Hi everyone! Wanted to share a quick update. I filed my I751 in Nov 2023. And applied for my citizenship in Nov 2024. I had requested a combo interview and was offered one in March 2025. I had my interview and same-day oath ceremony yesterday -- and ROC and N400 were both approved. Best of luck to those who are waiting! Always happy to answer any questions!

N-400 November 2024 Filers
vilamp replied to dc35's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Hi everyone! Happy update! I had my combo interview early yesterday and it was super quick and pleasant! The officer saw my partner but didn't need him to come in. We went through ids, addresses, and some small talk about my life and then proceeded with the civics questions, reading, and writing tests. When was the Constitution written? Who was the first President? What is the name of the President of the United States now? In what month do we vote for President? Under our Constitution, some powers belong to the states. What is one power of the states? There were 13 original states. Name three. For the reading test, asked to read, "Who was Abraham Lincoln?" For the writing test, asked to write "Abraham Lincoln was the president during the Civil War." I had brought A TON OF updated evidence, but I had also frontloaded my application heavily -- so the officer said she didn't need anything else. We made small talk as she approved everything and then she asked if I wanted a same-day oath. I was elated and happily accepted! Went back at 2 pm and had a beautiful and moving naturalization ceremony. I shared more info about my FO in my profile. Still feels surreal to have reached this milestone. Thank you all for being so helpful, it felt a little less lonely knowing we were all going through it together. Congrats to everyone else who's done already -- and best of luck to those still waiting! -
N-400 based on marriage: lost original certificate!
vilamp replied to vilamp's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Thank you so much for responding! Very reassuring to know that the certified copies will work. We got married in Colorado, where they return the original certificate once it’s been recorded I think. Unless I’m completely misremembering (which could be possible, my brain is mush at this point.😅) But thank you again! Hopefully everything else goes well! -
Hi everyone, I applied for my N400 based on the 3-year rule and have my combo interview this week. Between all the paperwork, I have somehow misplaced our original marriage certificate. We have 5 certified copies that we had ordered at the same time. I have all of those. We’ve been married for nearly 4 and together over 10 years — so we have a ton of evidence otherwise. Feeling like an idiot and am stressed beyond my mind. Will certified copies from the clerk and recorder’s office suffice? Wet ink and stamp too. Is this likely to cause any big issues?

I saw something earlier in this thread, but just realized that was for an overseas military spouse and maybe for a virtual interview. So definitely not applicable to me! -

Hi everyone! I just got my interview notice for a combo interview on April 10! Is it common to get the option to select dates? I didn’t, but not complaining haha. So nervous about getting ready for the test but also so relieved that the day will finally be here! Wishing everyone the best and hope everyone hears back soon!! -
N-400 November 2024 Filers
vilamp replied to dc35's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Hello, another Nov filer here. Applied online on November 13. Case immediately changed to under active review. Biometrics reuse letter issued immediately as well. Now the big wait. 😅 -
Quick positive update and timeline info for those who are also waiting for mail. I finally got my i751 receipt in the mail, almost a week after it showed up on my Informed Delivery. - My package was accepted on Nov 1 at the Elgin Lockbox. - I received a confirmation text on Nov 6. - Check cashed on Nov 7. - Letters generated for myUSCIS account code, biometric reusing and i751 receipt on Nov 8. - USPS Informed delivery notice for all three letters on Nov 13. No tracking number for any of them. Biometric reusing letter + USCIS letter received. - i751 extension letter received on Nov 20. Got the California Service Center. Now the for the long wait.

USPS Lost i-751 receipt
vilamp replied to thymepls's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
@thymepls any updates? What did you end up doing? I’m in a similar circumstance. -
My case was accepted on Nov 1. And I got 3 letters sent to me on Nov 8. The online access code, the reusing of biometric info and the extension letter. I got informed delivery updates for all 3. But my extension letter didn’t come. The other two made it. Was able to log in online to see that they had sent the extension as well. Feeling super stressed out. Hoping it comes in this week. Not sure what to do next. :(

SSA and USCIS Issue: No updates and no timelines
vilamp replied to vilamp's topic in Social Security Numbers
@Verrou I think that’s what I’ll do. I’ll update my address here and then just reapply once I move. Will update this thread with more info for future users when I get an update! -
SSA and USCIS Issue: No updates and no timelines
vilamp replied to vilamp's topic in Social Security Numbers
Thank you both for responding! @Verrou I think that is what I have to do. I am moving in 3 weeks. Would it be better to apply at my new location or here again before I leave (just with a new address)? @Boiler So what I was told about the error is that they had my husband’s birth month and my birthdate in the system as my birthday. They are entirely different than any other number on my birthday. Which is even more odd. 😅 -
SSA and USCIS Issue: No updates and no timelines
vilamp replied to vilamp's topic in Social Security Numbers
Hi Verrou! Thank you for responding. I just checked and the only thing showing on it is one case from April when I had to apply for Unemployment. That one is marked "Returned to Agency" but it seems like the SSA has not even made the request yet. :I Not sure where to go from here. This makes it even more confusing. I still don't understand how my birthday would be wrong in the USCIS system if all my documents are correct and I am able to log into these portals with my accurate birthday. Thank you again! -
Hi everyone! Thank you for reading through! Appreciate any and all thoughts on this! My situation is a little bizarre. I went through the AOS process at the end of my F1 and got my conditional permanent resident card on Dec 2021. I worked as a student on campus, so I already had a restricted SSN and just continued to work with it. I really should've gotten the unrestricted one earlier, but I ended up waiting till THIS May 2023. When I went to the SSA, they told me that they were unable to verify my immigration status because my birthday was wrong in the USCIS system. I cross-checked all my documents and my green card and my birthday was accurate on everything. They told me it must be on the internal system for USCIS, and that they can't verify my status for the unrestricted SSN till USCIS updates it. I asked if I needed to reach out to USCIS, but they said no. They told me that they would be connecting with the local USCIS field office and the process would update my birthday on the USCIS system and get the verification completed at the same time. They told me not to reach out before 6 weeks. They took my old SSN and I currently don't have my SSN card. I reached out after 6 weeks, and they say that they cannot give me a timeline, "Both agencies are busy and understaffed and this could take any amount of time." At the time of writing this, it's been close to 10 weeks since I applied. There's been no word from either agency. I am moving soon and will have to file an I865 and AR-11. I am worried that this will further hinder the process because my case won't be at this field office anymore (I have to apply for my i751 in late Sept). They told me to update my address with them when I move but that was about it. It just feels a little nerve wracking to leave without my SSN in hand. Not sure what to do but wait, and if there is anything I can do from my end. Any thoughts or help is highly appreciated.
