My OH got a letter last night, from NVC!
im soooo happy, stressing over the past couple of days had done me no good, and yesterday, putting the USCIS number into the telephone automated system and being told we didnt have an application in didnt help!
now what do i do with the LDN number...is there somewhere i can check its progress?
It took about 2 weeks to get packet 3 from the London Embassy but I booked a medical for about 3 weeks after I had the LND number with Knightsbridge doctors http://www.visamedicals.info/us.asp . Make sure your fiance has the Police Certificate since that takes about 40 days after receipt of the request by the police. There are scans of the UK packet 3 here http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbna...y&uid=30186 and the up to date forms referenced in Packet 3 can be found here http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/ . You can order your tax transcripts here http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=110571,00.html . Having the required documents ready in advance helps to speed things up.
Congratulations and good luck
hi,
thanks for that, im in the uk, my OH is in USA, i have the police report
my OH has to send me (so i am lead to believe) a carbon copy of the original petition sent to vermont...yes? (gawd...this was over 900 sheets of paper...poor postie! lol) what else does he need to send me and how soon does he need to send it? he will probably be using DHL.
anyone have any estimates on how soon my interview date would be, if say...i got packet three off a day or so after recieving it?

ive just been on the uscis website to check and we havnt had a touch since the 5th nov, does this mean that we may have moved onto the next stage? my OH recieved the NOA2 the other day, im trying to get some kind of idea how long i have to wait for the packet 3, but i have no idea where in the world the petition is now...im hoping it is on this side of the pond already, im hoping that i will be wrapped up in nowt but a ribbon
...under the xmas tree by 25th dec...is this wishful thinking? why do they drag their feet at this time of year...knowing that it is such a hard time to spend alone...
i dont want to call them because i feel like i would be stepping on the lawyers toes...i dont know if i can call them because we have a lawyer working for us...
im getting more and more wound up every day...i know it is coming soon and i should be patient...but it isnt soon enough and patience isnt easy now, it is my OH birthday tomorrow and i miss him.

hi,
i have been sending off requests for quotes to export my poopie over the past week and today i got an 'estimate' back...which has made me question this as one i recieved previouly told me my poopie had everything she needed except her rabies injection...this company i heard from today requests different! HELP! prior to recieving this estimate i contacted airborne pets in USA to ask what they knew and there was no mention of further injections needed...
bear with me...lol...
now, last month, i took her to the vets and asked the vet to give her everything she needed so she can be crated up on the day and boarded on the plane all ready for her flight to her new home, the vet was a little unsure if there was any new regulations as to exporting dogs to america so she called DEFRA...(LMAO) who after her describing the dog and the situation was asked 'and what kind of snake is that' now, i know my dog is a slippery pooch...but she definatly has fur! she said to the woman on the phone ' you so obviously cant help me any further' and hung up laughing!!
my poopie has had her 'annual injections' and is microchipped and had rabies injection in october...she doesnt (apparently) require a pet passport as she, like me, will not be returning to the UK!
i requested glasgow airport as this is where i will be flying from (the company did inform me that i would save £250 if i flew her from edinburgh so she could stop off in germany for a short visit...nope...i want her on the same flight as i am on and i certainly dont want to divert to germany!)
i have attached the 'estimate' i recieved today. the highlighted red are what my poopie currently has been injected for, does anyone else know if the rest is actually needed, the vet seems to think that the rest is only for entering australia.
has anyone here sucessfully exported their pooch to america without all these 'unneeded' injections? can anyone here advise me on exporting my poochie please?

not such a happy proposal...
my OH first visited in April this year, his visit was booked for 10 days...i got three weeks with him thanks to a meeting with a clydesdale and whitehaven general hospital!!
the day before he was due to leave, i decided the way we would take our minds off the parting we would go horse riding in the lake district, not any old horses but clydesdales, i had watched these horses journey on tv from the isle of skye to set up their new home in millom.
the day was the only day of dans trip that it never rained, a bit windy but we felt these horses were sound and sure footed, my horse was called lugsy, he held his ears down and was only thinking of getting back to the field to go to sleep...dans we niknamed killer...though we felt safe...everything was perfect, we set out across the fields and taking in the beautiful scenery, shooting photographs and having a giggle, then i realised that the horses weren't as sure footed as we first expected, freaking at bags blowing in the hedgerows and caged magpies on the path (no idea why they were caged)
about three fields in from the nearest road the guy in charge asked if we wanted to canter, neither of us fancied this and were quite happy plodding along, though he started to trot and our horses decided this was a good idea, dans horse didnt, he wanted to bolt and didnt take instruction well...freaking out and tossing dan to the floor, the leader just stood there and his 'assistant' just sat on her horse...i flew off my horse to see if dan was ok and got no help from the two who were supposed to be first aid trained, dan had completly shattered his wrist and hurt his back, while the guy was on the phone to his boss (not the ambulance)
while dan was on the floor realling in pain he asked me to marry him, i was like...of course...you daft bat...but you didnt have to jump off the horse to ask me! trying to keep his spirits up as we waited for the ambulance...which never arrived as it was never called, instead the boss arrived with his landrover and they bundled dan and myself into it, the journey across the fields were bad enough for me, for dan it must have been horendous! this i thought was why the ambulance never arrived! i assumed it would be waiting for us to get out onto the road...or even the farm! nope...no ambulance to be seen!
back at the stables, dan was in agony and the boss and his wife were only bothered about him signing the uncompleted accident form, i was fuming and all i wanted was to get him to the hospital safely and have him checked out, we drove through the lakes, me stuffing cigarettes into his mouth to keep him distracted (i know, not a good idea but have you ever driven on the A595??) oh, they still asked for the £90 for the ride!
at whitehaven general and got him booked in, his wrist and back xrayed, he had fractured a vertebrae and broken all the bones which joined his hand to his wrist...they plastered him up and put him on ward...the weekend was spent waiting for the back specialist to arrive, he said dan was very lucky, the accident could have paralised him, the vertebrae wasnt compleatly fractured. surgery was carried out on his wrist on sunday (the accident happened on friday) three wires holding his fingers and wrist in place.
he was in hospital until wednesday and wasnt allowed to fly for another week...the nurses will never forget the yank who broke his back on a clydesdale...they couldnt get enough of his humour!! lol
the guy who owns the horses visited dan while he was in hospital, bringing with him the now completed accident form, we waited for him to leave before looking at what they had written, no mention of dans back injury...no mention of the horses freaking at things...no mention of no ambulance called, except that we never requested one when we did...!!
thanks to continental airlines being such nice people we got him booked on a flight home.
looking back on it, it was an awful thing to happen and i really wish we went white water rafting instead, we giggle about it now, but we still cannot believe the behaviour of the stable owners and staff...the total lack of help and the way they were only interested in protecting themselves when it came to the accident form.
he has visited twice since...avoiding horseriding and extreme sports...lol...we will save those for when i am where i am supposed to be, instead we have to suffice with the safe world of secondlife where we spend all our time together.
i wish they would hurry up and sort my visa!!

i look like an old fart and my OH looks like a ninja

hi
we are new here, thought i would add a post here as we filed in june also and were approved on nov 02.
previously i had registered with the ucis website for email updates, but after hearing nothing for what seemed like a lifetime, on sunday my fiance was driving past the church we are hoping to marry in when he had 'a feeling' and when he got home he checked the website to find that we had been approved 2 days previously...weeee, we are buzzing to say the least!
congrats to everyone else who has been through this and those going through this...if i only was my dog...all i would need is a rabies injection!!

Hi everyone! I'm a newly member here, just wanted to ask... about the engagement...My fiance proposed to me online through webcam...and it means the ring is still with him... so what if I still don't have an Engagement ring during my interview? cause and he'll gonna be here in December after my Interview Nov.27... Is it ok even I don't have a ring yet, Is there a possibility tha I get deny?...please help...thanks!
hi,
just a thought...(and a warning)
getting engaged is all well and good but dont post the ring! especially if the reciever lives in the UK!
my fiance made this mistake he wanted so much for me to have it, i recieved it and a month later i recieved the import duty bill amounting to £675, there is no way out of paying this duty as the UK only accept gift value of £36 anything above this is charged this stupid duty
after trying to explain this to customs that it was an engagement ring and therefore classed as a gift, they would hear none of it...they want their duty paid!
so...think first, soon you will be together and recieving the ring in person from the person who is supposed to deliver it is so much nicer that recieving the ring from the post man!!

hi all,
im new here and after scanning through a few posts i thought i would ask a few questions...maay have been asked previously but nothing in the forums is springing out as 'the same as'
im a UK citizen and my fiance is US, we have met in person three times, he came here...loves england but couldnt live here...we drive on the wrong side! so it is me who is TRYING to get over there as quick and painless as possible.
we hired a lawyer because we want nothing to be left to chance...sneeking in via mexico or canada is definatly a no go!
heres what we have done so far...
04/07 : dans first visit
26/04/07 : dan proposed (another story!)
17/06/07 : vermont recieved our paperwork
06/07 : dans second vist
07/07 : i recieved my police check back from scotland yard and local police
09/07 : dans third visit (he brought two suitcases, one was big enough for me to sneek into)
02/11/07 : the first part of our application was approved (btw dont bother registering for email notification with the ucis website...we are still waiting for that!)
our lawyer told us that the process would take 4 months as we have a 'strong case' the initial process time took 4 and half, and every day was dragging longer...waiting.
now...what happens next? besides more waiting...and what kind of costs and time scales? we were hopeing to be together by christmas (07 not 08!)
other questions i have are
does the medical have to be carried out in london? or can this be done locally?
once the visa interview is 'approved' do i get the visa there and then or is it more waiting?
Exporting our dog to america
in United Kingdom
Posted · Edited by waitingsucks
hi, thanks selly...
i have been looking into this alot since i got that quote above, i feel that pet export companies are only here to rip us off.
for anyone else who is looking at transporting a pet to america (and beyond!) ive added what i have found out.
what the pet requires:
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dq/animal.htm#dogs
the KENNEL or CRATE:
has to be to IATA (International Air Transport Association) standard, contacting pet exporters to purchase one of theirs is not a good idea...they add on about £60 - £80 plus a delivery cost. some export companies build their own to your pets measurements...personally i would go for the *google* VARI KENNEL type of carrier, at least you would be getting your monies worth! (for them to build a kennel would cost nearly as much as the varikennel) make sure your pet measurements are accurate as the airline is strict on the pet comfort issue, you can find out here
Kennel info
the two airlines which selly mentioned...info here...
NWA
Delta
(so far ive found that continental, british airways and virgin only use export companies)
hope this helps anyone
