Call USCIS. Say “info pass” and request a tier 2 officer call you regarding an issue with your naturalization.

    Mike, thanks for the suggestion.

Surprisingly, i received my new SS card on the mail. Im tempted to go back to the SSA office to ask if the records still dont match with DHS. Im assuming the issue was fixed since i got the new SS card but cant help to think something's till up.

  2. Hi everybody, I went to the social security office to update my status after completing my naturalization process. I waited over a month after the ceremony where i was given the certificate.

To my surprise, the SSA employee told me my date of birth on SS records didnt match what she found once she checked DHS records. Birthday on SSA is right, a different one showed up on DHS. She told me i had to fix this before she could do anything, that there was nothing she could do and that DHS needed to get the date corrected.

This left me speechless, didnt and still dont know what to do. My green cards were always OK and even the brand new certificate of naturalization shows the right date of birth which i think DHS issues.

I also got my American passport and everything went ok with the application, the book and card came with the right date of birth.

Any ideas about what i can do? i dont think there is a customer service line for DHS. Any suggestions are appreciated.

  3. Finally some progress for my case after 15 long months. Interview scheduled yesterday for early July.

I want to say the only reason for my case to moved forward was because back in march, I went to local office (vermont) to get an ADIT stamp. The officer told me he checked my N400 case since it was the reason for the stamp (filed with more than 6 months ahead of GC expiration) and told me i should get interview scheduled within a month or two, he came through with what he said that time, im glad. But, i would probably still be in limbo if i woudnt have had that adit stamp appointment that made them check my case. Day after ADIT stamp, an update showed up on my online account saying my case was actively being reviewed.

I hope all other February 2021 filers that are still waiting get their interviews scheduled soon, good luck.

Correct you don't lose your permanent resident status but you need a valid ID to work (unless of course you are self employed and don't have to drive anywhere)...(valid ID being DL, ID Card), these expire when your GC expires .  I will just leave that there.

My GC expired while I am still waiting for my N400 (it has been 18 months since I filed), I thankfully was able to easily make an infopass at and get an I551 extension stamp for 1 year and renew my DL for a year!

If I were you, I would not wait to file for you N400 but do it sooner than later.  It may take 6-9 months or I've seen up to two years.... But the sooner you get the application in the better.

I hope that helps coming from someone who's GC expires while having my N400 in process.

Infopass is no longer an option to get an extension, right? Only way I see to take care of expiring GC while waiting for N400 is to apply for GC renewal (I-90) which it might take a long time as well while the pandemic is still going on. Im on a catch 22 situation right now as well. Applied for citizenship back in February 2021 and my GC expires in April 2022. Havent heard anything about my process since i got the biometrics reused. Some say submit the I-90, some others say dont bother. Still debating...

  5. Hi everybody, i am another February 2021 N400 filer. I've been following this forum for a while now and it's nice to see a few have already gotten done with the process while i patiently wait along others to get the interview scheduled. My countdown is showing 7 months so far.

Wanted to ask for what the best way to proceed is regarding my expiring green card while i wait for the interview. My GC is set to expire in mid April 2022, im hoping I'll be done with citizenship by then but, it looks like i would need to renew the GC soon to not risk expiration, right?

Through the forums i've seen the infopass option being mentioned or the extension sticker but it looks like these are not options anymore, am i correct? USCIS website only shows filing Form I-90 as the only option. Is this what i need to do? also, im trying to visit home country for a week during the holidays, would leaving the US during the N400 process have negative impact? Thanks all for any input.
