Congrats! You'll have the visa soon!

Booking one-way is probably easiest. That's what we did and we had no problems. Plus with AP/EAD taking 8 or 9 months now, it's hard to plan a trip back.

Thank you. I received my visa today. When I get to the US will US custom keep the visa packet or return it to me?

That's fine. You only need to include savings if your income is too low. If you exceed 125% of the poverty line, then just give proof of income and recent tax transcripts and that's enough.

Thank you so much for your advices I had my interview today and was approved. Vo gave me a ticket to come pick up visa next week.

I checked my status on ceac but it says AP so I check on Google they said its normal these days. Pls as a K1-Visa holder do I need to book one way ticket or round trip?

Like arrange them physically for the interview? I had bought (in the US) a portfolio folder with divisions in it, so everything was organized in there. My fiance said he hadn't seen folders like that in Senegal, but any kind of folder with tabs to separate different documents seems like a good idea. But it sounds like the interviews are pretty chill, so anything should be fine, as long as all the papers are there.

How do you go about this, my fiance is filling the i-134 affidavit of support her annual income is way past the minimum requirement for poverty line. In question 4 of the form that says "balance of all my savings and checking accounts in the United States financial institutions ", but currently she don't have any savings because there're lot of expenses on her neck so my question is would it be a wrong move if she put $0?

Do I need to translate my Senegalese police clearance certificate to English?

Yes to arrange them physically. OK I will look for such folder. During the interview should you show documents to support your answers or you wait until the vo request for it?

And if you got a letter as an attachment to that email with instructions, you should let @Greenbaum know. They collect these P3 letters from different countries to help people prepare. I didn't get a letter - just a link to the website I shared earlier in this thread, but if Dakar is doing letters now, it would be cool to have it on the forum.

Is there anyone else still waiting for the Embassy to open available appointment. From one wait to another this is really frustrating

    Hard to say during covid...

For us (pre-covid), once I had the DSL confirmation that the case had arrived at the consulate, I emailed them with the case number and they sent the instructions by email the next day.

My fiancé's received this email from the embassy in Dakar today, attached with the email is the affidavit of support form to fill, and instructions on how to pay the visa fee, medicals, and schedule for interview. I guess this is the embassy letter I've been waiting for

We are pleased to inform that we have received your I-129F petition. Please find attached instructions about what to do to prepare for the interview.

Additionally, please see the following information regarding the Embassy's operating status and restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic: https://sn.usembassy.gov/visas/.

The main Dakar thread is here:

Wait times from DQ to interview have typically been a bit over a year.

I have completed the ds 160 I called the embassy today they're saying I should wait till I receive an email from the embassy with instructions to pay and schedule an interview. I don't know how long it will take to receive the email from the embassy, im i in for another marathon wait

No problem! There aren't as many people going through Senegal, and not many of them on this site are K1s so it's hard to find out how to do things. Plus if you find people's posts from years back, the process has changed since then. One semi-benefit of COVID is that my fiance did all the pre-interview stuff before his interview got cancelled, then had to do it over again once the embassy reopened, so we got some extra experience that way. 😂

Best of luck, and feel free to ask here or in the big Dakar thread in the Sub-Saharan Africa forum for help.

Random note: I'm jealous you live in Queens. I left Brooklyn in 2018 and I miss it horribly.

I'm trying to fill in the form ds 160 but after i save my application and try to retrieve it, it's not working keep saying first 5 letters and birth year not correct 🤦🤦🤦, have tried over and over again but still no way. I don't know what else to do bcos my details are correct

Yes thanks if I have any questions i will ask. I created my account on the site under non immigrants visa NIV but found out K1-Visa is not on the visa class, they say to call or email if my visa class is not on the list.

For a K1 there is nothing to upload. You fill out the DS160 form on the site I linked above before you can schedule an interview.

You bring the required documents along with the i-134 from the US citizen for financial support with you to the interview, where they will look at them during/after the interview.

The fees must be paid in person at an EcoBank branch, along with a print-out of the receipt that you'll get from the interview-scheduling site. There is at least one money transfer app (Xoom) which allows pick-up at EcoBank, if you're not comfortable carrying that much cash around.

Also, it helps others on the site give you advice if you fill out your timeline. That also helps others know when they might expect their own approval to come.

Thank you so much. This is my first time applying and Senegal processing is kinda different. Tomorrow i will file in the ds 160 and pay the fee. I will fill the timeline, thanks again.
