Hi all,
I had my VAWA petition approved about three years ago on the grounds of bigamy. I’m now approaching the point where I can apply for U.S. citizenship. However, I have not yet formally divorced from the previous marriage. At the time, my attorney advised that since my spouse failed to disclose her prior existing marriage, our marriage was never legally valid to begin with.
That said, I would like to proceed with obtaining a formal divorce and would appreciate any recommendations for a good attorney who can assist with this process.
@Sandra G. – I’d also appreciate your insight on whether this unresolved marital status could present any issues during the naturalization process. I have no criminal record or removal orders.
Thank you all in advance for your guidance and support.
