Russia is allowing diplomatic visas to the number matching the russina diplomats in the US, just few hundreds.

Aaaa. This is just information that I was unaware of. My understanding of the expulsion of diplomats is probably just incorrect. I had thought that, for example, one can be expelled because one is suspected of being a spy, or working counter to whatever the visa is, etc. And that someone else can be sent in their place, with correct permissions of course.

It's probably common knowledge, but if you have some sort of link that confirms it, that'd be nice.

I just submitted an inquiry on the public inquiry forum yesterday, so we'll see how that goes. I'd much prefer that route myself. But it just raises a lot of questions as well. (Schengen visas, backlogs, medicals, not to mention the issue about covid vaccines which is a separate issue)

Excuse me if I've come off hostile, I'm just trying to explore avenues and see what other people are thinking.

I think you need to email Poland directly and not even deal with NVC.

I was under the impression that cases which were already forwarded to Moscow, should contact Warsaw, and the cases still waiting at the NVC should inquire with them.

Lawsuits against who?  The government of Russia for severing those diplomatic ties?   There are many hostile countries, or countries with civil unrest, where the US does not have  consular services.

A ban against hiring locals does not seem like it should should shut the embassy down completely. It seems like we are just upset that we've lost cheap labor, and refuse to hire and train Americans to send to work abroad. I know that diplomats have been expelled from Moscow in a ####### for tat sort of move, but I don't recall reading that Moscow is limiting the number of Americans working in the American embassy. Admittedly. I could be completely wrong.  Again, excuse my cynicism.

I am no expert. Not even close. Very very far from it.

    EDIT: typos

It seems most people feel that going the Poland route is better than a lawsuit. Its complicated, and you must get a Schengen visa and spend extra money, but it can be done. Sometimes lawsuits end up not working in your favor anyway, and USCIS will just close the case. I would personally rather gamble and go through Poland than try to sue - the State Dpt blames Russia anyway for the limited number of visas so I'm not sure a lawsuit is viable. Have you tried transferring to Poland?

  5. Hey everyone,

I just signed up here on Visajourney yesterday. Place seems like a pretty legit source for info, or atleast the links that source official information, so here I am.

With all of the recent happenings, Warsaw becoming the de facto embassy for the "homeless" Russians,  does anybody think that this could be grounds for further lawsuits?

I have yet to even hire an immigration attorney, but at this stage, things are becoming so complex. I'm sure I will need to get one in the near future.

I respect and appreciate the men and women who work these jobs at all these government agencies, and I am not in it to hassle anyone, just,  I personally feel this is getting a little bit ridiculous. Some of you have been waiting years and there is still no end in sight. (I am stuck at NVC, NOA2 was the last thing I received, plus a few emails from NVC telling me that covid is causing delays, yada yada, do not take further action at this time.)

It's not something I want to do, but I want to live without my fiancee for another year, even less.
