    Hi,

Hmm it’s taking a long time for yours. I applied 15 sept 22 and got it oct 5th 22.
my husband applied sept 22 and got his in December.
Try to send an email to them asking. It’s over 6 months and normally doesn’t take that long.
    good luck

Congrats. Yes NOS updated on Nov 9 but showing received on July 6 with all other documents. Did you get FR in December. No member updated FR status in December. I thought may be  DOS not working  in December.

Yes. My husband got December 8th. Did you try to send an email asking them? Especially because I think it’s over the limit of 16 weeks that they estimate.
try to contact them and see what happen. Good luck

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I would have a quick inquiry. I wonder if there is anyone submitting their documents to DOS for J1 waiver on the basis of NOS in May-June who has been granted FR by DOS.

I sent my documents to DOS in late May. My Embassy sent their NOS letter to DOS in early June. It has been 5 months and my case is still pending with DOS. They have not even updated the status of my NOS as "received" in their system despite several reminder emails I sent them in this regard. Could you please advise?

    Hi.

hmm have you tried to attach the NOS letter you received from your embassy ( not sure if you received one) and ask politely to check if they received the NOS and say to them you are attaching in case it helps.
Not sure if this will help but doesn’t hurt to try.

    Update:
09/28 - USCIS received the case from DOS
    10/05 - Case approved!!!

Regarding the hard copy of the FR, I sent an email to 212ewaiver, but have not received any reply. My international office in principle wants this as part of the H1B application package, although it is not really needed for H1B.

Hi @konrad89 did you received your approval from USCIS only 7 days from receiving from DOS? Do you know your center? Mine is 15 days today and nothing so far since USCIS received, they transferred to another office.

I understand you came in a J1 visa. But if you have been 2 years in your home country you don't need a waiver at all. You have already completed the 2 years.

So what I am saying is that you do not need a waiver. You already spent 2 years in your country. You can simply go to the consulate and get whatever visa you want.

But I came again in 2019 as a J1 visa and I’m in the US since then as aJ1 visa holder, so I’m again subject to 2 years home residency right? Bc of that I’ll need a waiver to my current J1 visa right?

  6. Hi everyone!
I received a favorable recommendation from DOS last oct 5th. What happens now?
does anyone know long will take to receive my case number? I saw some people find the case number by chatting with someone. What’s is the website?

    thanks a lot!

Apparently DOS is doing things faster. It took only 32 days for my fav recommendation, and I had sponsor views.

If you fulfilled the 2 years then you don't need a waiver.

Why would you ask for one?

If you need a visa, you just go to your visa interview with proof that you completed the 2 years in your country (like information of where you lived, passport stamps, etc) and that's it.

Because I came again in a J1 visa. But it’s not sponsor by NIH or any other US gov inst.

but I guess bc I was sponsor by NIH before they ask for sponsor views anyway. And NIH gave favorable recom.

Yeah, it doesn't matter how far back it was, they will ask for sponsor views.

    Hi.
thanks I didn’t know that! But because I went back to my home country and stayed over the 2 year rule after my period at NIH, their rule about giving or not favorable recommendation based on job offer doesn’t really apply right? Because I fulfilled the 2 year requirement of that J1 correct? So, In theory I should receive favorable recommendation from NIH no matter what correct?
    Do you have any idea?

    thanks ☺️

You can try, but I don't know what information they have to put on the sponsor views. Maybe they have to fill in a form or they need a number.

    It doesn't hurt to ask.

Hi. Sorry for open this discussion again. Dou you know if DOS will request a sponsor views no matter when you were sponsored by US government? I was sponsored by NIH in my previous J1 8 years ago and it was such a small amount and my new J1 is not sponsored by NIH so I didn’t think they will request a sponsor views bc I went back to my home country and stayed there for years.

    thanks for any information

  10. Hi Everyone,

I’ve had a j1 before my current j1. This first J1 had a very small amount of funding from NIH, now with the waiver they requested a sponsor view. I’m wondering if this is related to my old j1 from 8 year ago? Which I went back to my home country and stayed there for 5 years? I mean no matter when you had a NIH funding they will always ask for sponsor view?
Does anyone know more about it?
    thanks for you help 😊

I first got the automatic reply, after which the DOS was uploaded. And then they replied after about 6 working days. I wish you the best.

    Hi MpetN

Just to say that I did send the email to DOS with my NOS,the officer answered me saying they received my NOS from embassy and today it’s showing up it the system! Thank you so much for you tip and I hope you get your FR soon! Keep us updated :)

I only quoted my full name, date of birth, case number, waiver category (NOS) and then reason for contacting them. Also I indicated my case number and waiver category as the subject of the email.

I submitted my application on June 30th. Everything was updated on the DOS website as at July 7th, except NOS. I contacted them in August for the NOS and they uploaded it and backdated it to July 6th. The waiver is still pending. This week would make it 10th week and I hope I get FR soon.

    Hi MpetN!

Thanks for your tips. I just wrote to DOS and attached the NOS in the email as you suggested.

Did you actually received any answer from them or was just those automatic reply but your NOS got updated in the system?

  13. 4 hours ago, MpetN said:

I had a similar case as you. In my case, I first contacted the DOS via email asking them about the update of the NOS and also attaching the NOS I got from my home country embassy. They updated the NOS after 24 hours and backdated the NOS to reflect the date my documents were received. In sum, you should first write the DOS. If they did not receive it, definitely they would let you know.

Thanks! I'll check with DOS first. Did you attached the third party barcode when you email DOS or was just the NOS?

Did you have your waiver already or how's your timeline so far?

  14. Hi everyone,

I sent were delivered by usps to Dos September 3

my embassy sent the NOS electronically on Sept 9 ( I thought that NOS needed to be send by mail but the said they just follow the protocol which is electronically. Does anybody know anything about this?)

Documents appear in the system Sept 16 ( only 13 days after they received- but NOS is not in the system yet). I saw many of you asking the embassy to resend NOS, when should I be concerned and ask my embassy to resend? And I know my docs went to system too fast and normally this is not what happen.

    Thanks everyone!
