  1. Mother was DQ'ed the end of Oct. 2020. Father was DQ'ed mid-Jan 2021. I assume they pulled the father in with the mother so that they could interview together. Attorney told us it would be cheaper to send the birth certificate from U.S. than to try to get another certified copy. According to him "I understand there are shortage of paper to print new birth certificates, and obtaining a new one might cost a fortune." So I guess we will look at the best way to ship it.
  2. Thanks. I assume you meant to say "Generally the only credible way for a such a difficult to replace item isn’t USPS, I use DHL"? Just to be clear, you are recommending DHL?
  3. Yes my wife was born in Ghana. I asked the attorney the same question: Can they get another certified copy there in Ghana? But maybe that is more work than just mailing her copy from the U.S. to Ghana?
  4. Hello. My wife (a U.S. citizen) is bringing her parents here from Ghana. They finally have an Interview scheduled on Dec. 19th in Accra. The attorney that has been helping us with the documents says that they will need to bring the daughter's (my wife's) original birth certificate to the interview. Is that really true? If so, we'll need to figure out how to mail it (or UPS) to Ghana prior to the interview. Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello. Since there has been so little information lately regarding interview status in Ghana, I thought I would share my info. My wife is petitioning for her parents to come to the U.S. under an IR-5 visa. Her mom was DQ'ed on 10/29/2020. Her dad was DQ'ed on 1/12/2021 (simply because a different agent processed each application). Well yesterday (10/20/2022) we finally got the Interview email! Evidently they combined both applicants together and both are scheduled for an interview on 12/19/2022. So for those counting, that Interview date is almost 26 months from the DQ date of her mother. I suspect most people here are concerned about IR1/IR2 visa's, but I suspect the timeline is pretty close to IR5. Hope that helps. .
  6. Exact same thing happened with my wife's parents. Mother's marriage certificate was approved right away but father's was rejected. I assume it was because different NVC officers reviewed their docs. We ended up having to upload a slightly different version of the marriage certificate to get the father's accepted. Net result is that the mother has a DQ date 2.5 months earlier than the father, so I'm assuming they will be interviewing separately.
  7. My wife and I are working with an immigration attorney in Accra to get her parents over here. I probably could have done it myself but just decided I wanted a little extra help. PM if you are interested in details. Of course an attorney can't help with the very long wait times (her Mom was DQ'ed in late Oct. 2020 and we don't expect an interview for another 2 or 3 months). Good luck...the process definitely takes patience
