Both I-130 and I-485 were updated to "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS" this week, and the I-130 was approved a day later. The I-485 is still being reviewed, but I am hopeful that the interview gets waived as I've heard that's happening for some people. In either case we still need to get the I-693 done since we did not submit that with the initial application. Hoping that other August people are hearing back or will hear back soon.

Seems hopeful if the i-130 went through so quickly after the status change. Crossing my fingers things continue moving for you! We also have to do the medical. Any idea what field office is process your paperwork?

  2. Glad you for the EAD at least! We are still waiting for my husband's. He did get his AP though, luckily. We actually just applied for round two of AP because it expires in Novenber.

We're past normal processing timelines on everything else, but the system keeps moving the goal post when it comes to when we can ask for clarification. 🙄 I swear we could handle anything, but the complete lack of communication and transparency is the worst! I just tell myself we should see movement by January...? I hope?

  3. Officially a year since we filed our i130 & i485 concurrently- still no movement since biometrics in September and receiving advanced parole in November. We are reapplying for advanced parole next week, which I wish we'd done sooner at this rate. Now trying to figure out the best way to go about getting paperwork started for my stepson. We originally wanted to just get him a tourist visa to be able to visit, but appointments for tourist visas in Mexico City are still a year out- our appointment is August 2023. With that kind of wait, guess we might as well get his i130 started?

We've found some kind of balance in this crazy holding pattern, but it sucks sometimes. I do worry that the frequent trips back to Mexico to see my stepson will hurt our application during the interview, but what can we do when immigration is overburdened, overwhelmed, and dragging its ###?

I am super grateful for the fact that we can manage as well as we do on a single salary and that my stepson is a freaking rockstar at handling the long-distance parenting. Surely USCIS realizes that their system strains the very families that go through it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyway, how is everyone doing? Updates have been sparse for our cohort.

150 days now for me and still absolutely nothing. My FO is so slow it's not surprising but the fact that there still isn't any movement on my EAD/AP is has seriously killed my mental health over the last few months. And then you see people who only just filed in Nov/Dec get their EAD approved this week lmao... 😐

It is really disheartening. I'm sorry you're struggling. We filed the AP first, thinking that would allow my husband to see his son sooner. We expedited that successfully, but didn't file for the EAD until December, so we've just decided to enroll him in classes because he won't be working for the next decade or so at this rate! I'm in Houston and it's SSSLLLOOOWWW.

I just got a notification on my phone today that my case has been scheduled for an interview! They didn't upload the letter onto the portal so I guess I have to wait for the actual letter to arrive in the mail to find out when, but I am so excited (and nervous!) :) Hoping the interview is before the end of this year.

Yay! I'm so excited for you!! You'll have to keep us updated! :)

We seem to be pretty much exactly a week apart in processing - haven't had any updates either since bios other than receiving the medical courtesy letter last week. Assume your case is an IOE at the NBC also?

We are! I guess the IOE doesn't have as much or a track record as others. I haven't seen much referencing it have you?

Some updates since my last post. Glad to say we're wrapping up August with more good news! :)

August 30, Received letter to open online account.

August 31, On checking online account, discovered that biometrics have been scheduled!

    Looking ahead...

    September 22, Biometrics appointment

    Timeline Update :

    Aug. 6 receipt of i-130, i-131, & i-485.

Sept. 22- Biometrics : Super simple, but I did find it funny that the Houston application center is in a strip mall.

Oct. 8 - RFE for medical exam ; status for i485 reads "application is actively being reviewed" and no movement at all on i131. We may have to put in an expedite request- having some pressing issues pop up in Mexico. 😬

Is it possible that for the concurrent application submission for adjustment of status, Chicago lockbox accepts I-130 but rejects I-485. I got acceptance text for I-130 almost an hour ago but nothing for I-485. Nervous.

Sorry. I'm just now seeing this post. I have no idea how they're shuffling things around, but my lawyer did say that they kind of take everything apart once they get it, so maybe it's possible? Doubtful though. Did you get any update?

  9. Hey all,

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I couldn't find any relevant posts. My husband is currently awaiting his AOS, filed August 6. As you all know, with the delays and such, we're looking at maybe March or April, I'm hearing, before he can go to visit his nine-year-old son in Mexico. We are hoping that that process will go quickly, but if not, it'll be a full year before they can see each other in person. I've been flying back and forth in his stead, but, of course, I'm a poor substitute for dad.

My stepson's mom has custody, and we have a great relationship with her. However, she is not interested in letting him move to the US for at least the next couple of years. My question is, would it be possible for us to get a tourist visa for him in the meantime? Everything I'm reading is saying to apply for an I130, but I don't know that that will help our situation, as we are not looking for him to immigrate anytime soon and do not hold legal custody. The consulate in Mexico City has been a mad house, and we've not been able to get many answers there. Anyone have any guidance or insight that might help us in this situation?

Thanks so much for reading this far! :)

  10. Hey all,

Question regarding Advanced Parole. My husband and I intentionally applied for AP alone in hopes that the process would be shorter and allow him to get back to Mexico to see his son, as that is our current priority. Our case was accepted August 6 and the timeline online says 3-5 months. However, VisaJourney keeps sending me updated estimates saying that our approval is estimated to arrive in April.

Anybody have any experience separating these two? Does it expedite the experience meaningfully? Do we have any hope of getting his AP approved before the end of 2020?

Hey all! I didn't see a thread for August filers yet. Thought I'd start tracking here.

August 5, sent concurrent filing, including I-130, I-485, and I-131.

August 6, Package received at Chicago Lockbox

August 8, Received text message notice of receipt.

I was shocked to receive the initial receipt notice so quickly- and on a Sunday. I guess they're working overtime to get through that backlog?

    Hi August filers

    Here's my timeline..

Aug 11, 2021: Sent out packets with USPS to Chicago Lockbox (concurrent filing I-130, I-485)

Aug 16, 2021: USCIS received packets, text message sent to my husband

    Aug 17, 2021: Checks cashed

Aug 17, 2021: Receipt notices sent to us via mail

Aug 30, 2021: Received letter from USCIS to set up online account

Aug 30, 2021: I saw online that my biometrics appointment is scheduled??? Obviously haven't received letter yet but I'm in shock!!

With that said, I wish everyone the best of luck and a speedy process and hopefully we have some more AOS filers that will join this thread soon!

That's awesome! I got my letter to open the online account yesterday, and after reading your post I rushed to check ours as well. Our biometrics appointment is set for the 22nd of next month! So fast! We still haven't received the letter, but they upload a PDF version in the case history.

I'm surprised this is the only August comment so far.

I just mailed the whole package today with 2-day priority shipping, and it's slated to arrive on Friday. I included I-130/I-130A, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-864 (from me), and I-864 (from joint sponsor).

I've spent countless hours on this package meticulously reviewing, preparing, and organizing, so here's hoping it goes well!

It seems like the AOS from tourist visa is not as common, perhaps?

I was in awe of how tedious the process was. We were lucky in that my mom works in law and was able to help us pour through our file and an immigration attorney she works with offered to go over our case for free- but even still, just the number of hours it took to review, prep, and organize everything was INSANE!

My checks were cashed this morning! Seems like they're moving along quickly - hopefully they'll be as quick to process our paperwork as they were to process our checks!
