He asked if my husband had a packet (to which he said no because it was digital) and what visa he was on (he said spouse). Apparently the guy didn't seem to care much and made jokes lol I was not contacted about my husband they just let him through really easily.

SSN for 4/5 family members -11 -June

    GC status -- fee paid

Hope to get status change in few weeks .

  2. Hi all ,

1 week now ,things start moving slowly

Spoke to few banks to open new account ,chase agree to open without SSN but they need proof of address .

As living with family currently ,what's the quickest way which can help to get proof of address ?

Otherwise have to wait till get SsN post ,I believe that's the first post you will get ,right ?

  3. I was juggling whole day and here is the lesson learned .

As in few categories ,where you fill ds-260  and you tick that my SSN should process  ,then DHS get your details at the port of entry for both green card and SSN card .

System takes 5 working days when DHS send request to SSA to generate SSN .

I spoke to SSA main office ,there is no official waiting time (7 days or 10 days or 4 weeks )  ,advisor just push you back to ensure there shouldn't be 2 request for SSN

So check your DS 260 ,if you requested SSN then you don't need to visit SSA office .wait for 2 weeks for your SSN and 90 days for your card .

  4. In USA ,you need medical insurance incase you need any health support or emergency .

Travel insurance cover only  travel or emergency medical health issue

So on safeside ,you need min one or both from day 1 untill tyou sort out health insurance through your employer or you buy policy through marketplace (you need SSN for that to apply ) .

I heard in few states ,discounted medical insurance available for new immigrants (where no waiting period ) as you classes as low income in first year till you submit first tax return .

  5. Hi all ,

We are planning to leave in few weeks ,can we schedule /walk-in SSN appointment on any location or it should be city /state where we want to deliver our SSN and GC ?

I don't  want to  delay as want to open bank acc  and it's required for work as well.

We are staying first week with in-laws and then going to my family in different state where I want to deliver my post .

    Appreciate quick answer .

There aren’t dozens of specific things they have in the status list. So “Ready” is like being in neutral. After the 221(g), going to ready means the refused part has been cleared. So you sit in neutral and wait for the next bit.  Almost everybody goes to AP before Issued. It can mean paper shuffling preparing for the next step or a deeper security review if you were born in or have ties to a country associated with terrorism. Or it can mean you have special scientific or  technical skills that need further checking out. AP can last 2 hours, 2days, 2 months….

It could be so fast you missed it before it changed to Issued. Everybody will be different so it’s a wait and see thing.

You’re not going to benefit from checking every five minutes.  Your challenge for the day is see if you can go 24 hours between checks. 😝 Is there anything else you can spend time on?  Pack, fill out the P85, figure out how you can move money over, visit friends and family….

Haha thanks , it looks little odd that's why put into forum .I check twice a day.but agree should just wait for week .

Yes scientific or  technical skills can be reason .I am hibernating now x😴

  8. Hi all ,

After having 4 weeks of interview  ,status moved from ready(interview) - refused (221g)  to Ready (after 4 weeks of interview) .

Any one move to refused to ready then issue ? And how long it took ?

Wording of 2nd stage ready status very confusing

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date.....

Just letting you know that I sent a visa inquiry to the embassy. It has now been a month since the embassy received my medical. I am beyond frustrated. Why on earth would they schedule people like us for interviews if they are going to take forever issuing the visa which shouldn’t take that long at all.

I also sent email last night

Let see if it make any difference .

Congrats, that's great news! We're a few months behind you, so it's interesting to see the timeframes for SSN etc.

Regarding the EAD did you expedite it as that was really quick?

Just for my understanding ,family immigrant visa category get SSN and green card with similar timeline and same process ?

  12. Everyone case and visa category  is different

Seems fiance  based visa quickly change from refused to issued and family based F2-F4 takes longer .

Better if all put full details

    Date interview

    Date medical received

    Date visa issue

So all can get rough estimate .

They tell same to everyone that ,it will take 1 week . But it's taking longer these days .

    My timeline

    Date medical -23 Feb -wed

    Interview -28-feb -monday

Ist status updated date -1 march -tuesday

    2nd update ----13 march -sunday

    Visa status still refused .

  13. Hi ,

I would say wait patiently .if you served in Afghanistan ,they might get your cleanace from USA Islamabad embessy . If you see normal immigrant AP is Islamabad you will get idea how long you might need to wait .honestly speaking normal AP in Islamabad is touching 12 month .

So sending emails wouldn't help I guess .you will be fine if you have previous UK clearance ,it's just procedural time you have to wait .I would suggest wait patiently for 2 more month .

    Thanks
