don't have to do the 6 months. But idk your circumstances so I kind of understand too. My fiance is currently past the halfway point in treatment. I got her an apartment in Malate to be close to SLMC and make it easier. The first 2 months, you undergo intense treatment. Luckily, she had hardly any side effects. After 1 months and 2 months, you get a 2 month sputum test. After 3 months, they do another x-ray and compare it to the old one. Overall, the delay is horrible, but we try to think positive that she was sick and needed to get better. She goes daily at 9-930am. What is your time? I've heard bad things about getting treatment outside of slmc so I think you are doing the right thing getting treatment there. Did you have any other specific questions?

I'm basically living in world of small odds so maybe the doctor will do an additional sputum while treating the condition. That's my play for now. Everything I read said it's small odds for a young adult to contract and develope TB. This is so frustrating.

Honestly, what you said rings deep. It's like I think the whole testing is BS and we already had multiple negatives, but at the same time, maybe my loved one has TB. She should be treated. It's serious. It just sucks because I want her here now!

We just received the horrible news yesterday. After doing the sputum testing, my fiance got a call 3.5 weeks after the last sample that she needs to go to SLMC to meet a doctor. We are assuming that the sample is positive. She is 26. After hearing she needs sputum testing 2 months ago we got an X-ray and went to another doctor for a TB test that both showed negative. From what I read, there is a very low probability of a 26 year old contracting TB. She also has no symptoms. Can you please tell me about the process from here? Is it really 6 months of treatment followed by another full medical and sputum testing for 2 months? Is there any way around this? I'm so tired of waiting that if more effort or money is involved to speed up the process, I would do pretty much anything at this point.
