I just got a text message saying my wife's status has been updated and to check the case online. It shows the last update was Dec 2011 when they mailed her 10 year green card. Not sure what's going on.

1-2 weeks seems the norm.

Now what do i need to be prepare for? What kind of questions are they asking? Has anyone here gone through this interview to remove ur conditional status? Please help

We were random picked for an interview at the local office. The interview was extremely basic. Just confirmed we are who we said we were on the forms, asked us some basic questions about some of the information we submitted. Asked us if we had any additional information, so we provided a lease renewal and some other paperwork which was done after we filed for the ROC.

So we got my wife's green card today. If there's anyone on here still who has received their green card, I have a question. Is the photo on your Greencard worthless? The one on my wife's card is so dark, its mostly just a black outline of her head. There's no way to positively identify her by looking at the photo.

Received notice of card production ordered 12/16 via email and text message. So it looks like my paperwork finally made it back to the national service center from the local office.

[sarcasm]Look, its quite simple. The USPS never loses, misdelivers, or damages mail. So clearly the fault therefore must lie with you.[/sarcasm]

Went in this morning for my infopass appointment. There was one person working there, and they opened late. Any way, they would only give me wife a 60 day stamp on her passport since she had been already been approved. They confirmed my wife had been approved, but the approval paperwork had not yet been sent to the national office, and that it might take up to 6 months to get an actual greencard.

They warned that if she travels overseas she needs to be back before the stamp expires. If she's overseas when it expires, she'd need to stay out of the country until the green card is issued, and then we could have it mailed to her to return. However she warned green cards tend to get lost/stolen when shipped overseas.

So that sucks. We have to wait up to 6 months for the local office to get around to sending the paperwork back to the national office, and then for them to process it, yet they'll only give her a 60 day stamp.

I'd bring the photos. There was no mention of it in our notice, but since its in your notice I would do it. I remember vaguely when I was researching before our interview coming across someone who was told that the photos from biometrics for some reason weren't useable, so had them bring in "passport photos" to their ROC interview. You should be able to get them done just about anywhere for $10 or less.

My paper work was submitted on March 14th 2011 and it still says received status. Its been 8 months and i still havent heard anything? Can anyone please let me know if this is normal? I am starting to get concerned

You need to provide more detail. Did they send you your NOA1? Did you already do biometrics? If the answer to both is yes and you filed with the VSC, then I'd say give it another month.

Hello. I just today received a letter from the local office letting us know that my wife's removal of conditions has been approved. The weird part that I have a question about is that it says "Your new card should be mailed to your address within 3 to 6 months."

That seems odd to me. From what I've seen, they normally tell you to expect your green card within 30 days. There were also a couple typos in the letter, which seems strange for what should be a form letter.

So, should I be worried about the 3-6 months part?

Well, mostly good news! We got our letter in the mail from the local office saying we had been approved! Coincidentally the approval is dated same day we made the infopass appointment for follow up. Hmmmmmmmm.

There is however something weird about the letter. It says we can expect our green card in 3-6 months. Has anyone seen this before? I don't think I've ever seen a letter saying it would be at least 3 months and up to 6 month after approval before getting the new green card. Seems odd.

Hello. In the end of August we went in for our interview to remove my wife's conditions. The officer there told us that he had no issues with our case and would recommend us to be approved. He said we had been "randomly" chosen for a quality review, so the case would need to be reviewed by his supervisor which would take no longer than 2 weeks and that we would have our green card in-hand within 4 weeks.

We're now coming up on the 90 day mark, and still no letters from USCIS. The paperwork they gave us at the time said that we should make an infopass appointment if 90 days has passed with no further communication.

So I'm going through the system, and I'm not finding any options which match what we need. Any advice which to chose?

I chose "You need Service on a case that has already been filed", and am presented with these options:

1. Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.
   
2. Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.
   
3. EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.
   
4. Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.
   

I don't have an order from an immigration court. I have not received a notice to go to the local office. I don't have an I-765 pending. Case Service follow up sounds right, however I have not contacted NCSC and don't have a service request number I can provide.

Have an infopass scheduled for the 21st now. Hope they'll give her the stamp she needs to travel and be able to look into her case and find out why its taking so long. The 21st will be 90 days from when we did the interview.

So we went to the Infopass appointment this morning to both get a passport stamp for travel and ask again why the green card hasn't arrived in +60 days. Lady says that as far as she can tell, and she says she doesn't know why, the approval was actually just one week ago, Oct 21, not August 19 like it said in the letter they sent us a month ago. But she says the paperwork is now on its way to get the green card. I've heard that before. So we got the passport stamp. They won't let you keep the temporary green card if you get the passport stamp, so we had to surrender the GC. The passport stamp is good for one year and indicates temporary permanent residence status as well as work authorization.

It seems like once it gets sent to the local office, everything gets monkeyed up. The website doesn't update, in your case you get phantom letters. Be sure to post when you do get your GC in the mail. When you made your info-pass appointment, which option did you choose? I didn't see one for getting the stamp.

Officially 90 days is up for us on Monday the 21st. However, the Infopass will let me set an appointment for Thursday the 17th. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and schedule that, or keep checking until it will let me make an appointment after the 21st.

I've got the name of the immigration officer who told us 4 weeks; wish I could look up his email or extension and ask him what's going on. He was so nice, and so insistent that we wouldn't need to worry about the 90 days timeline on the official paperwork and that for sure it would be no more than 4 weeks before we had card in-hand.

Now past 60 days since the interview where I was promised my wife would have her card within 4 weeks. Still no official letter of approval or any official communications. However the paperwork they gave us at the interview says to wait 90 days before following up.

Just a quick update, still nothing official and its been 4 weeks since the interview. We were told at the end of the interview that it would be officially entered into the system within 2 weeks, and the officer was 100% sure we would have our green card in-hand within 4 weeks.

We had a ROC interview on August 18 and he approved it but said the card would take 2-3 weeks to arrive. Today I got a letter dated August 19, but postmarked Sept 15 noting the approval. Haven't got the new GC yet. Not sure why they sat on the letter for one month. Hopefully the GC will show up some day.

When you check your case on the USCIS website, does it show your status as approved? If so, what date does it show?

Had our ROC interview yesterday. The interview was really tame, just a lot of verifying information on the forms we'd submitted and showing them originals of things like our Costco membership and bank statements.

At the end, the officer told us that he had approved us, but because we had been chosen at random for a "quality check" he couldn't officially enter it into the system until our case had been reviewed by his supervisor. So it would take another 2 weeks for the case to be reviewed, and then once that was done he'd place the order for green card production. Online status still shows our case is pending review. He gave us a slip of paper that said that we would need to wait 90 days, and if we had not heard anything back, then we could call to check our case. But he assured us that we should have the new green card in the next 4 weeks.

We'll see. The officer we dealt with was nice, seemed good at this job and competent, but I still don't trust the rest of the process and will keep my fingers crossed until the green card arrives.

Well this was weird. My wife got her physical CA Driver's License on Saturday. They're only supposed to issue it through the end of her visa. Which means it should be June of 2012, since her green card expired in June of this year, and we have the 1 year extension letter from having filed ROC. Instead, its valid through the end of 2014.

Don't know how or why that happened, but at least now she's legal to drive and has a valid ID good for the next few years, no matter how long the ROC process takes.

5-10% get called in for "random" interviews. If there's anything odd about your relationship, that will increase the risk. We've been called in for the AOS interview and also for the ROC, despite no RFE requests. I'm pretty sure its due to my wife being 7 years older than I am making them want to take a closer look.

I know someone who got denied and thus returned to his country of origin.

Why'd they get denied? As I understand it, even if the USCIS denies you, it then has to go to an immigration judge, and the legal burden falls upon the USCIS to show that you are in fraudulent relationship or have violated the terms of your visa. So short of getting arrested for a serious crime or starting a blog titled "How I got a fraudulent visa" it seems very unlikely the judge would rule against the immigrant.
