  1. Merhaba everybody!

I have never posted in this forum, but I have read many of your journeys. Like Julia and Onur, my husband and I have been stuck in AP since his K-3 interview back in June. Every day I hope that his number will appear, but each day is met with dissappointment. This is the longest I have gone without seeing Muhammet, and it has been really difficult. I don't think I will be able to go to Turkey until Winter Recess in December. I know Serdar received his visa recently and I wish the best of luck to Doris this week too. Hopefully Julia and I will have good news soon!

  2. Okay guys, enough! Chaingang was just voicing his frustration with the visa process and his experience I believe is grounds for being upset. He has waited a long time and I know he must be faced with the conflict between the love he has towards an American and the love he has for his country. Let's not play the whose country is better game. Being separated from the person you love for such a long period of time causes you to go through all kinds of guilt, resentment, anger, jealousy, and hopelessness. We all know this, so let's be tolerant towards one another and our views please.

  3. I am sorry--but I don't believe there is any rhyme or reason to the U.S. visa process. It is impossible to figure out. I just got off the phone with DOS and these people know absolutely nothing! All they can tell you is your case is still in AP and that the embassy will know before they will if the case is approved or not. While I understand what people say about this being a privilege, it certainly doesn't seem like much of one to me. If I had known what a total red tape nightmare this was going to be, I would have moved to my husband's country and stayed there for the required time to file DCF. When people complain about illegal immigration in the U.S. they only need to look at the complete inefficient process of legal immigration to find the source of the problem. I am really sick of this #######!

  4. Hi Becca and welcome!

Relax! Don't worry--you are with your husband in Turkey and it won't be long with DCF in comparison to us non DCF filers (like me 1 year of waiting and separated from my husband!) You will be looking at a few months and my goodness you have been married for 2 years and living together in Turkey, so why would they question the authenticity of your union? Breathe, and just understand that this is all red tape at its finest! You don't have to worry about USCIS or NVC (which consummed 7 months of my year waiting). Are you in a rush to move to the U.S. right now? Otherwise, all you should be concerned with is waiting.

  5. My husband had his interview this morning in Ankara, Turkey. They interviewed him, told him he has all the necessary paperwork, but they gave him a green paper and said they need to do administrative processing. They told him to check their website and when they see his case number to send his passport back. What the hell is going on? I was so excited that we would finally be together and then this happens. What are they doing?

  6. Okay, so even though I applied for a K-3 visa, my I-130 was sent to NVC and I received the AOS bill in the mail today. My husband already has his interview date set at the embassy for the K-3, although it is still 2 months away. I know the IR-1 would be better for him, but my god, I am so sick of waiting . . . I just want him here already. By the time he gets here it will be our 1st year anniversary. Do you think I should just give up on the IR-1 or put up with a few more months of additional waiting?

  7. I believe there is a company called Globe Cast which has a Turkish satellite line up. I also looked this up on the Internet and found a company here is Miami that does broadcast Turkish shows, I unfortunately do not have an apartment facing south so I can't get a dish.

  8. Elbereth,

I called my Senator's local office which deals with immigration issues and they told me they would put an expedite request out for me. 2 days later I got approved. I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but hey, the more people pulling for you the better, no? I say, have your husband contact everyone and anyone until you find some sympathetic soul who can get the job done.

  9. I received both NOA2s for my I-130 and K-3 a couple of days ago and both state the same thing, that they have been approved and sent to the NVC. I am curious if this is something that recent approvals are noticing on their NOA2s. Are both petitions being sent to the NVC and if so why? The two petitions were paired together when I mailed in my K-3 and were approved on the same day. Now both are off to the NVC?

  10. Julia,

Your fiance will need to complete his military service to keep his Turkish citizenship. He will either need to pay a fee for someone else to complete his military service for him (Tarkan's law) or he will have to grin and bare it. If he has a degree the service is not as long (9 months) as the regular citizens (15 months) who did not attend university. He should know all about this since every Turkish guy completes the military and it is a bit of a national duty and pride. Everyone tries to avoid it though :) It is not a concern to the U.S. whether he completed his military or not. They just ask about weapons training and if you know how to make bombs.
