  1. I'm trying to understand the point of this. I mean, visa processing has its ebbs and flows -- comparing when I went through K-1 three years ago to when IMBRA went through, or the fee increase last summer, well, it's apples and oranges really. And there's no point in comparing fiance to spousal visas, since their times are different for a reason. So why start a thread like this?

I dont think people here are trying to compare. You cant compare cases even if its the same type. For example, some CR1 cases gets approved at USCIS level in just 2 months, some in 7 like in my case. Nobody knows why, its just the way it is.

When it comes to dealing with USCIS and the State department, there are sooo many inconsistencies that every case is literally apples and oranges even if its the same type.

The point is... there's no point here. :-)

Just people having fun, passing the time, waiting to be with their loved ones. There's nothing wrong with that.

  2. PRISM , SMEF-COW Manila and SMEF-COW Cebu are CFO authorized center to conduct seminar. Now if u went there with visa on hand u can have your sticker after paying registration @ CFO office but if u had ur seminar in advance without ur visa then u have to go back to have CFO sticker attach in your passport/visa as per requirement during departure of filipino overseas.

Hello. I'm actually a little bit confuse so I hope someone knows the answer to this.

Out of all the offices in Manila listed on CFO's website, which office(s) can you get your passport stamped?

    1. PRISM
    2. SMEF-COW or
    3. CFO (Citigold)
Also, I know that you can take your seminar at PRISM or SMEF-COW. Can you also take the seminar at the main CFO office?

We would like to go to one place where we can take seminar and get stamped at the same time.

  6. Hello everyone! My fiance and I have a plan to get married on October 19 of this year. My fiance is an american and he's living in California. I'm here in Cambodia for my work but we'll get married in the Philippines in my homeland. Please help me what documents he gonna bring since he's divorce. My friend told me that my fiance needs to bring his certificate of divorce when he goes to Philippines. And when he's in the Philippines, he will apply for his certificate of capacity to marry in US Embassy in Philippines...is this right? What else we gonna do for our paper works? And another thing, after our wedding what's next step we gonna do for my visa. Please do help us, since we're new with this. It's highly appreciated if you gonna help us..Thanks in advance. God bless you all! Please keep posted.

Whoa! You got a lot of questions.

If you are going to get married in the Philippines, you are going the what they call CR1/IR1 route.

I suggest going to the following URL and get familiarized with the process.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1

But basically yeah, he will need his divorce decree and he will need to get a certificate of legal capacity to marry from the US embassy.

Also, read up on appropriate forums regarding the K3 and K1 procedure. You might find that these type of visas might be just what you need or want. They are generally a lot faster than CR1 visas

CR1/IR1 is the best visa out there for spouse of a USC. You will be an immigrant as soon as you step foot on US soil. You will have SSN without restriction and green card right away. You will not need to adjust status and you wont need EAD. However this type of visa generally takes a lot longer to process.

Look at my timeline as an example. We filed our I-130 petition over a year ago and we still do not have our visa in hand. It tok us 7 months just to wait for NOA2 approval. Then another three months at the NVC. Three months at NVC level for CR1 visas is considered lightning fast. Compare that to K1 or K3 where it stays at the NVC level for normally only a couple of weeks. Just some things you need to be aware of.

    Good luck!!!

  7. My wife and I tried to apply for a California state ID in the Los Angeles DMV office. I was told that she isnt allowed to get a State ID until we have an extention of her I-94 or she gets the EAD. Is this true?

My understanding is that a K-1 visa is voided as soon as you enter POE. Basically your K1 visa had been replaced by your I-94. So yes, this is true. I dont agree with the EAD however, I think you can either adjust your status (AOS) or have your I-94 extended. EAD is for employment authorization and have nothing to do with state IDs.

  8. I GOT MY VISA YESTERDAY!!! ....mmmmmmmm sssssoooooooooooo hhhhaaaaaappppppyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all those who kept on praying and helped in keeping the long wait bearable! Hope everyone gets their visas soonest!!!! :D

    Congrats!!!

  9. I love this thread. We all went from waiting for approval, to waiting for medical, to waiting for interview, to waiting for visa, and now.... WAITING for our flights. LOL.

Thanks Shape! btw, NoelandTintin's destination is Palm Springs, CA.

  10. Thanks to everybody! Getting closer to hug my fiance once again! Thank you to all who greeted! I just wonder how can i track my visa? I hope it will arrive soon.. GOD IS REALLY GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!

    vida

go to http://www.delbros.com. On the upper right hand corner, enter your case number plus 01.

The only caveat is that this site times out a lot. if it times out, you can also text delbros for the status of your visa. Good luck sa atin.

  11. Hi Shape,

Please include us. we didnt get white slip but maybe our data can help someone figure out all this doc verification mess.

Thanks and congrats on your recent visa news.

    NoelandTintin..................June 4 approved..........May 13...................................................waiting

  12. For the I-130 all your brother needs to submit to prove that he is married is the marriage license/certificate (the one that you get from the county where the marriage is registered). If he's been married before, then he will need to send a copy of the divorce decree.

eau_xplain is right. Besides marriage certificate, all others are really optional. If you have them, then great.

The I-130 instruction will tell you everything your brother needs to submit.

  13. Congrast Vida!! Your story sounds so much like my wife's interview. My wife said her pre-screener was nice and also her consul was nice. My wife said her consul was in a good mood too. smiling and all, he looked at a few of our photos, asked her four simple questions and said, "well... evrything looks good." :-)

My wife was also dressed to the occasion. Like she was going for a job interview, very professional looking, and she thinks it helped.

I checked Delbros tracking system and it says that my wife's visa is already out for delivery. So check it for your status ok?

    Congrats again!!!!

  14. Personal opinions are always tough to give because someone will always disagree with you. But Im ok with that. Besides, you asked for filipino thoughts. :-)

I am a filipino, born and raised in the Philippines but I moved to New York City when I was 18 and I am 40 years old now. I have been here in the states for a while and dated/co-habitated with American women ever since. Because of my situation (or experience) I completely understand your dillema and if I were you I wont move back with your parents.

But I am afraid this is just one of those "cultural differences" that will be hard for your filipino husband to understand initially. Filipinos in general have such close family ties that its not easy for us to understand why certain things like moving back with your folks is so hard.

In all my years here in the US, I wasnt able to figure out how to make American women really understand our culture (or me). In fairness, I also wasnt able to figure out American women. So I gave up and looked for a filipina and settled down with a filipina in the end. he he. Who knows.. maybe I just really did not fall in love with an American.

But the point is... there are many, many cultural differences between filipinos and Americans. And I think it is easier for an American man/filipina woman couple to adjust than vice versa. I wish I know how you could make him understand you but you're gonna have to try. Your husband does not have a clue how unhappy this would make you. Money is just money. Your mental/emotional health is more important. Not to mention how this would affect your marriage.

Just my .02. And good luck!
