Hello, I will be doing my visa interview next week and assuming all goes well (I've done the medical and have all the documentation ready), I will be granted the CR1 visa shortly. However, I am not planning to travel/move to the US until March of next year, which will be a few weeks after my 2nd wedding anniversary. A few questions: 1. Will I be automatically granted an IR1 visa upon arrival in the US, or is this something that I will need to bring up to the CBP officer? 2. If for some reason the CBP officer is not aware of the CR1 to IR1 conversion rule, and only grants me a CR1 visa, is there anything I can do to convert it afterwards? 3. What happens after I arrive in the US with my CR1 visa? Do I just hand over all documentation etc to the CBP officer, is there another interview etc? Thank you so much in advance!

Hello, due to some family matters I am considering rescheduling my CR1 interview to later in the year. I've read on visajourney that most people just wait until their interview appointment has passed before rescheduling a new interview, however, when I contacted my embassy, they've been giving me conflicting advice. They first mentioned that "The visa appointment cannot be re-scheduled unless the failure to appear for the interview is due to reasons beyond the applicant’s control, such as serious personal illness" and that if I fail to appear at the interview, my case will be cancelled "subject to Section 203(g) of the US immigration and Nationality Act". However, after asking for more information, I was told that I could reschedule my appointment on their online system, and that I should check their schedule periodically for future appointment slots. Has anyone had experience with rescheduling their interview at a later date, and were there any issues with this? Or is completely depending on each embassy's rules/policies? I'm just very worried of breaking any rules and potentially jeopardizing my visa, and the embassy only allows communication via email so there's been a lot of back and forth communication and the rules are super confusing. Thank you!

What's a better narrative? Is it better if I just say I'm starting the moving process? -
Travelling to US after CR-1 visa

yikes..hopefully that case was just an exception! I'm just visiting the US temporarily to attend a wedding and visit family and friends, and then I'll be going back to my home country to start the whole moving process. -

May 2023 NVC Submission
pizzapancake replied to ZRomper's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
Hello, I've submitted all my documents and am waiting for DQ- however when I check my case status on the CEAC website it still says 'Action required: Submit requested documents.' Is there anything I need to do at this point in time? Thanks. -
Hi, did you get an email once the police certificate got sent out? thanks

Hello, my CR-1 visa is at the NVC stage, and I'm researching what sort of documents I will need to send in. I was an international student on a student visa in the UK between 2012-2015, and I now reside in Hong Kong. Does that mean I'll need a police clearance certificate from the UK in addition to my Hong Kong police certificate, and how do they send it to someone who is residing overseas? Thank you.

hey Gordon, congrats on completing the visa process! my I-130 is now at the nvc stage- was just wondering, when did you go to the HK police to get a police certificate? did you do it straight after you received the nvc welcome letter, or did you have to hear back from the US consulate? thanks!

Hi everyone, my I-130 petition has just been approved and is currently at the NVC stage and I have received the welcome letter. I know that the next step is to pay online and then wait until NVC has processed payments and I can access Form DS-260. In the meantime, can I start to work on the civil documents including getting a police certificate? I reside in Hong Kong and they require you to do it in person, however I am travelling for 2 months starting Sunday and I would like to get this done ASAP to avoid any delays in my visa process. The requirements only state that I need the welcome letter as well as proof of identity- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/HongKong.html Thanks in advance!

CR-1 and L1-B concurrent filing?
pizzapancake replied to pizzapancake's topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Hello, I mentioned in a previous post that my husband and I are currently applying for the CR1 visa, we submitted our application in March 2022. I live in Hong Kong and he is a US citizen. My company has offered to recently offered relocate me to their US office under a L1-B visa. I've already checked and it looks like there is no issue filing both CrR-1 and L1-B at the same time. Assuming that I go to the US on a L1-B visa, when the time comes for my CR-1 embassy interview, would there be any issues for me to go back to Hong Kong, do the interview and then go back to the US shortly after? Or would I have to stay behind in Hong Kong so that I don't show that I'm intending to immigrate at that time? Thank you! -

Hello- my husband and I are currently applying for the CR1 visa, we submitted our application in March 2022 so there hasn’t been much progress yet.I live in Hong Kong and he is a US citizen. Recently, the company I work for, which is a multinational company, has offered to relocate me to their US office under a L1-B visa. Is it possible for me to apply for both visas without any issues/conflicts? Thank you.
