  1. During my interview they did not ask the BC and passport of my fiance but better tho you have all the documents in you so you don't get the 221g. I just get done with my interview last November 25,2011 the only thing they get was the I-134 Affidavit of Support,1099 if he is self-emplyed or W-2, 2010 Tax Return, He make letter too stating on his work income, divorce paper then pictures. This is what I remember. Augie

this is regarding for my citizenship but yours is different i supposed.

  2. Island Girl, I was in a similar situation like you. There are two things that you can do, married filing separately (which I did 2 years ago) and that was before ROC. My IO didn't ask me any questions but all IOs are not the same. Your other option which you can do is married filing jointly (which is what I will be doing this year) but with an additional step, an additional form called Injured Spouse. This will ensure you get what is owed to you as you are NOT responsible for the debt with IRS prior to marrying him. The only reason I did not do it last year was that it did not make sense monetary. Whatever you do, do Not file head of household or single, this can have an adverse effect on your N400 interview. My hubby does not have a lien but we have a payment installment agreement with them for previous years (pre me). Your IO might or might not ask for some document from IRS showing his lien, but then again might not as the citizenship will be moreso about you and moral character. Good luck on your citizenship journey from one island girl to the next.

hello thank you so much for the information i really appreciate it!!!! you really answered my question direct to the point1 so i can file married joint including the injured spouse form?

  3. Hi.

you are not the only one who applied separatly. and should not be a problem during the interview. but be prepare to answer this question === > Why did u file separate?

    Wait for better answer Please.

COZ my husband has lien tax till now, so my husband said if i want to get tax return we do it separately.

  4. hello vjer's

im going to apply citizenship pretty soon but i have question about our income tax. Were planning to file married but separate, because its better to file separate so i can get my return, because my husband has an issues of irs before so if we file joint I cant get any return. Last 2 years ago we filed joint for removal sake. Now my question is does it affect my citizenship application if we file separate???
