  1. My husband received his ir1 visa. The problem is his passport is only 3 months validity left. He was in the process of getting a new one but his country’s embassy didn’t have the passport machine so he had to wait until they got a new one.

I know the six month rule applies to tourism but I was wondering if it applied to immigrant visa holders as well.

thanks in advance for you response.

There is no harm in uploading additional quality evidence.  Uploading won't delay an interview which is already scheduled.  My point was that I don't see the value of uploading a bunch of additional photos.

Thanks for your response! It makes sense what you're saying. If photos were required they wouldnt have DQ’d my husband without them.

Well the thing is I hadn't uploaded any pictures onto ceac. Only civil documents and financial documents.

But then I kept hearing how I needed to upload photos onto the website.

  3. I’m not complaining because we started this visa process 2 years ago in October 2021. We were DQ’d in May so I’m excited getting he’s getting an interview appointment.

But I always assumed that we had to personally apply for an expedited request. And I never had a dire reason to request one so I never bothered.

So imagine my surprise when we got an email saying our expedited request was approved. My husbands case went from being at NVC to Doha soon after I received the email.

What would be the reason for NVC expedited a case without request. And how often does this happen?

  4. My husband was DQ’d May 30th. I received an email saying that they would work with the Doha embassy to arrange an interview.

as of July 17th I haven’t heard anything from the NVC or received anything from Doha embassy. My case still says it’s at NVC

Should I send an inquiry to NVC asking them when will my case will be transferred or just wait it out?

That is not accurate for immigration purposes.  They want to see the actual returns or transcripts.

I should clarify. Sending Tax returns along with copy of certified mail receipt is a way of show proof you have filed a tax return. I had to file by mail this year because I needed an ITIN for my husband . I'm not getting my transcript back for a while. Instead of waiting I uploaded my 2022 tax returns and attached a copy of the certified mail receipt. I also had to file my 2021 and 2020 tax reruns by mail. 2021 was an amendment, but 2020 I hadn't filed. So they also had to be sent by mail.

    I was DQ'd last Tuesday.

Did you already get the email and/or CEAC inbox message that says your case is Documentarily Qualified (DQ)?

No. I got a message saying that I didn’t meet the income requirements and to get a joint sponsor. I don’t have anyone who’s willing to be a joint sponsor so I waited until I filed my 2022 tax returns to try again.

  7. Just an update on this. If anyone receives this message, it is not a stock message.

I have to upload the documents now before being DQ’d and not at the time of interview.

I emailed the NVC and today they responded that I needed to upload co- sponsor documents. So one month was wasted. I should have uploaded the documents when I received the message. 😢

  8. I only  have 2 years worth of US based income returns as I only returned to the US 2 years ago. They are saying I don't meet the minimum income requirement and to get a co sponsor.

It says in the message the person doing the interview will make a final decision. Do I add the documents to NVC now or wait until my husband goes to the interview?

  9. I applied back in October ( still no approval yet) for my husband.

However they are currently reviewing applications for that date so I’m hoping for an approval soon.

but I’m worried about whether I’ll be able to pass the financial requirements.

I originally had my dad to be my co sponsor but he unexpectedly passed away.

I don’t have anyone else here in the US who can be my co sponsor.

I had been living overseas for 10+ years. I returned to the US in August and immediately started working soon as I got here. Unfortunately I didn’t make the required 21k amount before the end of 2021.

I have tax returns from the previous years but it’s all my overseas income.

Will my current job and pay stubs be taken into consideration?

Or will I be forced to wait until end of 2022 to submit income tax.
