My wife just had her interview today, but the officer didn't give her any information after she left. She had her medical exam in Copenhagen as well about 9 days before her interview, but they didn't mention anything about not receiving it. I was curious, they didn't say what the next steps were, is there any way to track your status? We're not sure if they will email us the results, or if you just wait for the letter to come in the mail with your passport?

After waiting 14 days from my medical exam date I emailed the embassy and they told me that they had received my medical exam results on October 29th (the day after my interview 🤦‍♂️)

and that my visa was approved on November 3rd.

It's now November 4th, and they have yet to ship my visa in the mail.

But for me it took 10 days from my medical appointment in Copenhagen until they received it, and 4 more days for the embassy to process it. And so far 2 days counting for them to post it back to me.

  2. My visa got temporarily denied because they said they hadn't received the results from the medical exam yet.... (over a week after attending the medical exam)

I attended the medical exam in Copenhagen Denmark at the "medical office" 14 days ago now. They said they sent the results to the US Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden 13 days ago.

I attended my K1 visa interview in Stockholm Sweden 7 days ago and everything went smoothly except they didn't have my medical results which was very frustrating.

I tried contacting the medical office in Copenhagen and they have so far refused to give me any information on this letter, no tracking number, no delivery status, they won't even tell me what postal service they used. So I have really no way of knowing if the letter has arrived, or is stuck or is lost...

The Embassy told me at the interview that once they receive the medical exam results they will approve my visa and ship it back to me next day... (they kept my passport there to put the visa in)

Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know how long I should expect to wait for them to receive a letter just 500km away? From Copenhagen to Stockholm?

I'm very confused that the medical office is acting like this is totally normal it's taking this long and refusing to tell me anything, except they did confirm that my medical was all good... (so it's not delayed because of a medical problem)

  3. I'm from Denmark and finally got an appointment at the U.S Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden in late October! (if anyone is interested the Embassy received our package at the end of April, 2021)

However I have one very puzzling question. Since I need to leave my passport at the embassy (so they can add the visa), and they want me to fill out a "Fraktseddel" to ship my passport back to Denmark.

How do I get back to Denmark without my passport??? Do I literally have to take the train from Stockholm and hope there's no border control in Malmö?

Or is there a method of staying in Sweden and getting it in person? Or perhaps have it delivered to a post office in Sweden that I can pick it up at when it's ready? (the checklist specifically says to ship it to your home country though)

Thanks for all the amazing help on here!

  4. Hi I'm applying for a K1 visa.

I'm from Denmark but I previously lived 2 years in Spain.

After I finally got an appointment date with the embassy, I was scrambling to figure out how to get the criminal record from Spain as their government process is a mess and only in Spanish.

I ended up hiring a lawyer to help, and she basically told me the only way to get it in time was to fly to Madrid and go to the ministry of Justice office in person.... So I did that. But Spain being Spain they. refused to provide me the document in person and want to "send" it to my home address in Denmark after about 20 days or so...

The excuse they used to not give it to me was that they had to contact Denmark to get my criminal record from there before they could issue it to me... Which is nonsense cause I'm just trying to get the one from Spain and I have to provide a seperate record from Denmark anyway.

My appointment at the US embassy is in 13 days. So the likelihood that I'll receive the criminal record certificate from Spain in due time is questionable 😢

I'm not sure what to do here... Do I go the appointment with just my danish criminal record? & cross my fingers that maybe the document arrives earlier?

Do I try to reschedule my appointment to be at an even later date after we waited 1.5 years for this? (if so does anyone know where you can actually reschedule it?)

This is so frustrating, I even chose a date that was quite late so I would have 3 full weeks to get my documents in order, with the Spanish certificate being priority but even that's not enough.

What do you do in this case?

Interesting! I’ve heard on the Facebook group people that had their case sent to the embassy in April are just now getting their checklists so I’m not sure that I would bank on it being a quick process unfortunately.

Mine was sent to the Embassy in April and we haven't gotten the checklist or any letter/email from the embassy yet :(

  6. @dmeister3 I have a question if you don't mind.

I'm also from Denmark and applying for a K1 visa, and my application left the NVC on April 27th 2021...

I never received any notification that it arrived at the embassy in Stockholm, much less started on a DS160 form?

You say that your application left the NVC just 3 days before it arrived at the Embassy!? WHAT? What does that look like and how did you hear back from them? Are you already in the process of scheduling an interview?

I've been waiting for months and nothing? I'm so confused.

It would really help if you could tell me your situation. I'm worried my case was misplaced or got lost in the mail or something now...

  7. @JeanneAdil Yeah I saw that in June when it was released.

All that says is that they started processing K-1 Visas on June 2nd. (I'm a K-1 visa applicant), but it gives no clue to timeframes.

What I'm asking for is anyone else around the world is stuck in the same issue, or know if you are supposed to receive a confirmation from the Embassy that they've received your petition?

The only timeframe I've gotten was from the NVC (last contact) which says it could take "the transfer process can take several weeks" (weeks, not months)

If it's so backed up that they haven't even responded after 3 months of waiting. Maybe some one else is on here in the same process which could possibly give a hint to a time frame🤞

  8. Just created an account here, and I'm a bit confused / worried.

We received an email from NVC that they will forward the approved petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Sockholm, Sweden (I'm from Denmark, but it looks like that's the closest Embassy that conducts K1 visa interviews).

That was on April 27th 2021...

Since then we haven't heard anything, not even a confirmation the the Embassy has received our petition.

From what we read online about the process this would usually take days or a few weeks, but it has been 3 months now.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so how long did you have to wait to hear back from the Embassy? Will they send you an email that they received it, or will the next contact be a time to setup an appointment for the interview?
