  1. Update - My wife just received a status update of "Returned to Agency", so hoping this means that the new SSC gets sent to our house in the next 7-10 days.
  2. So update on this -- just going through the forums, I realized this process is more normal than I originally thought. It looks like a lot of people have to go through 2 or 3 step verification with USCIS/DHS to confirm their documents match so they can get an updated social security card. We are waiting on three weeks now, and they said it should take 1-4 weeks to get a response. I have been checking SAVE every day and I recently sent a message to my local congresswoman to see if her office can do anything. I have seen a few cases on this forum of people waiting longer than 4 weeks, so I really hope it doesn't come to that. My wife is applying for jobs right now and has her green card but her social security card is in her maiden name, so hoping that doesn't interfere with the hiring process. Plus, also delayed on filing taxes since I'm waiting for the social security card update. Fun times!
  3. Just an update -- she wasn't able to take her driver's test. She needs to wait for Social Security to verify her documents, which I can't believe we don't have a better process here since USCIS approved and issued her card like a month ago.
  4. No, but we were expecting everything to be approved there and then have the card mailed a couple weeks later. The clerk said, "Huh, that's weird. Her name isn't showing up in our system," and then proceeded to take copies of our documents and probably email them to USCIS for confirmation. I'll check the SAVE system though. Thanks for the link!
  5. We have her appt set up at the DMV this Friday, so we definitely want to give it a shot.
  6. I was thinking the same thing originally. However, did some research on Michigan.gov and for drivers license documents it states, "Please note: You may be required to correct your information with the Social Security Administration before applying for a license or ID." https://www.michigan.gov/sos/all-services/first-time-license-or-id So I'm afraid that even though we have our marriage license, her green card, and her social security card with her maiden name that she received before we got married, she still might not be able to take her driver's test for the time-being. I think she can still apply for jobs since they just need the SSN, but pretty ridiculous that we have all the supporting documents to show her official identification yet they need this small name change.
  7. Hi everyone, So kind of a weird situation with my wife and her trying to get an updated social security card with my last name on it. We got married in September 2022, applied for I-485, and she received her permanent resident card on February 2. We went into the social security office today with all necessary documents to get her name changed on her social security card from maiden name to my last name. The clerk at the office was going through the normal review routine, and when she went to pull up my wife's name in her system, she said that she couldn't find her name. My wife received her green card from USCIS, we have all the official documentation, but it didn't show up in the SSA system. From here, the clerk copy scanned her green card, marriage license and a couple other documents we brought in. She gave us a document that states, "Before we can issue a Social Security number card, we must verify the document(s) you gave us to show your Alien status with the Federal, State, or local office in the United States that issued the document(s). This may take up to 4 weeks." I asked if this has happened before and she said yes (then why don't they fix the process...), but it's a gut punch to my wife who was ready to take her driver's test this week and begin applying for jobs. Has anyone else ran into this problem before? Hoping it doesn't take a full 4 weeks and I'm not worried since she has an official permanent resident card. Just sucks that it's more waiting and we thought she would basically be all set after receiving the green card to get a job, car, open a bank acct, etc. Never a dull moment with government agencies!
  8. Hi Everyone, so my fiancé checked CEAC this morning and received the "Issued" message. We are approved!
  9. @jibril2xx see the document I shared on page 1 of the thread. That's what it literally states. I'm just sharing what they provided my fiancé.
  10. So an update: I went to CEAC and it currently says "Administrative Processing" as of today, plus they took her passport after the interview and didn't issue any 221g. Hopefully these are all good signs.
  11. No, she said in the DS160 when she applied for her tourist visa back in 2019 that she did not have any relatives, etc. in the U.S. and that she was going to visit NYC as a tourist rather than visit me. She was afraid that she would be denied to come see me when we were first dating if she had said she was seeing her boyfriend given some people try to stay in the country after they are approved on a tourist visa. During the interview she came clean since they asked her about it.
  12. Thank you for the positive vibes. Was expecting a different morning but this process has been stressful the entire time so I’m not surprised we’ve been thrown another curveball
  13. Yeah, they said they will give it back in a week. I have attached the document they provided her after the interview
  14. Ugh. Not what I wanted to hear but it is reality. To add to that, they canceled her tourist visa and said that since she is applying for an immigrant visa (K1), then the tourist visa needs to be canceled.
  15. Hi all, Just need to find out some info since my fiance is panicking a bit after her interview. She is Ukrainian and just finished up her interview in Frankfurt, but they gave her a packet that says "Your Visa is Nearly Approved". What does this exactly mean? She said for the most part that her interview went smoothly but they grilled her on one question about her B1 tourist visa that she received back in 2019. She wanted to come see me but thought she would be denied by border patrol if she said that she was going to see her boyfriend, so she instead lied then and said she was going to New York City. They asked her this exact question during the interview and she told the truth that she was actually seeing me. I was expecting things to go fairly smoothly, but she said she was caught off guard during this question and is super nervous now since they packet doesn't just say "Approved". At the end of the interview they told her that everything looks fine and that she can go now, and provided her this packet. Any advice is very helpful.
  16. Got it. Thanks so much. I was thinking blood tests were a possibility. So she can bring what she has for medical records (translated to English, obviously) and then they can do blood work to check for the rest she may not have paperwork for?
  17. Isn’t there a list though of all the vaccines you are supposed to prove you have for the K1 ahead of your medical appt? I.e. measles, tetanus, polio, etc? Maybe I’m just misunderstanding. She has gotten all of the ones listed and wants to avoid getting a bunch of shots at the same time that she has already had.
  18. Hey guys, so my fiancé and I are in the process of scheduling her interview but we were waiting for her to pick up medical documents she needed to schedule her medical appointment. Her grandma is still in Kyiv and went to her house to grab the documents, then dropped them off at a friend’s house who met her in Barcelona (she’s living in Spain now) to give them to her. She opened up the package and it appears some of her medical documents needed aren’t there and she’s devastated. Has anyone else had any issues retrieving medical documents to show vaccine records amid the war? Wondering if Frankfurt embassy will provide her some leeway if she has some of her vaccine docs since I know they are waiving other things for Ukrainians right now given the situation (police records, etc.). She was planning to schedule her medical appt in Madrid since Ukrainians have options beyond Germany.
  19. @slavaskii All of this is super helpful. Thanks so much!
  20. Did you figure out what to do here yet? I'm filling it out on behalf of the beneficiary. There are two sections, Part 2 17 and Part 3 15 that ask for "Income contribution to the beneficiary annually". For the first one if I'm filling out on behalf of her, would I put the annual amount of income I plan to contribute to her from my own income? And then the same goes for Part 3 #15. They worded parts of this doc awfully to the point no one actually knows what they are asking for. I'm wondering if I should just put my full salary in there for both lol.
  21. Yes, I actually ended up reaching the other phone number that you have listed here this past Wednesday. They checked for me after about 50 minutes on hold but still waiting for my NOA2 to arrive.
  22. Is anyone else having (or had) issues calling NVC? When I try to call their # (603 334-0700) to see if they received our USCIS paperwork, it's always busy on the other end and then just hangs up automatically.
  23. Awesome, great to know! Do you have the email/contact info for the Madrid site?
