  1. Congratulations!! What do you mean by 3 questions about “security”? Can you elaborate?
  2. Hi fam! Thanks for sharing your journey as it’s rare to find people who are doing vawa abroad. do you mind sharing your interview experience? What kind of questions did they ask you? I know only 2 people who did it abroad and they said they were interrogated about the abuse and everything in details.
  3. Hi @Jer50 how long did your 601 take from submission to approval?
  4. How long after receiving the GC based on vawa can someone submit the N400? my friend just received his GC so I heard that we can submit N400 in less than 18 months. Is there a certain requirement or rule to submitting the N400 in 18 months from GC? He’s a vawa beneficiary and was married to a USC, he just received his GC based on vawa self petition. thank you
  5. Congratulations fam! I’m currently going through the same process for years now. Can I send you a DM regarding your interview experience? Thank you
  6. Do you have any info about the wait to receive the interview letter after DQ in Bahrain?
  7. Apparently the NVC and usps set up the mail sent to Potomac falls to be delivered to Sterling VA (locations close to each other) So @Demise is right, there will be no delay. Hopefully I get the DQ next week with no delays. Thanks anyway
  8. My attorney mailed my documents to the NVC using usps, but she mailed it to the address for express mail carriers, not the address for usps as shown on the picture. is this going to be an issue? Or delay the review of my documents?
  9. @Pinkrlion hey fam Did you submit a visa size photos with a white background included in the NVC package? my attorney is saying the photos are not required to submit to the NVC
  10. Hi everyone im currently waiting for my visa interview. so I have a question regarding the ib1 visa priority, I heard that the ib1 visa is treated exactly like other immediate family visa priority, such as the cr1 and ir1 the country I’m processing my visa in has a massive backlog in processing cr1 and ir1 visa, currently at 8 month delay to get the cr1/ir1 visa. But they almost have no one getting the ib1 visa (based on vawa) very rare so im wondering, does this mean I might get an earlier visa interview than the ir1/cr1 visa applicants since the they are different types within the family category, or will it be the exact same priority and wait as the ir1/cr1. There are a huge amount of people processing the cr1/ir1 at this embassy but no one at all processing ib1. anyone have an idea if it will be different in the queue since they are 2 different types of visa within the family category, or will they be the same because they still consider them all as immediate family category?
  11. Hi fam My attorney mailed the documents package to NVC today, how do I know if they received it? Will they send me an email as a receipt notice?
  12. Do you guys know of anyone else doing vawa through consular processing other than me and @natalysmile ? Ib1 visa
  13. Thank you for the response Sandra, Many people I know got their cases expedite through the NVC under the uscis expedite criteria and got their interview letter within weeks from the approved expedite. The embassies can accept expedites as well. My question is will the expedite based on extreme abuse by family members abroad complicates the visa process and the interview questions since my original petition is based on spousal abuse in the USA?
  14. Hey fam I’ve been in the process of doing consular processing to get the immigrant visa through vawa abroad. As some of you know, I’ve been dealing with hardship and abuse in my home country since I returned. to be honest, I have been dealing with too much and it’s not safe for me in so many ways. I’m fearing for my life that I can’t sleep or eat anymore. I’ve been in a constant survival mode that is affecting my health and well being. In your honest opinion, do you guys think I should expedite my visa process based on this, because I wanna move back somewhere safe in the states away from usc spouse city and my relatives abroad, Or is it going to complicate my visa process since my case is also based on abuse? Do you guys think it’s a good idea to share these details and evidence with the NVC to expedite and safe my life, or is it just gonna complicate the process and add unnecessary questions and delays to my visa interview? I’m honestly so tired of my life at this point, I’m tired of fighting to stay safe, and tired of this existence and living like this for so long, I’m giving up, so this is my last hope. Do I keep fighting for my life and wait for the normal progress of this visa hoping I’ll stay safe and alive till I get the visa with no complications, or do I expedite and share information with the NVC with no guarantees of a certain outcome and maybe complicate this process further? I saw that the humanitarian expedite covers the hardship of the beneficiary or if their well being is at risk. And I definitely wouldn’t try to expedite if my life isn’t in danger. the attorney doesn’t wanna do the expedite, so it doesn’t add more complications or questions to the visa process and I get her point, but she also doesn’t care about my well being because it doesn’t affect her life. So I don’t know if her opinion only serves her because she’s lazy and doesn’t want the workload because she has expressed that before (I don’t fully trust the attorneys opinions after it caused me all this mess in the first place) Your advise is appreciated
  15. Believe me, going through this experience I’ve chatted with many people that chose to do it abroad or thinking about doing it. We have a group for those doing it abroad and IR-k1 wait is nothing. They definitely get their papers moving within weeks and few months while vawa and work visa take years. Most vawa applicants who filed 824 to move their cases to the NVC waited 2 years for an approval transfer, while IR CR got their approvals transferred within weeks or 4 months max in the same processing center. The welcome letter for vawa applicants takes 60+ days to months to receive and sometimes more, while IR Cr k1 in the same situation get it on the same day or within 4 days max. and it goes on and on till the end of the process. I’ve waited 16 months for 824 to transfer my approved petition and now 17 months to receive the welcome letter and still counting. Other people I know who are also vawa are waiting over 25 months for 824 to get their approved petition transferred to the NVC. Being in an extremely abusive situation even when you’re away (especially for those still fighting or waiting for divorce) then the pain of being reminded everyday that you can’t move on till this process is over so you can start a decent life and leave the past behind makes this process abroad even harder because you are “stuck” you either choose to abandon the life you have built in the States for years that is being left on pause for the slight chance to come back one day, or just continue to wait in this miserable process, that’s a tough choice. there’s definitely no comparison between the process for IR CR k1 and vawa abroad, IR CR k1 processing wait is a piece of cake. I’m just letting the people who think of doing this either by escaping abuse or for any other circumstance know that it isn’t worth it. And we definitely don’t expect anyone to know or understand the pain except those who are going through it.
  16. Wait what? If you applied for vawa while you’re on an F1 visa that makes you inadmissible for misrepresentation? I was an F1 too and now seeking the immigrant visa abroad through vawa. Can you please explain more?
  17. To anyone who’s thinking of doing their immigration process abroad, do your best to stay and adjust status in the US. Never try consular processing for vawa. it’s the worst experience ever for vawa petitioners abroad. The process for consular processing takes forever for vawa applicants. You will be stuck abroad for years.
