  1. Looks like recommendations mostly go out on tuesdays or wednesdays.
  2. Right there with you at 15 months in 4 days 😢 my lawyer says cases averaging at 17-24 months at DoS now. Like, what’s the point at this rate? This is almost then making it not a feasible way to try to get a hardship waiver without actually removing it.
  3. New recommendation on a case (not mine) from January 2022. While most of the rest pending from August, September and October 2021. Definitely they're not going chronologically.
  4. I second this. Through the ECFMG (oasis portal) when you're renewing the J-1, there is a question/tick box that asks if you ever applied for a waiver, and where in the waiver process it is. I applied for a new J-1 renewal while my waiver was pending at the DoS and got it approved.
  5. If your HHS waiver gets approved, your hardship case is thrown out of the window. Essentially. So only pull the HHS or other waiver trigger if you think there is no hope in hardship.
  6. I see. Oh well, Vermont will be brutal to me then I guess. apart from Conrad 30 there are waivers that have no limits such as Delta and newly Appalachian waiver. Check it out. They keep rolling physicians and have no deadlines or limits. But expect to be in a remote area.
  7. Can you clarify on PP and VSC (Vermont?) not sure what you mean by that
  8. I believe yes, you should have taken your USMLEs and able to get a medical license as the underserved route is sponsored by the health department of the state. the only other path I see for you would be an army recruitment of some sort and staying on the reserve for 10 years or active duty for 3 or so. Not sure if they take researchers but if they do you’ll be forgiven off the 2-year rule and you can apply for naturalization in a year (bypassing green card). And wow, I didn’t realize they can be that scrutinizing. I’m applying for an O-1 soon through an academic center but their lawyers seem confident. Let’s see, or hope the waiver comes prior to even needing that. good luck to us.
  9. I’m not sure what your background is but if you’re an international medical graduate then you can always just find a job in an underserved area (Appalachian or Delta) and work there. Otherwise, you can either try a J-1 extension somehow, or persecution route if it applies (takes less time). good luck with the O-1! What was the RFE about?
  10. Try to find a temporary 1 year position to extend your stay on J-1 or get an O-1 if you’re eligible (you’ll have to leave and come back). Otherwise, ask your lawyer. Don’t overstay if you can. It will be detrimental in the future when you apply for a green card. My lawyer told me they got an approved case today from January 2021. They’re very backlogged and it seems like the wait time is closer to 18-20 months rather than 11-13.
  11. Waiting since early September 2021 at the DoS. I’m from Middle East.
  12. When you file a DoS DS-3035 you will be issued a WRD number. That's the number you track on https://j1visawaiverstatus.state.gov Good luck to us. I'll let you know when I get my rec (pending since Sep 2021 so now 14 months+)
  13. Few months = 12+ months at least. My case along side few others have been pending at the DOS since last year September and even august. I hope they fix their backlogs.
  14. The ECFMG sponsored J-1 physicians are not allowed to go the no objection route even though they’re not funded. That’s the most common reason why we go through hardship or other weird routes.
  15. I wish they publish real processing times. Like what's the average time for those 262 hardship cases from 2021?
  16. Update: no updates. April 2021: filed USCIS September 2021: USCIS on hold September 2021: DoS received 612 613 as of today status: PENDING congressional inquiry: just wait, man. first come first serve. Very frustrating.
