  1. Can someone please advise me on which email to send a follow up to with regards to asking Montreal if they received documents? We submitted everything on June 29th but have not heard a single thing or received any reply. Thank you.
  2. Aw yeah, that makes sense. Sorry to hear. That makes sense that your case got transferred after moving. Our passport arrived about two days after our interview. We're not entirely sure as to why my dad was placed under AP, but decided we're going to probably wait it out instead of paying a lawyer.
  3. Oh wow, that's a really long time. Did this all take place at Montreal? How long has it been since you've received DS-5535? Yes, my mom and I got our visas. We are waiting for my dad to get his. He's the one who got placed under administrative processing.
  4. Hey! We did both - updated the I-864, brought a hard copy to the interview and also uploaded to NVC the weekend before the interview. I honestly have no clue if the consular officer looked at it, he just said “the financial information looks sufficient”. I’d say it’s best practice to bring updated copies in case. Best of luck!
  5. Oh wow, that’s pretty quick. Looks like you’re almost there, as I’m assuming they’re ready to issue your visa. What’s your category if you don’t mind me asking? Ours was F3.
  6. Is it normal to not receive any replies after replying to the DS-5535 email with responses? We submitted them in the end of June and have not heard back, but the case has been updated on 07/08. For context: My mom and I got approved, but my dad is still in AP. My mom is the Principal Applicant so we are both planning to go before the visa expires. Hopefully, my dad’s case will be sorted out soon.
  7. Thank you for this, and yes those commas confused me. This makes a lot of sense now. If my dad is required to complete a new medical but my mom and I have already entered the US, he can enter at any time by himself, as long as it is before the visa/medical expires right?
  8. Okay sounds good. It expires in the last week of November. We'll make sure to enter before then. Thanks!
  9. Hi, I'm not sure if I'm confusing this... So my mom (main applicant) and I (derivative child) already got our visas. We haven't activated them yet but plan to activate them together in October. My dad is still waiting for his DS-5535 to be reviewed. My dad and I were selected as "Accompany" on NVC. What happens to my dad if his case gets approved beyond 6 months? Technically, my mom and I would already be in the US, so does my dad automatically become "Follow to Join" in that scenario? Would he be allowed to immigrate alone if my mom is already in the US? By the way, my visa has an annotation on it that says: "Valid only if Acc/FTJ Father, Mother, or Spouse" if that helps. My mom's visa doesn't have that annotation. I'm guessing my dad's visa will also have the same annotation as me. Thanks!
  10. Hi everyone, we're in the F3 category and my mom (main applicant) and I (the derivative child) received our visas in hand. We're planning to officially move in October of this year. However, my dad's visa is still under Administrative Processing (he got the DS-5535 form). My dad and I were selected as "Accompanying" on NVC when we applied. Can I still enter the US with my mom? My passport shows a few annotations: Child Status Protection Act Valid Only If Acc/FTJ Father, Mother, or Spouse. Does this mean I can still enter with my mom in October while my dad waits for his processing to be complete at the Montreal embassy? And what happens to my dad if his processing takes longer than 6 months?
  11. Does anyone know or had experiences with any law firms that can process a WOM? My dad submitted his DS-5535 two days ago so I don't think we're quite ready to file one yet, but would like to know my options in case we do.
  12. My dad submitted his DS-5535 yesterday. Wasn't sure how to format it, but I think it's fine since it's just a normal email response. Now we wait...
  13. Is retrieving an I-94 allowed for the purposes of filling out DS-5535? We made many "one-day" trips across the border, but not every trip had a stamp in our passport.
  14. Okay, we'll do that ASAP, thanks. Just waiting for Montreal to send them. Status shows "Issued" but no tracking yet. I also did a bit of research, and the spouse who was placed under 221(g) has a name that is EXTREMELY similar to someone who committed a sexual assault crime in 2020. The city that the person was charged in is literally 10 minutes away from our own city/house, and the age and name of the person is so similar to that of the spouse. I think it's very possible that the systems flagged the spouse and thought that was him. I remember the interviewing asking all of us, "you live in [City Name, Province Name], right?" Man, this sucks. The email hasn't been sent yet, but I guess it's best to prepare all this stuff ahead of time.
  15. Had my interview yesterday. Principal applicant + derivative approved and issued, but the spouse was told they would need to respond to some questions. Hopefully, this doesn't delay things too much. Category is F3 at Montreal. The principal applicant is thinking about activating the visas with the derivative, but will apply for a 2 year reentry permit while the spouse awaits administrative processing. Is this allowed?
  16. That makes sense, thank you. I'll try my best to look for it, but it was filled out by the petitioner in 2020, and I think it's lost somewhere or was accidentally thrown out. Hopefully, the CO will understand. I still have a the .PDF of the scanned copy that I uploaded to NVC in 2020, so maybe I'll take a copy of that too.
  17. Okay, thank you. When you say "take original", do you mean we should take the original of the new I-864 that we just most recently filled out?
  18. Hi, can anyone please help out regarding this? I would really appreciate it.
  19. Hi, our interview is coming up in a couple weeks and I updated some documents on NVC (tax returns, police certificates, paystubs, and proof of assets). Should I also update the I-864 on NVC as well? We tried looking for the original I-864 but we can't find it anywhere. I think it got misplaced somewhere so we are planning to take a completely new and updated one. Should this be a problem at the Montreal embassy, and is there anything else we can do? Thank you.
