  1. My wife just got her IR1, and we are planning to move to the US on Jan. 2024. As an LPR I know she has to file US taxes, as well as FBAR(as she has foreign bank accounts with more than $10k). My question is when does she have to start filing? Does she have to file right away(for year 2023)? or wait till the following year after arriving in the US to file(for year 2024)?
  2. I was pointing out conflicting info from the State Dept. It directly contradict with the info in the second post and is very much relevant to this topic. How can this be considered hijack post?
  3. Do I have to submit relationship photos at NVC?
  4. For applicant's civil docs on CEAC, what does the item "photographs" refer to? What kind of photographs is to be submitted? Thanks.
  5. What is current wait time for interview for Taiwan? Thanks
  6. I honestly don't see the point of needing a copy of I-864 at interview. The CO would already have it right in front of him, and one copy is the same as the another. What would be the point of the interviewee needing to bring his own copy? I'm asking because I do not have my joint sponsor's I-864. It's uploaded by him and I can't see it. I'll have to ask him for it if a copy is needed. Can anyone tell me from experience whether the CO asked to see a copy of the I-864 at interview?
  7. Is it necessary to bring a physical copy of the I-864 to interview? Thanks.
  8. About how much time is there between notice that interview is scheduled and the interview? Consulate is Taipei, Taiwan btw.
  9. Me and my wife are in Taiwan, she's Chinese citizen.
  10. Thanks guys, but what I meant was if there are no issues, everything goes through, and the CO has decided to give you the visa. How long does it generally take to get it after interview? Is it fairly quick?
  11. How long does it take to get the IR1 visa after interview? Thanks.
  12. A few questions regarding I-864 I'm the USC, my wife is the visa applicant, I have 2 children who are born US citizen, and I am using my brother(who doesn't live with me) as the joint sponsor. 1. So my household size is 4, my brother fills out I-864 and his household size is 2, is this correct? 2. On part 5 item 1, the answer is 1 (my wife). But on item 3 it asked me to enter 1 if I'm married, which would count my wife twice, what do I do here? Enter 0 for item 3? 3. On item 8 it auto-populates to 1, and I can't change it, what's up with that? Most of the fields I can fill in on the screen, but there are some I can't. Including part 5 item 8 where I can't edit the 1 which is obviously the wrong answer. What do I do?
  13. May I ask how you got the welcome letter so quickly? NVC timeline says case creation is currently taking like 6 weeks.
  14. Filed I-130 for my wife, she's from China, she did graduate school in Macau for 4 years. She already has her Chinese police certificate, does she need one from Macau as well? Macau is Chinese territory that's kind of autonomous, and no one in China would consider Macau to be a different country. Also, during her time there she would regularly go to Zhuhai, which is in the mainland, and did it almost weekly. So there was definitely no time where she's in Macau continuously for 12 or 6 months. Thanks.
  15. Hi,can you elaborate what was your RFE in 2017 for? thanks.
  16. what real estate documents did you provide? Were there any issues with the real estate being in China? Did you have to prove those assets can be transferred to the US? thanks.
  17. I know in reality she didn't need to file taxes, my question was IF she had to file taxes all those years but didn't, what should she be doing now?
  18. If she had income, and didn't file taxes all those years, what is the appropriate thing for her to do now?
  19. If she was supposed to file taxes for all those years but didn't, what would be the appropriate thing to do now?
  20. I see there are quite a few members that have leases with their parents or family member, and submitting it as part of the evidence for domicile. My question is what if I live with my parents for free? Do I have them write a letter saying I live with them and I can stay for as long as I want, or do I need to come up with a "lease"?
  21. Okay, so what does the lease look like? how long is it? did she write it up herself or was there a template she used? is it like a simple lease since it's with a family member? or is it really detailed all legal looking lease like you would do with a normal tenant? Just want to know in case I need it for my own case, thanks for your response.
  22. Hi, I assume your wife is using her parent's house as her domicile, that' why she has a lease with them. So serious question, is that a "bona fide" lease, where your wife actually pay rent to her parents? or is that a "fake" lease, done expressly to submit for immigration purpose?
  23. Hopefully pushbrk is right. I'll just submit what I have to NVC, with a letter explaining I intend to move later, will have proof of domicile at interview, and see how it goes.
