  1. I cancelled online. If you book directly with the airline you can cancel online. If you book from another site/agent you need to call them
  2. I used a return ticket and cancelled the return. They don't ask to see your ticket. As a travel agent as well I can tell you its doable and it's best if you pay a bit extra for a refundable ticket so when you cancel you will get back the unused portion of your ticket.
  3. We ended up having a friend filling as an officiant, getting his minister and state license and getting married in our home, accompanied by our friends and family.
  4. Thank you. He is not a minor child. Hes 20 He was claimed on 2023 financial year only because he was a full time student. He wont be claimed as dependant on financial year 2024
  5. Thank all for your suggestions. We ended up having a friend filling as an officiant, getting his minister and state license and getting married in our home, accompanied by our friends and family. @W199 thank you as well for the suggestion for filling taxes together, saving taxes was not as important to us as doing everything on our pace and wages are not important also since I own two companies and will be self employed anyway.
  6. I am currently completing my I-485 form along with i-864 for my AOS. My husband had his son as a dependant on his taxes (2023 financial year) but will not claim his as a dependant again for 2024 (next year filling) Should we list our household size as two (me and him) or three (if they take into account his most recent tax return)?
  7. That would cost us more to just hire an officiant. Thanks for the info though The last option could work, we already have our marriage license in our county.
  8. I came over on a K1 visa on Dec 1st, with a K1 and I will be out of status on Feb 28th We called our local court on Dec 3rd, there are no available appointments until March! So I will be out of status. We asked the court to notify us of any cancellations, but no luck so far. What alternatives do we have? An officiant that costs $300 or if we get married after 90 days and file i-130 concurrently, that will cost $535 extra.
  9. As I said 2 documents mention the same, Yes As I said 2 docs mention the same SSNAP Printout for Social Security Number Card that has a Ref number and mentions, Lawful Alien Allowed to Work DHS Case number: xxxxx that mentions: Temporary Employment Authorized The second clearly says DHS return values ... Employment Authorized I even went online at the DHS website and I can track the DHS case with result "returned to agency"
  10. I know that part, what i dont know and ask about is that they also gave me a paper that mentions DHS Case number: xxxxx that mentions: Temporary Employment Authorized
  11. A few days ago I applied for Social Security Card ( I came to the US under K1, still not married) The confirmation receipt they gave me states: You can use your Social Security card for work only if you have authorization from the Department of Homeland Security. However, they gave me two more papers: SSNAP Printout for Social Security Number Card that has a Ref number and mentions, Lawful Alien Allowed to Work and they also gave me a paper that mentions DHS Case number: xxxxx that mentions: Temporary Employment Authorized I thought that under the K1 visa you were allowed to work but had to apply for EAD. Has something changed and while the card application goes through the DHS also gives you work authorization or?
  12. We had our interview on October 10th The agent told us that everything looks in order, the process takes about 7 days, congratulations They also kept my passport. Today, 8 days later the status still remains ready. Hasn't changed to refused, denied, approved, issued or anything I emailed the US embassy and they told me: "Based on our records the case is pending for possible adjudication. Once we complete the process, you will be notified. Please do not make any travel arrangements, until you have received your approved visa." Is this a typical process, meaning the "official" approval hasn't gone through yet or is there any possibility our case will be refused? Appreciate any responses.
