I meet my boyfriend in 2018 while living in Ghana. We are planning the wedding for Dec 2022 and have seen each other multiple times over the past 4 years. Which visa process is easy and fastest? I am hoping to start planning a family 2 years before I am 30 and want him here in the states by then. Should we get officially married in December or just wait till he moves to the states? Can we have a ceremony then do the K1 visa? Is the k3 or IR1 visa faster?

Get married and file for i130, that's your best bet...

    Hello All,

So I’m having a little difficulty in knowing what steps are the proper steps to take in filing for my Husband. I’m a US Citizen and I married a Ghanian in Ghana. He’s currently in Ghana while I’m back home in the states. I haven’t started any filing process because I’ve been given all sorts of answers and I’m at a lost. I was told by a lawyer here in the states to have my husband come here on a tourist visa and just make him stay and start his filing. I know that isn't the correct way but I felt that if I was going to pay for a lawyer might as well get to see  my husband sooner. With that being said I was also told that because we married already that he wouldn’t be able to come to the states on a tourist visa. Can he come to the states on a tourist visa? Why would he be denied to travel to see his family while still going back to his home and work place?

If he doesn’t come on a tourist visa, what is the best and fastest visa I should apply for?  Once he obtains his green card he will be joining the national guard. Is there any benefit to the fact that we are already married? Most of the forums are for Fiancé’s not already married……..

    please help me lol.

I think you should file for i130 that's the best way to go, the wait process in Ghana is crazy,

Zain1244 and more00 how do you find out what month they are working on? My husband and I were DQ'd in August 2020 and have heard nothing. I've emailed NVC and the Embassy and they only give me generic no answer bs. Please help!

@eatright1I think you should have your interview date by June or July 2022...

May 2022 is already scheduled for July 2020 so just stay patient for a little while you're almost there...

And when you have your interview date please update us so we know what's going on there...

Well, all documents were intact. The CO didn’t request any additional documents. It was AP the afternoon after the interview, then it changed to issued the next day.

It does happen, two of my friends got thier visas the same day, one received his passport  in a week the other received it after one month, that's what they do you can't understand them..

But my question is when were you DQed?

Thanks Zain1244!  That's actually a bit surprising to me but I certainly believe it is possible.  The only part that might make that a little problematic is that my wife's mother only speaks Twi, doesn't speak English.  So if she were to be called for the interview by herself, would that pose a problem?

As for guessing the interview date I'm just making the assumption that if they are working on late July 2020 DQ's right now, and her mother is late Oct, that is a 3 month difference.  So if they are scheduling May 2022 interviews now, maybe she'd get one in Aug/Sept 2022?  But of course that is based on many assumptions....

@bunky623 with her speaking only Twi, I think you can call the embassy here to find out how to go around this situation ahead of time,  hopefully they might give you some insight on how to work that out...

Hello.  My wife's mother was DQ'ed in late Oct 2020 so I'm hoping that they might get an interview sometime in Aug or Sept of this year??  But one thing I'm concerned about is her father was not DQ'ed until early Jan. 2021.  Even though both were filed together with the same paperwork, for some reason they approved the mother right away.  Then they found some issue with the marriage certificate with the father (even though it was the same document that was approved for the mother) and we had to upload a new copy.  So there is a 2.5 month gap between the DQ dates between mother and father....How do you think this will be handled?  Will they pull the father up to the same interview as the mother or will they push the mother out to the date of the father?

I'm assuming they will want to interview them together...but I'm not expert here.

    Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated!

@bunky623I'm not an expert though but ones they were not approved at the same time I believe the woman will go for her interview b4 the man does,  I've seen such situation b4...

And with the interview date Chale no one knows oooo...
