Hello all - just received an email from Montreal saying that our interview has been scheduled for January 17, 2008 for our CR-1! They decided to abandon our K3 and went the I-130 route instead! Sooooo happy!!!!!! have a great weekend everyone - I know we will : )

Just sending back packet 3 for the I-130 - on the Applicant's Statement is asks if I will be applying "alone", together with my spouse" - my spouse will be attending the interview with me - does this mean I check "together with my spouse". Not sure if they are referring to the acutal application or the interview. Help! thanks in advance!

Hi VJ firends!!

We filed our I-130 last month with the original intention of continuing on with the K3 process, but with the current backlog and receipting delays, we are reconsidering this and thinking the IR-1/CR-1 processing might not be a whole lot longer. We noticed that on the statistics here, the only embassy that shows any interviews for the IR-1/CR-1 interviews is Montreal. If we go K3 our interview will be in Vancouver, which appears to schedule interviews in a very timely manner (a month or two) - it appears interview waits are up to 9 months long for IR-1/CR-1 in Montreal. So...bottom line question...do IR-1/CR-1 interviews happen only in Montreal? or does Vancouver do them too?

As always...thanks for any info you can provide!

We filed our I-130 and K3 - we were on the waiting list for 4 months for the K3 expecting to receive an interview date any day - Montreal decided to stop processing the K3 and went on to process the I-130. Although the I-130 is better, this means that we are now on a new waiting list which frustrates us b/c we spent 4 months waiting for absolutely nothing. Anyways, I hope what happened to us does not happen to you! Good luck!

Good question. I would think they go by case number, so your case should remain in the order it was before. Nonetheless, is MTL answering emails or phones these days?

Did your I-130 got approved. Have you gotten stuff from NVC and been sending it back... Sorry, but once that's done, the Consulate will not proceed with the K-3, they have to go with the CR-1.

Hi - so, we've been waiting for 113 days for our K3 interview in Montreal and nothing - over the past few months we've made several inquiries with Montreal and all reply emails back confirmed that we were on the waiting list and that the interview should be around late Nov., early Dec. Our lawyer contacted Montreal and received a very confusing email back from them saying that they would schedule an interview date once they received further forms back from us in order to process the CR-1!!!! We thought maybe it was a mistake but apparently NOT. We don't understand this b/c we went the K3 route, not the CR-1 route. We were told by NVC that on Nov. 14th, Montreal requested our CR-1 file. We are very upset b/c we suspect that we will now be put on a new waiting list which could take another 5 months. Our lawyer is doing some research and will be contacting them as well. has this happened to anyone? Any help would be appreciate

One can always ask, all they can do is say no!! I do believe the ones that were successful stated they would be working in the van area for an extended amount of time.

Hi - we sent an email to vancouver asking for permission to transfer from mtl to van. but received an email back saying that we would have to have residency there. we sent the email in august so you never know.. you may have luck now. good luck to you!

I've always taken the receipt, a letter from my employer stating i am employed and property tax bills - if you rent, maybe take a rent receipt. they just want to make sure you have ties to canada. Good luck!!! if you go prepared, you'll be just fine! enjoy your trip : )

Not out of Vancouver, but I fly out of Toronto at least once a month and I've never had any major problems. Just the usual questions and i am sometimes asked to show documentation tying me to canada.. like proof of employment, property tax bills and for my immigration paperwork up until now.

Well, nevermind that. it did just come!!!! Turns out the guys that delivers XpressPost is different than the regular mailman.

Great pics! I see we have a lot of cat people here! this is great! We will be taking our 2 cats over the border (that is if we ever get our damn interview date) as well - it's an 8 hour drive to nyc so not too bad. I'm with you kimmbo - i don't trust too many people with my precious babies.
