2 weeks since I submitted the RFE which was for the missing g-325. I figured it would be a real simple thing to approve once they got it. Everything else was in order (according to the interviewer) and she said that we should be getting the green card within the week. We are going on more than 2 weeks since the g-325 was resubmitted.

I am suddenly getting the dreadful feeling that my AOS application has run into a problem and even a denial.
-
I am.
Nothing yet and I have already responded to a request for more infor almost 2 weeks ago (missing g-325)
-
really....did not know that. must have missed it.
-
what?!?!?!?!!?
why do I need a form I used for the K-1 visa???
-
we had our interview on Oct 22. I thought it was rather successful. I asked if we were approved and the AOS interviewer said in 2 weeks you should get the card. I asked if that meant we were approved, she said "not yet. I have to get these into the computer first"
We are going on our third week.
I have also checked the website but it gives me stale information :
"On January 24, 2008, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our NATIONAL BENEFITS CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
"
we have received numerous other letters of action yet none of them ever appeared on our online case status.
what gives?
You were interviewed in Seattle, weren't you?
I was interviewed in Seattle on 10/17 and received my Welcome Letter 11/03, card 11/08. There is still at least one person who interviewed 10/17 waiting for online update or welcome letter and GC - and they were told at interview they were approved!
Don't panic yet. My online status did not change until 11/03 despite the fact that the Card Production Ordered date was 10/31.
We, and I think everyone interviewing in Seattle lately, were told that it would be about a month before we got the GC. It hasn't been that long for you yet.
You will probably hear something or see your online status change in the next week or so.
I hate the online status thing. It never updates. Not for 11months in my case.
Still waiting but getting anxious

Wow, thanks for the offers, everyone! I'm really touched by your generosity! I'll talk it over with my wife and see what she wants to do.
My wife crammed for the K1 interview (the questions sounded very predictable so it was easy to study) but as soon as my wife stumbled the interviewer began speaking perfect Japanese. I think she could have muddled through otherwise.
Thanks for the link, payxibka.
Blaine74, did they not mind at all that you translated? They made it seem totally acceptable? Did they ask mostly routine "how did you meet" type questions instead of the trip-you-up "what did each of you have for breakfast yesterday" type that they list on the sample questions page?
actually, they didn't ask too many personal type questions. When they did, they asked simple questions like...how did you meet (which I answere for both of us) She asked what her bday was and what my day was (I let my wife answer her part but I translated what the question was) . Then there was the standard questions like "do you plan on carrying out a terrorist attack or are you a gun toting criminal etc"
They didn't seem to care that I was translating. I think as long as someone there can translate it is fine. I don't think that person has to be a 3rd party.

perhaps it depends upon the insurance company/company you work for.
my wife has no ssn or green card either but I have added her as my spouse for insurance

Hi, we have our AOS interview scheduled in a few weeks. My wife is Japanese, and her English isn't very good yet... She can muddle through normal conversations by looking up words in dictionaries, but has trouble in high-pressure situations like interviews.
The letter said that if she didn't speak English fluently, to get a translator. I speak fluent Japanese—can I act as the translator? (Of the questions, mainly, she should be fine answering in English) Do I really need to hire a third-party interpreter? I did a bunch of searches and I've seen conflicting information on this.
This is in Seattle, BTW, which is supposed to be pretty lax?
Any advice would be deeply appreciated!
yes, you should be able to act as translator.
I did for my wife. Although she could understand a few words, for the most part I did the translations. I had my interview in Seattle too.
don't let the lawyers and other suits make you nervous.

Congratulations!!!
congrats!
do they always tell you if you got approved? my aos interviewer didn't say that we were approved. Just that she had to file our paperwork

How did she pass the initial interview for K1 Visa if her english is not really good.. I am just wondering.
at my k1 interview (basically standing in front of a csr behind a glass counter) I translated for my wife. Did the same at my AOS interview. As long as you can speak I don't think there is a problem.

Well, i guess price range would be $20-$30 for transferring the vaccination worksheet to I-693.
What they would be and what they charge are two totally different things. Shop around until you find a CS that's not a total crook and if you can get it done for under $50, that's a relatively good deal.
didn't do the medical exam because we came in on the K-1 visa. Had bloodwork done at my doctors to see what vaccinations were needed. She needed all but 1 (so she had to get 3 more) All covered under our insurance plan (under preventitive care) Took it to a civil surgeon and paid $50 for them to transcribe it.
thats all she wrote

You are very welcome.
You might want to check your online status on a daily basis (no obssession over it either though ). Even if you signed for automatic e-mail when your status is changed, you sometimes never get those.
hasn't told me an update in months. Even as I sat for the AOS interview, it still showed last notice 1/27/08. And that is after Biometrics, EAD approval, etc etc.
-
no, not yet.
another 2 weeks I think
but still, that shouldn't prevent me from expressing gratitude
-
thank you!
that is all

How does one get it? We were not aware that when we filed for a I-131 AP that we could get a SSN too.
So when we get approved for the green card how does one get the SSN? What does my wife become? A legal alien allowed to work? What gives her the eligibility to work or not to work?

Was she indian in her late twenties?
I had the exact same answer as yours.
were you in Seattle today?
My person was a younger asian woman. Chinese to be more specific. She was reeeeeally pleasant
-
Had the interview today. It was a lot less painful than expected. Our interviewer was rather nice and pleasant. Asked a few questions right off the forms and that was that. I asked her if we were approved and she said she would make the decision later. So how do we know if we did or not?

or rather reassurance.
I am the petitioner and we have our interview tomorrow. Problem is, I don't have a birth certificate nor proof of citizenship. I am a US citizen through naturalization but that document was stolen/lost awhile ago. The only proof of US citizenship is my passport. will that suffice?
Passport is the best proof of citizenship you can have. It is even internationally recognized, so yes, you're good to go.
whew!
thanks!
any last minute tips anybody?

One thing I am worried about is that me and my wife had our ceremony abroad, but our marriage was made official in the US by means of pastor and marriage license.
will this be a hinderance? should I leave the part out about having the ceremony abroad?
thnx in advance

That's true, except that some doctors may ask why you need the vaccinations. If you say "immigration" they'll usually say "sorry, insurance doesn't cover that".
not really. If your doctor says that, you need to find a new doctor.
I called and told them that I needed to get immunization shots and I told them it was for immigration and they said before they would give shots out they would need to do a blood test to see if we already have them. If we do need them, it falls under "preventitive care" so there would be no cost. Did you know as US citizens there are vaccinations that we must get as well? Matter in fact I think I am due for the tetanus shot.
Look it up in your insurance coverage.
