Officially a year since we filed our i130 & i485 concurrently- still no movement since biometrics in September and receiving advanced parole in November. We are reapplying for advanced parole next week, which I wish we'd done sooner at this rate. Now trying to figure out the best way to go about getting paperwork started for my stepson. We originally wanted to just get him a tourist visa to be able to visit, but appointments for tourist visas in Mexico City are still a year out- our appointment is August 2023. With that kind of wait, guess we might as well get his i130 started?
We've found some kind of balance in this crazy holding pattern, but it sucks sometimes. I do worry that the frequent trips back to Mexico to see my stepson will hurt our application during the interview, but what can we do when immigration is overburdened, overwhelmed, and dragging its ###?
I am super grateful for the fact that we can manage as well as we do on a single salary and that my stepson is a freaking rockstar at handling the long-distance parenting. Surely USCIS realizes that their system strains the very families that go through it. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway, how is everyone doing? Updates have been sparse for our cohort.
