  1. Hopefully, they forward it to DOS soon, and then the real wait begins. My case has been with USCIS for almost 7 months now and I have received nothing from them, no RFE and they haven't forwarded it to DOS either. It's getting depressing.
  2. How long did it take before you got a REF? How long did it take USCIS to forward your case to DOS?
  3. I am still waiting on USCIS to forward it to DOS. So far almost 7 months and still no update from them. I hope they send it to DOS soon
  4. Well, we submitted an expedite request today for good reasons (humanitarian) and USCIS denied it within 30 minutes!!!! I think they have software designed to deny such requests immediately, without even allowing us to submit supporting evidence for the expedite request. So now we are stuck at USCIS.
  5. Has anyone successfully tried expediting their case with USCIS? How did you argue for the expedite request?
  6. You should try again now they are officially over that time. Honestly it’s really ridiculous and the fact that your options are limited when dealing with DOS is making me feel helpless.
  7. Have you tried inquiring about “outside processing time”?
  8. Sadly that’s probably what’s going to happen. The DOS has been taking forever to decide these cases and even expedite requests are not working with them.
  9. Yes you case is definitely forwarded to the DOS. Now you can expect to hear from them In a few months. Hopefully you get a favorable recommendation. What did the RFE ask for if you don’t mind sharing?
  10. You’re lucky then but I still don’t understand why is USCIS taking long then in your case? They usually say people with no government funding get their case forwarded faster. Interesting
  11. I know but usually they never use all the processing time as mentioned above. They forward it to DOS within 4-5 months . This is based on the cases that I have seen before. The big delay is at the DOS but it seems now that even USCIS is starting to slow things down.
  12. It was from USCIS and they have a form on their website where you can fill it out the correct name and send it online.
  13. Yes, they received my case in early May 2022 and since then no updates whatsoever. They misspelled my name so I submitted a request to fix the typographical error and they replied in July that they changed it. Other than that no news. Not even an RFE. I am starting to worry because normally USCIS is relatively quick to forward it to DOS from previous cases, it doesn't take more than 4-5 months. So I don't know what's happening. When did you send yours? did you get an RFE?
  14. Typically cases that received Government funding. For example, Fullbright cases always request sponsor views and these are often negative and political. Did you receive government funding either from the US or your home country?
  15. Wow 7 people had to wait so long just to be rejected . This is so sad
  16. at least this is a small indication hardship cases are not at a total standstill!
  17. My case has been with USCIS for almost 6 months now and they haven't sent me anything, no RFE, and have not forwarded it to DOS either. It's getting depressing.
  18. Hi! I am in the same boat. Sent everything to USCIS in May and so far they still haven’t forwarded it to DOS. I saw they updated the processing time last week from 11,5 months to 10,5 months at USCIS. Hope they forward it soon!
  19. You will receive a receipt notice in a few weeks with a case number. You can create an account on the USCIS website and follow the case.
  20. The lawyer told me that when US government funding is involved , the DOS will always request sponsor views which ends up delaying the process even more. He also said that sponsor views are political and almost always negative . Not very encouraging but unfortunately I am afraid he is right.
  21. Does anyone know what is going on at the DOS? why is processing hardship cases taking them so long? why is hardship waiver processing longer than persecution?
