  1. I disagree with 1. OP, I think it would not be much to have your sponsor print out the I-134 and sign it with ink and then send it to you by express mail. Please also consider that just, yesterday the brand new I-134 form was provided by USCIS. Use this new form. Your sponsor also needs to call the IRS and request both tax transcripts and tax returns for the previous 3 years that have available records. It's an automated phone service and I got my documents around 2 weeks later, (1-800-829-1040) Also, why not provide W-2s, and any employment verification letters, a letter from your sponsor's boss AND Pay stubs for the most recent year (2023) to show on-going income. You really want to over-prepare for the income stuff considering how easy it is. But, definitely get an ORIGINAL, signed I-134 https://www.uscis.gov/i-134 2. - You can do the DS-160 whenever. The consulate will tell you how to provide the I-134, for me, we just bring it in person. 3. - It's pretty rare to be allowed in the U.S. to see your fiancé on a tourist visa before getting the K-1, we were denied for that exact purpose. I wouldn't want to make the interview any more complicated. I wouldn't bring it up. 4. - You will schedule your interview most likely after the DS-160 phase 5. - Here is what I have so far (from the American): - 3 year tax returns, 3 year tax transcripts, 3 year W-2s, 3 year 1099s (if any), and anything for 2023 such as 1 year pay stubs, 1 year bank statements, employment evidence letter, letter from employer, any other financial proof of employment your boss can provide - Signed, original I-134 (11/09/23 edition) - NOA1 & NOA2 letters, (might be ok with copies not sure. Make copies anyway but he can just keep the copies and send you the originals) NOA2 is essential - DS-160 confirmation page (printed) - NVC welcome letter (printed) - Receipt of paid fee for scheduling the interview / interview appointment copy - Copy of I-129F if possible - copies of original evidence you provided with I-129f - Evidence of on-going relationship (since filing for I-129f), any in-person meetings for example, chat logs, pictures, whatever - Marriage plans/location in the U.S. for when you arriver on the K-1 visa - Letters from sponsor's family members/friends saying that he is single and your relationship is valid. If they can get the letters notarized that would be perfect too Don't forget all the stuff you need, likely sealed medical check, sealed police background checks, it just depends on what the embassy tells you to either send them or bring with you. Once the NVC sends off your info to the embassy, the embassy will contact either you or the sponser. GL
  2. Hello, we are an American & Filipino couple interviewing for the K1 fiancé visa in Tokyo Japan. The embassy will likely tell us how to go about getting a Japanese background check soon. We also will surely want an NBI background check from the Filipinnes as well as the CINOMAR or "cert of no marriage." Does anyone have any idea of how to get the NBI background check in the best way? Do they have to send it to us sealed in a special envelope? My fiance is saying that they don't ever seal the background checks and just hand you a loose a piece of paper. I am worried that if we give the consulate officer a loose NBI background check, they might get upset that it was not sealed first. Or does the NBI have to send it to Tokyo? Thank you.
  3. 2022-08-19 NOA1, looks like we got approved! And it happened at like almost 09:00pm Central time, we are so ready for the interview now!
  4. Yes, Aug 19th N0A1 2022. Still waiting. My fiancé are right there with you!
  5. I don't think it's time to be worried yet. We are in the middle of the month so, I will be patient. August 19th myself as far as NOA1 is concerned. We are hopeful for a NOA2 in either August or September. Just hang in there. We are literally right there with you checking every day. NOA2 people, how did you see your NOA2? Text? The website? E-mail?
  6. We will look at getting my fiancé enrolled in school or some cool program while waiting for work authorization. There are plenty of options like that, so therefore I would never consider forfeiting our k1 application, getting married via Utah which would take the next month or two, and THEN we would have to meet again in-person which could take easily another 3-5 months, then prepare the application and apply for the spousal visa, another 1 month... Like hell no XD Although if you are just starting your process for meeting in-person and so-on, then yes I am sure the Utah zoom marriage route is a good thing to consider. I just can't justify switching from K1 to CR-1 considering the time it adds. K1 is not that bad. As far as the wait goes, I will be trying to visit my fiancé at least 3 times over the next 13 months, and hopefully I can make it to Japan for her interview as well.
  7. NOA1 - August 19th! My only idea for the upcoming Year-ish of waiting is visiting my fiancé at least 3 times in the next 12 months. We have literally just made it through 2.5 years of LDR and saw each other in the Philippines recently when border opened up (Fiancé lives in Japan). That trip allowed us to apply for the visa. Now, what's another year? Especially if Japan opens their borders and I can get in to see her every other 4 months.
  8. My understanding is that Japan does not have an interview backlog correct?
  9. With Japan FINALLY opening up. Hell, I've even just heard about New Zealand of all places even dropping travel restrictions soon... Then we will just plan on me travelling to see her instead. Haven't been to Japan in 3 years.
  10. It's brutal but, ya if you can't get in the country still, you just have to wait. Technically you could get work in China or something if there are jobs but, of course you want to do enough while together to prove an in-person meeting. Any idea on if China may ever drop this nonsense? It is so cruel and horrible. Japan is only just allowing people in with special permission granted by tourism/travel agencies. It's just crazy. Luckily though with their Yen taking a huge hit, they are only TODAY "talking" about letting people fly in as free tourists with little restrictions. China may be one of the last places to stop the "for science," "zero covid policy" madness but, I am sure that they just can't keep this **** up forever.
