  1. hi AJ.. We are just observing.. There were some who pretends to be newbie but to our surprise, eventually they knew lots of things about particular people in VJ..

One could browse this site and forums for years and not make an account. Then one day decide to create one and become a newbie but familiar with a lot of members.

What's your point? Why dont you just stop making assumptions and go straight down to the point?

It has been reported to the Admin as what the girls said..

I guess I must have missed something the last few days coz I still dont get it.

  3. Here's the million dollar question: what do we do now? My wife will be here in about 10 days with her CR-1 visa. We'll get her Social Security Number and a job as a nurse at the hospital. I know in 90 days we do an adjustment of status??? Is there another interview in the states? Medical exam? Where can I go on this site to see all the steps we need to take to finish everything here.

    Thanks!

There's no need to adjust status for CR1 cases. AOS are for K visas.

Your wife will probably receive her green card by mail in 2 to 3 weeks. Also, if you checked yes on your application, your wife will probably receive her SS card too by mail in about 2 to 3 weeks.

  4. wow info overload..

this will definitely help other VJ members too..

    thanks soooooo much..

LOL! glad you've seen the light. Now you can share your wisdom to future members. he he

Just for future reference for everybody I guess...

    Here's a link from the DHS. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/EIB108.pdf

It is a memo from DHS to employers on what documents to look for when hiring prospective employees. Basically, it says that if you can't show any of the following, you must have EAD or un-expired I-94

    • US passport (unexpired or expired)

    • US birth certificate

    • Permanent Resident Card (Resident Alien Card, Form I-551, and/or Alien Registration Receipt Card) also known as “Green Card”

    • Unrestricted Social Security Card

  5. any other peeps who wants to share insights???

No. Yu and Dan explained it well. As a matter of fact, this topic had ben discussed or/and debated here over and over before.

I know how eager most people are to work right away but it aint gonna change the rules. To put it in a nutshell, the beneficiary isnt really "fully" or "technically", or however you might wanna put it, legal until that beneficiary marries the petitioning USC.

That marriage could be in the Philippines or US, it doesnt really matter. If you marry in the PI then you can work right away as soon as you land here. If you come here as K1, then the first order of business is really/should be.... your relationship to the petitioner and not finding jobs.

For lack of better words... K1s are conditional until you're married to their USC fiances. Only then you can adjust status and apply for "Employment Authorization Document".

  6. why does bombings in mindanao doesn't end up? do the government pay attention of the muslim radicals? or what? how pity civilians and how many have to suffer from this kind of terrorisms? :crying: :crying: :crying: is it a generation to generation problem? booooooooooo

The recent action in Mindanao wasn't just a bombing. It was/is a full on battle with helicopters and gunships. Sad as countryman are killing countryman. MILF shot and chopped up 24 people in one village. Looks like there will be no end to it until GMA gives the muslims the entire island of Mindanao!

    Did you say MILF?

he he. sorry. just trying to put some humor in these senseless actions.

  7. we got just a pink slip how many days should i allow for the visa to arrive trying to book flight now :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

It only took a couple of days for us to get our visa delivered in Gensan. But since its only a couple of days, why not just wait for the visa before booking flights? It will save you a lot of money and some headache if your visa delivery (knock on wood) gets a bit delayed. Besides, some airlines will ask for a copy of your visa before even selling you a ticket.

    Just my .02

  8. Hi guys...

Just how much proof should be presented in providing evidence of our relationship? I've got hundreds of photos, approximately 873 pages of YM chats (legal size paper, back-to-back...and that is just from May 2007 to May 2008), about 300 emails, 4-inch thick stack of letters/cards, the guestbook from our wedding reception as well as the financial details of it, joint bank accounts and credit cards. Oh...and a 128-picture wedding album. :D My husband and I had been debating a bit on this issue, especially with the chats. We need some insight.

    Anyone?

My wife had tons of evidence.... Joint bank account statements, letters/cards, YM chats, tons of photos but all they asked for was a few photos.

While they may ask for more than just a few photos from you, I think bringing everything you've got is a bit much.

Why not just bring a little of everything? Like one email per month, one page chat per month, latest bank account statement, 10 photos from your wedding, and 10 photos from everywhere else.

But its all up to you. Bringing everything really wont hurt your case. Just your back. he he

  9. Depends on the airline you will be using, some airlines do require you to show the credit card used for purchasing the tickets (to protect the card holder they say).. but others like nwa don't require it.

It would be better if you or your fiance could call up the airline office directly and ask them and as others have said, just bring a photocopy or a scanned copy of his credit card and passport for back up.

    Happy trip Fatima.

I agree with dbears. This ALWAYS depends on the airlines. I know PAL for example will look for a copy of your fiance's credit card.

  10. Working at the Retirement Village as Diner Food Server. A nice environment and people are pretty nice. I have competitive pay and full benefits which is really good as a starter. Aside from that since I can't drive yet, its just a mile away from my husband's work and we have the same work time, a big bonus for us both!!!

I agree.. One of the big problems for newbies is driving. Usually, they either dont know how to drive, or needs to get a license, or car, etc... and there's usually no one to drive them around. so if you're schedule is similar to your hubby and you work close to your hubby then its a big bonus.

Fortunately my wife is a nurse so she wont have a problem looking for a job. Our immediate problem right now is transportation. We just recently got her a driving permit and I'm teaching her how to drive while she's studying for her RN license exam. So when she gets her exam and gets a job, then she would also have a driver's license already. But even then we will look for a job that is close to home since she's a "new" driver.

New York City is probably the only place I know in America where transportaion is not a problem and newbies would be able to get around without knowing how to drive or not having a car.

  11. hi!!!, to all my kababayans whose here in the USA, is it hard to get a job here? ilang buwan kayo bago makakuha ng trabaho? is it possible to look and found for a job after one month of staying here in the US? how long do you apply and got a job?

This is a tough one to answer. The answers depends on many factors. For example. where you are (location), what you do (your skill set), and how determined you are to find a job.

If you're a nurse, or pharmacist for example, then you wont have a problem finding a job no matter where you are in the US. You're probably get one as soon as you get your license. I know one hospital here in California alone needs over 100 nurses.

If your a computer analyst, technician, etc, you wont have a problem finding a job in say... San Francisco or New York or any other big cities. But if you live in places like Palm Desert or other remote areas in the US, then tough luck.

If you're willing to take ANY job, then chances are you'll find one anywhere in the US.

  12. Hi every one I met a girl from Davao (who is not a member of VJ) when I had my medical last week. She had her interview today and she got pink slip even without paying doc verification. She asked them if it's okay not to pay it and they said yes. Maybe because she is only 24 y/o. Well I guess the document verification is a case to case basis and maybe it does not apply to persons who are 24 y/o and below or maybe it also depends on the discretion of the CO.

I know a few people too who did not even pay DV and got pink slip only.

  13. A USC petitioning for there unmarried son or daughter will be classified as Family Preference #1 (FP1). Currently for the Phillipines they are processing FP1's as of April 1993. So it is more like 15 years not the 6 as you had thought.

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_4328.html

Wow, that's kinda sad. Of the four countries (China, India, Philippines, and Mexico) that are over-subcribed, Philippines is the smallest country. And yet, baed on the dates that they are currently processing, we out-number both India and China. Those are huge countries. I know the Philippine economy is bad but sometimes, stats like this really reminds me of how bad it really is.

  14. Guys,

Just an observation, but it seems that the majority of those being interviewed for a K1 or K3 Visa are Filipinas.

Aside from me, are there other Filipinos here on VisaJourney going for their medical & interview? In our case, my Fiancee is the U.S. Citizen and am the Filipino:)

Yes, The US embassy in the Philippines is the busiest US embassy in the world and most of what they process are for K1s. Someone posted a number and I "think" in 2007, the manila embassy issued close to 10,000 K1 visas.

  15. Is it just me or have all of you gone thru this phase.............

In the beginning of my relationship I would chat with my Finacee for hours on YAHOO and as of lately I have been running out of things to say and in fact I think i am boring her.

I am starting to miss the OLD SCHOOL way of no TEXT MESSAGING or YAHOO IM, just phone calls once a week and letters that way when we do chat there is alot to talk about.

so tell me all............ Is it just me or have any of you gone thru this phase ?

Its not getting old. Its normal.

I remember when my wife was still in Philippines. We'd go on webcams every minute that we're both home. Most of the time we had nothing to say and we'll both do our own thing. I'd play guitar, play chess online, fold laundry, clean room, etc. And she'd do her own thing too. We didnt have to have something to talk about. Just the fact that we had this "portal" (webcam) between us was enough.

  16. hello VJ members!

i have a question... can i bring dried fish in the US? i am planning to bring some... and also some foods like polvoron, dried squid, chicharon... any idea? i am worried if they will ask me a lot of questions bringing these foods during my entry in the US. tnx! :D

My wife brought in a lot of dried fish and squid and had no t problems at POE. They did not open her bags nor they asked her anything about whats in them.

I've also brough dried fish many times on my checked in baggages with no problem.

I think you'll be fine. Just make sure you pack them really tight so your other stuff wont smell in your luggage.

    HI there,

ako nagdala ako ng daing na pusit you have to pout it ina ziplock, then balot mo pa ng isa pang plastic.. then wrap it with a packaginf tape.

    Ingat po..

  17. WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME PAY THE DV?

we just had our case finished at the NVC yesterday and i must admit, it almost made me cry..lol. i want everything to be smooth all the way until the interview day and hopefully prevent delays thats why im asking about WHEN should i pay the DV.

Most people here will say pay as soon as you can. While this might be true for K1s because their papers gets sent to Manila right away. for CR1 cases its a bit different. Your case might stay at NVC for a while even after case completion.

My advice is to wait until the US embassy receives your case from NVC. Then pay Delbros. There's really no sense in paying it early when "they" have no documents to verify yet. Or worse, they might get confuse if you pay too early.

    Just my 02.

  18. I will be getting married next month in Phill. and filing petition for my wife with married name. However her Phill. passport is in her maiden name, I guess she will have to apply for a new passport. Anyone can help answer what to do?

Yes you could do this. In our case, we just got a new passport and it was no hassle. We just showed our NSO marriage certificate.

  19. hi since i went to iv site and put the mnl case i saw the schedule for interview already does it mean that the usem manila got my case already and enter it to the system? thank you

yes, that is most likely the case. NVC schedules interview for CR1 cases.

Your spouse will get your appointment letter by mail. He will need to send a copy of that letter to you somehow. You will need that letter for your medical at SLEC and your interview at the embassy.

    Goodluck!!

  20. Salamat guys...The NVC is giving us a hard time about my b/c.. They said its not the original copy and now we have to wait for their supervisor to rereview our case again.. We sent them the one that I asked directly from the NSO and i dont understand why they said its just a copy..So, now, while we are waiting for them to finish reviewing "again" my papers, i am getting another copy of my b/c from NSO then take it to Malacanyang (just in case).. Maraming salamat po!!!!!!!

Was your b/c on NSO paper? because that's what I submitted and it was fine.
