  1. OK, so it seems that we definitely need a marriage certificate then. Thanks for confirming!
  2. Do we need a marriage certificate for this or a final certified marriage license? The place where we are going said they normally just sign and certify the original marriage license on the day of the ceremony. But they also said they will issue a marriage certificate for a fee. And how many copies do we need?
  3. Thanks for your reply- according to Mytruelove18 above, not submitting it now could delay your case processing because of an RFE?
  4. OK, so it sounds like it's better to submit all at once. On the other hand MissCloud's answer below seemed to indicate that you can take it with you to your interview. I'm also confused about what vaccines are required. I'm getting conflicting info from different doctors.
  5. Hello, I've heard others say that it's better to submit the I-693 together with the other forms as it will save time. But based on doctor's appointments and the length of time it takes to get the results back, it will probably delay submitting our forms by a few days. Is it better to wait and submit the I-693 together with the other forms, or submit it separately, later?
  6. Greetings forum members, I am filling out all of the 485, 130, 131, 765 forms etc. And they often ask for an address- usually a physical address and sometimes a mailing address. What does physical address mean in this context? How is this distinguished from the mailing address? Does the physical address mean an address where the AOS applicant is really living? Thank you for any responses.
  7. We don't have any POAs but may have some other official paperwork that could be useful.
  8. Yeah, I was asking whether they can get an account without an SSN which you said some banks will allow you to do right after getting married.
  9. I was wondering about that. At what point in the AOS process can the spouse be added onto your credit card, open a joint bank account, etc.?
  10. I think we might have some evidence as our landlord submitted a residence permit application for both us. And as I said I will ask the landlords to make statements. Our child is still young and we are caring for him at home! : ) I just remembered that we had joint health insurance so that should help. Thanks for the ideas!
  11. No I lived overseas. We lived together for many years in foreign countries.
  12. Hello everyone, I have a question on this point as we do not have what people usually talk about using to demonstrate a bona fide marriage. For example, although my fiancee (soon to be wife) and I have lived together for many years, we never had any joint bank accounts. And although we lived in a number of different places together, it was always only my name on the rental contract. On the other hand we do have a child together, so that would seem to hold a lot of weight but not sure if it will be sufficient. We could also ask our previous landlords to write letters stating that my future wife lived with me at their place. I could also probably dig up previous B2 visa applications that indicate that she wanted to visit my family or that I would support her while in the US. And we also traveled to many places together so there should be plane reservations that have both of our names on them. Does anyone have a sense of whether this will be sufficient? Is there anything else we can submit? It seems that we may need to rely on signed statements from many people as a form of evidence. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
  13. OK, no problem, thanks for your extensive response. That's an interesting up-close view of what happens when you send your documents.
  14. Or perhaps an additional question is what the G-1145 notification enables you to do. On the G-1145 form itself it states that "We will send the e-notification within 24 hours after we accept your application...The e-mail or text message will display your receipt number and tell you how to get updated case status information... The e-notification does not grant any type of status or benefit, rather it is provided as a convenience to customers. USCIS will also mail you a receipt notice (I-797C), which you receive within 10 days after your application has been accepted; use this notice as proof of your pending application or petition". I assume the I-797C is the NOA1 people on this forum are referring to. What's unclear to me from this is exactly what case status information you can get with the receipt number and the e-notification.
  15. This is similar to what many others have posted here already. My question at this point is "How long does it take to get the receipt letter for the I-485? Is the notification from the G-1145 sufficient for this purpose?" See my post above about one hour ago. ^^^^ You reply seems to be related to that in a way as you are saying that until you receive the NOA1, you can't rely on the immigration officer to look into the system to see that they have already submitted an I-485.
  16. How long does it take to get the receipt letter for the I-485? Is the notification from the G-1145 sufficient for this purpose?
  17. Hi, Thanks Poh. She has her passport and no driver's license here yet. So you're saying even after her I-94 has expired its safe to travel by air? At this point we are looking to submit her I-485 packet before traveling, but even then, we probably won't have time to get the NOA1 receipt back from USCIS in time to travel. I saw that you can request e-notification with the G-1145 but am not sure if that is sufficient.
  18. Hi, I don't think either of us can apply for another citizenship. I had a lot of good answers in this thread, thanks.
  19. Hi, thanks, I think this question has been answered by a few people. Thanks, that's good advice and it sounds like the way forward is clear.
  20. OK, good, thank you for your information and for helping me to assess different options.
