  1. I have lived in the US for years, left in 2004, submitted I-130 in August of this year. The problem is most of those things on the list are not something I can get without being physically in the US, which is not something I want to do until before the interview, if possible. So you're saying what I have is not enough at NVC?
  2. FYI my wife will do the interview in Taiwan, but she is a Chinese citizen.
  3. My absence from the US was not temporary, which is why I need to re-establish domicile. Currently I have a US bank account, bank statement to goes to my brother's house, and I intend to apply to professional school in the US and have registered for the national exam required for admission. Are these enough to show intent to re-establish domicile to get me through the NVC stage?
  4. Well, by the time my wife gets to see a CO I'll have my own domicile, and I'm not trying to use a family's house either. Like I said I'll move back to the US ahead of my wife, get a lease etc. It's just that I want to do it later in the process. ie. before the interview but not during NVC stage which I heard is many months before the interview.
  5. I'm petitioning my wife to go to the US, currently at USCIS stage, currently lives with her abroad, currently do not have domicile in the US, but will precede her to the US and find a place to live. My question is can I wait until interview to present proof of domicile? as this entails a shorter separation with my wife than if I need to turn in proof of domicile at NVC stage.
  6. Discovered I made a small mistake(I think), on my I-130 petition. On the part where it ask for the beneficiary's city/town/village of birth, I entered the wrong city. I put the city where my Chinese wife had her Hukou registered and lived as a child, but she was actually born in a neighboring city. Is this going to affect anything? I'm thinking of sending a note to USCIS through the "unsolicited evidence" function explaining the mistake. Should I do that, or just leave it?
  7. If USCIS decides to mail me an RFE, will they also notify me via email or through my account that they have mailed me an RFE? This is what I was asking.
  8. So if I get an RFE will USCIS send me a notification on-line? I do have family member in the US that mail can be sent to, but given I actually live in China now, it's obviously a hassle to me to receive those mail. If a physical NOA or RFE is needed, can't I download it and print it myself? I thought the whole point of on-line application is so you don't have to deal with paper, even more incredible is if it has to be their paper.
  9. Marriage certificate, house ownership certificate, and Mainland Travel Permit. Again, I know I have to go to the notary when my case goes to the NVC, but I'm still at the USCIS stage, I still early in the process here. So the translator's certificate is part of the translation itself, does this mean they have to be on the same sheet of paper? I've never heard of this, and it's kind of confusing. Isn't the translator's certification on a separate sheet of paper? I have 3 foreign language documents, and a translation for each document. Does each of the 3 translations need to be accompanied by its own translation certificate, or can the translator write one translation certificate to cover all 3? Or does he put a certification at the end of each translation, on the same sheet of paper, as you seem to suggest? Thank you for your time
  10. Well, anything USCIS wants to send me. Like when my petition is approved, they"ll either send me an e-mail or I can find out on-line, right?
  11. Okay, I didn't know if it's okay to wait until it gets to NVC to change my address. USCIS does say I need to do that within 10 days after I move, just askin. By the way, since I applied on-line, I'll get all the correspondence on the website or e-mail, right?
  12. Oh, I wasn't referring to notarials. I was referring to the initial petition filed with USCIS, where I had neglected to include translator's certificate (because they didn't ask for it on the petition itself, on the part where you upload document in the on-line petition, it just says if your document is in a foreign language, upload an English translation along with the original.) Later I realized translator need to sign a certification saying the translation is accurate and so forth. Anyway, luckily there's a function on the site to submit additional document after I submit my petition. What I wasn't clear on is does the translator have to sign a separate certification for each foreign document translation? I think you said he has to, is that right?
  13. Instructions from State Department site says I need to obtain notarial certificates of Chinese civil documents, and all notarial documents need an English translation and translation certificate. My question is the notary office issue notarial certificates in both Chinese and English. I would think the English version is not a translation, but an original in another language. Do I need to provide a translation certificate for the English version notarial certificate?
  14. For foreign language documents, do I need to provide a separate translator's certificate for each document? So if there's 10 documents that need to be translated, do I need 10 signed translator certificates too? or can it be just 1 certificate for all of them? thanks.
  15. Okay, thanks. Also do I need to include a reason for why we moved?
  16. Hi, So here's my situation. Filed I-130 for my wife last month. She's Chinese citizen, was going to stay in China during the process, but situation changed, and in about 3 months we will be moving to Taiwan (she has legal residency in Taiwan) . I want to change the consulate where she will later interview at to Taiwan, and I want to make the request as soon as I can, so there's no problem with the location when the times comes to do the interview. How should I do this? Should I inform USCIS and/or NVC now about the impending change? Wait until we actually moved? Wait until the our case is sent to NVC and then inform NVC? or something else? And how much time will this add to the overall process, if any? Thank you.
