  1. Although they say if you are employed then only 1 year's w-2 and tax return is enough. I have read cases where they did ask for the past 3 year's papers. It is always a good idea to be prepared with every possibility. Last 2 months or so Paystubs are good enough - you will not need to send older ones.

Remember - Just be prepared and all the best

If anybody has a better suggestion.. Please let me know too :)

  2. Congratulations... your post is really encouraging specially coz I am the kind of person who gets major butterflies before any test/exam/interview.

  3. Just thought of this...

How much money can I carry with me once I get my K1 visa and I move to the US.

Also as an Indian girl, I also have certain amount of gold jewellery, how much jewellery is allowed for me to carry in person. Daniel will be travelling with me so, I am guessing we both should be able to carry more..

Don't worry, everything will turn out just fine and one day pretty soon, I will be sitting with you and your mom in law, sipping a cuppa tea :)

You will not need the SSN for getting married. Can apply for SSN after you get married with your married name.

  5. You think thats crazy!!! I have gone absolutely paranoid... keep checking the papers atleast twice a day. Daniel thinks the 2 of us (u and i) seriously need to stop worrying. He wants to shake Manish's hand too just coz he understands exactly what he might be going through - about to get married to a megaworrier like me :P
  6. We were told by an officer at the USCIS (when they could not find our approved petition at the USCIS and NVC) that it had been sent directly to the Consulate.. 2 months of painful wait followed and they realised it was filed wrongly at the DHS.. It was then sent to NVC and alloted a case number and forwarded to the Consulate :innocent:

The point being - No matter what the letter or the ppl say, It will go to the NVC, takes only a couple of days at the NVC though and is forwarded to the Consulate :)

:thumbs: Congratulations - The longest wait is over for you both!!!

  7. Daniel will be with me during my interview  As far as I know, he will not be allowed to be with me though  Is there any way to let the Consular Officer know for definate that he is outside. I read somewhere that carrying Daniel's passport along with mine is a good way of letting them know that he is with me. Will that :help: ??
  8. I just got to know that my case has bn recvd at the consulate. I called them instead of wait for them to send out my Pkt 3 to save time. Will also go and submit DS-230 today to save more time. It helps to get ur documents ready as soon as u receive the approval notice from USCIS. That way you can follow up on your case than wait for them to tell you.

My advice, start getting the docs ready and then follow up yourself.

All the best. I know its hard being away from him but look at the bright side. Its going to happen soon :)

  9. HD

I live in an apartment in CA too. Your friend can file, it's not a problem.

I am prepaired to have fun poked at me.. I'm stil living with my parents. I plan on having a house, or apartment, ready for Charry and I to move into for when she gets here. Perferably a house.

I think it would b interesting to live near D's parents/family especially coz I m used to a big family as an Indian. Also would b a little more reassuring when D's not here with me. I sometimes think about how I will b all by myself for sometime and that really freaks me out

  10. :):) Welcome to VJ :) Thanks and yes most of us would not have made it through the difficult process without VJ.

Can't really help u with ur questions, but, m sure u will hv them answered here. Wishing u all the best :thumbs:

  11. Approved! :D

I found out this morning that we were approved yesterday. Was late for work so didn't have time to update everyone here. I can't tell you how happy I am and have been riding on the elation all day. Yet this evening, on the way home from work I burst into floods of tears, from relief I think and emotional exhaustion (work had something to do with that tho). I just feel so relieved and happy we're moving forward again. :)

    Yeeeeeaaaaahhhh!! Way to go :dance::dance::dance:

  12. Thanks everybody.. Feel a little better.. Was in a state of complete shock.. Guess, its back to the waiting game. Praying for everybody for a speedy union with our loved ones...

    But did you call DOS?

Just got done calling the DOS... hehe.. Feel kinda stupid.. False Alarm!!! The case has been forwarded to New Delhi Consulate today.

I have become such a stress bag  .. What a relief!!!

Thanks to all the VJers for keeping me sane thru it all...

    Yipeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
