  1. i really dont believe it, after reading here that there is at least 8 week waiting for london interview dates and i have mine in 2 weeks!! i posted off the packet 3 forms less than two weeks ago and i called the embassy this morning, the guy was very friendly and told me that they posted out the notice of the interview date, i just havnt received yet...(my postie sleeps in...i got it by dinnertime though...lol...)i should go for my medical at least 5 days before the interview, i explained to him that i am at the other side of england and that two journeys i could not afford, he said that my visa would be delayed which after all the waiting i think i can hang on a few more days for my visa in my hand! plus, i wasnt expecting an interview so soon...i still have things with the house to sort out. so all being well i will be in america with my mad yank just after new year... (L)

i have arranged my medical for the 18th december in the afternoon so i have all day to get to london and im stopping over night for the interview at 9am the following morning, i am sooo bricking it!

can anyone point me in the right direction for the visa and courier prices (how much money do i need to take to the embassy?)

also does anyone have any suggestions for a cheap hotel withing walking distance (10 - 20 mins) of the embassy please.

    weeee :D

  2. how long do you have to have lived in another country for the embassy to ask for a police certificate?

i lived in germany and holland for 3 months each back in 1989, the legaliseation department in germany say 6 months but the dutch 'justice' department have no idea.

i know the embassy only ask for all the addresses lived at for 6 months or more since the age of 16, but the fact that i was there might send them in the direction of asking for these police certificates, just to delay me (and this would be my luck!)...all i can find out about these certificates is that both countries call them 'certificates of good behavior' and they are to be requested by the embassy...(or employer!?) i have no idea what to do about this...do i really need them? i am told by the german place that if i am asked i should direct the embassy to their website which tells them...in german...that they will only issue a certificate for more than 6 months residency...how do i get the embassy to do this should i need to??

the time i spent in germany and holland was more like an extended holiday...although we were renting a house and my boyfriend at the time was working there, i was kind of non existant to the german and dutch authorities...but i still put that i was there on my visa application...now i am stuck as to whether this will delay things... :help:

  3. i thought packet 4 was the notice of the interview date?

anyway...we arnt april filers, but were waiting to receive packet 4...if it is packet 4...maybe it is packet 3a?? no idea  ...it will get here when it gets here...nothing anyone can do to make it come any quicker...no amount of wishing or wanting will pressure the embassy into rushing anything before christmas...so we can only look forward to a spring wedding! weeee!!

NJ is soooo nice in the spring! :luv:

  4. ok, i tried to save some money by having the injections carried out by my own doctor...but i got packet 3 yesterday and i guess they want me to spend money...on the website it only lists the injections, xray, aids and syphilis test...but in the instructions there is more!!

examination of sputum (i hope this is spit! lol) £90

    DNA specimen collection £85

    drug and alcohol collection £40

    just not on! lol

also is the aids and syphilis test a blood test? or am i made to 'strip and spread?'

also, in the questionnaire i will be ticking no to everything besides depression...this was 4 years ago and only caused by lack of employment and a recent split with an ex, would this mean i would have to visit a phsycologist? my doctor refered me to a phsycologist at the time but they were as much use as a chocolate teapot...this is in my doctors notes...do the knightsbridge doctors or the embassy get a look at my doctors notes? should i just tick no anyway...as it was a short lived depression and the only thing that is depressing me now is being away from my OH and the constant waiting for the embassy to follow procedure!!

  5. i nearly posted the forms without the checklist...until i re read the instructions!! then i included the checklist and pages 1 - 4 of the instructions, i also wrote a cover letter saying that i couldnt arrange a medical date until i got an interview date, hopefully they will give me an interview date soon so i can contact the doctors, i phoned the doctors last week, they were helpful and told me that they are not too busy at the moment and as long as i gave them a few days notice of my interview date they would do their best to accommodate me

i am also waiting for some paperwork from my OH which should be here by wednesday...DHL permitting...(i also told the embassy this) as soon as i get this i will call the embassy to ask how they are doing with my interview date...

would the embassy issue a date prior to getting the medical..? or have i gone about this all wrong?

  6. i have still to have Hepatitis B, Varicella, Pneumococcal and Influenza, which these start in December. the nurse gave me the boxes and said that once they had all been done she would put a letter together for me so that i can take it to my medical in london…when the time comes…WHEN!!?

How old are you? If you are over 19 and under 50, you do NOT need Hep B, Pneumococcal or Influenza -- check the chart again if you doubt me! ;)

You also do not need Varicella, as it is not normally administered in the UK. If you can prove you had chicken pox (varicella), they will note that as well. My husband didn't have any of his medical records to prove this, but declared he had had it as a kid and showed a very faint scar and this was sufficient.

If you're the right age, you are done with the jabs! Show the nurse the chart again and bring to her attention the age requirements for the jabs. She should then do a letter for you. Tell her there's no need for the varicella, as you say you've already had it -- make sure she notes this -- backing up with a scar can help.

Also, you didn't need the Influenzae B jab, oh well...

lmao...trust me! i took a print of injections from the knightsbridge page, i guess it is the influenza one which is killing my arm!...i hope it doesnt kill me!...lol

ill let her know tomorrow not to bother ordering the varicella as i do have two scars, on my hand and foot, ill also remember to get the letter!

im surprised i can even think straight at the moment!

    thanks

  7. hi, thanks all...

first one, first! lol i had 8...lol...Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Haemophilus Influenzae B, Measles, Mumps and Rubella…gawd my arms ache!

i have still to have Hepatitis B, Varicella, Pneumococcal and Influenza, which these start in December. the nurse gave me the boxes and said that once they had all been done she would put a letter together for me so that i can take it to my medical in london…when the time comes…WHEN!!?

the varicella the nurse is ordering in for me in a few days, she said it doesnt matter than i have already had the disease she shoot one in my arm anyway, just to be safe! i have to pay for this one and the hepatitis b, which comes to less than what knightsbridge are wanting for varicella alone!!

i dont get how the london practice can get away with giving all the injections in one go, the nurse told me that one of the injections is given over 21 days...i cant remember which, i was concentrating on the blood running down my arm at the time! lol

hopefully all i will have to pay on the day of the medical is £200.

my right arm is killing me, she said my face would swell and i might get a rash...ho hum...the things we do for love!

  8. promising news!

so long as the temperature is right on the day of the flight as i am looking (hoping for) a january flight, she needs a letter from her vets saying she can travel in temperatures to -8 deg, should the temperature be that on arrival at JFK (they will accept her anyway up to 8 deg) along with the fit to fly letter.

she has to be comfortable in the veri kennel 500 size. which i think is the kennel i was getting next week.

my quotes were pleasing too! $110 to go as excess baggage or £790 to fly on her own. there is a customs clearance of approx $50 at JFK

the only thing is she or we would have to fly from heathrow to JFK which im at the other side of england and my OH is in NJ, edinburgh to newark wouldve been nicer...but i am soooo pleased i have got this sorted...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

MY POOPIES GONNA BE AN AMERICAN AKITA!!

  9. im sorry about my venting, it has just become so frustrating, especially after the calls i made today, i have just been talking to my OH and he reminded me that on his visits his case was packed up with electronics...wires...etc...and no one batted an eye...yet when we want to transport our dog we get told that we cant because some companies want to make money out of what happened on 11 sept!! what we gonna do...plant a bomb up her  ! i am so annoyed, all the quotes i have been getting are for silly money...when i already know how much it cost to DIY (if i could :crying: ) they are making such a profit out of this!!

with this and the whole visa and waiting process...i sooo dont want to get rid of my dog...im not that kind of owner...but this is killing me. i wish the sea would just dry up and ill walk her across!!

thanks for the link :) ...ill try yet another airline, maybe this one will accept that some people just dont have oodles of money!

  10. after two hours of being tossed across the american telephone network i am told that since sept 11 no airline will carry pets without going via a pet export company (this was from Delta (KLM)

pretty much sucks if your looking to save a few bucks on transporting your pet!

(im not sure about carry on pets...but this is defiantly for pets in cargo)

  11. my OH fell off a horse, shattered his wrist and damaged a vertebrae, he was admitted for a week and not charged a penny for xrays, treatment or the stay in hospital.

they even gave him a nice (not) back brace to protect his back on the flight home.

i suppose it depends on which hospital you are admitted to.

  12. hi,

im having the medical injections carried out by my own doctor over the next few weeks, starting in an hour :help:

could someone tell me what is required in the form of proof that i have had these please?

would a letter printed on the surgery's letterhead be adequate?

    also

was anyone ill after having these injections?

    also

i had chicken pox when i was a child, my doctor has no record of this in my notes, how do i prove i have had the disease and do i need the injection? if i do need it i would rather my doctor gave it as it saves £25 on the bill! (he is only charging for varicella and hepititis b  ) i also got measles polio and rubella vacinations when i was at school (im 38 now) do i need these injections?

    cheers for any help!

  13. Gorgeous! She looks exactly like my old Akita! :o She was a long haired Akita....I filled bags full of hair when she blew her coat

thanks, she is blowing her coat at the moment...she kept hold of it last year...so i guess i have double the fur ball...lol...

i had her dad and brother too...love the long haired ones, id love to have one! :luv:
