  1. Speaking of absolute minimum, I thought I'd share what we did:

My husband & I had started his application, then finished when we had the $ to send in & somehow we didn't look through the whole guide woops! I realized we didn't send in any supporting docs & yesterday thought I'd check his status for the interview info hopefully - RFE 3/30 (never received) He received his BOA 3/31/10 letter and did his fingerprints 4/20 so I wasn't really worried about it...

Now this evenining in the mail, we just got a letter that sounds like it's the standard one, saying he should bring everything with him to the interview & DO NOT mail it. I wonder if it really mattered if we sent it in the 1st place & maybe not having it helped someone review his app a bit quicker? I'll knock on wood since it's USCIS, but our app was received 3/15 & 1st NOA was 3/19... guess this yellow letter gave me some hope back. :)

Here's hoping everyone a speedy way through this last one YEAH!

  2. Thanks for adding us back! Sorry, I haven't been around - we've been busy relocating and then moving again... hopefully we'll get the card at our new address (the online change of address for pending cases didn't work the 1st time).

We used to be on the Texas 'Loser' List...

I didn't add to this one since I didn't want to mess up the format, but I thought I'd update you all on our status:

    Card Production Ordered (YEAH!): 4/15/08

    Last Touch: 2/25/08

    Transferred to VSC: 2/13/08

    Biometrics: 4/19/07

    NOA1 Date: 3/14/07

Congratulations! And yes you were on the list -- we (ok, "I") bumped you and a couple of others off when you didn't check in after getting the two transfer and received notices in February and a members check revealed you hadn't been around in a few months. Consider yourself Loser® status restored!

  3. i think you should change your address even if it is just a temporary change....

you can file the AR-11 online and it changes your address on most pending cases...

    online change of Address

how do I change my address

As always, thanks for the helpful advice and info. It's necessary to change address for the affidavit of support too right?

What do you think if we have our mail forwarded/held, find a new place right away, return to meet the movers and then change addresses in no longer than 2-3 weeks? Has anyone heard of the card/notices being sent to the previous address even though it had been updated? I'd be concerned if there was a chance that ours would go to the hotel, especially since we'd still be paying rent at the address they have?

    ....TSC :crying:

  4. This is my theory: TSC was assigned to work on processing US passports. I think TSC stopped processing applications around the same time there was a passport processing delay. That issue was resolved not by magic, but by assigning new resources to it. i751 is propably the most redundant form out there because i400 comes right after it.

That seems as rational an explanation as any. You have to wonder whey they just didn't make residency conditional for three years instead of two, with the option to either just remove conditions or naturalize after three years.

I guess more money for INS...

yes, probably a money issue - they milk anyone that's tangible....

Anyway, there is a good number of people who do not plan to naturalize. I for one will only naturalize if I can become a dual citizen, as this is rather a vague issue (as I have to apply for it with the German authorities with a good chance of getting denied), I might not even naturalize come next spring....

That is the only way I would become naturalized as well (and Jerry agrees with me on this).

Can someone refresh my memory and tell me (and the rest of us in this thread) when one needs to apply to renew the extension letter if it comes to that point for some of us?

I would like to know that also, my husbands extension letter will expire in a few months totally a year of waiting!!?? How do you extend the extension letter?? Thanks!!

Ditto - how & when to extend the extension letter - anyone?

  5. I was hoping this wouldn't happen until after our case was processed, but of course (TSC  )....

Anyway, my company just told me that they are relocating me by Dec. 1st and they are offering us temporary living while we hunt for a new place. Any suggestions on what to do in this situation? Do we notify USCIS with a change of address to the hotel we'll be at, a P.O. box, or wait till we've actually relocated to our permanent address? I'm leaning towards waiting since I don't want to give them a reason to scrutinize our case anymore. I'd really appreciate any advice! Thank you!

  6. I was also going to suggest they made an error on the card exp. date, now also the resident date (wow). Calling USCIS &/ Infopass appt. would be a very good idea. It sounds like it's correct in their system, which is why they've sent the I-751 back saying it's not necessary yet... and this is where filing the I-90 to replace her card with one with correct dates would come in (you wouldn't have to pay the fee with the mistake being on their end).

    Good Luck!

  7. This morning when I checked to see if the case number from my NOA finally it works I found the following case:

"Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED"

Is this correct? do they call it CRI89 instead of I751?

    I'm confused.

    Tanja

YEAH, I'm glad your NOA # works now! I asked myself the same question about the CR189, and then noticed a note on the bottom (I think) of the NOA itself mentioning this.

  8. We've had 3 different TSC numbers & I posted the following on this thread Case number from NOA, does your's work?:

So, it seems there are at least 3 different receipt #'s?

1st - back of check; 2nd - bio fee receipt; and 3rd - NOA's for appt. notice & ext. letter (same on both NOA's)...

1st & 2nd don't work on the online case status system and the 3rd works for some.

Is this correct, or is each service center different?

P.S. I do know that the 2nd (bio fee #) means something in the system on their end, since we didn't have it with us and it was still included for reference in my husband's passport stamp --- I thought they'd use the NOA #.

  10. Does he still need to carry that around with him all the time (in theory) even though it's expired? We have the letter of extention, but it's not like he'd carry around a letter all the time.

What I have done, is had color photocopies made of my extension letter, permanent resident card and SS card. I carry the copies with me in my purse and the originals are safe at home but easily accessible if need be..

After my husband losing his wallet w/GC, he's said he'll only carry a copy in the future... I wouldn't suggest carrying around a copy of the SS card though.

  11. Hi all,

I thought I'd update you on our situation (husband losing greencard right before filing I-751), especially since I kept going on and on about it right? My husband went to another Infopass appt. this morning with the NOA and passport. Sounds like the officer he spoke with gave him some trouble and almost didn't believe his story. She ended up giving him a make-shift form (piece of notebook paper) to fill out with the date he lost his greencard and when she eventually called him back to collect it, she already had the stamp in his passport.

I just noticed that she didn't use our case application # (I-797 NOA) for reference on the passport stamp, but a different one she must have looked up on their system... it turns out the # she used is the same as the one that was on our bio fee receipt, which he didn't have with him at all.

Well, that's about it... hope it doesn't matter that he said he lost his greencard 2 weeks before he actually did (and before what was included in the petition we filed). :innocent:

    Thanks for all the support,

    Abygail

  12. My husband thankfully just got his passport stamped this morning at the Miami office. It sounded like the officer was hesitant in doing so, but ended up stamping his passport after he filled out a form with the specifics of losing his greencard.:)

I thought we would most likely be turned down and they would only stamp if he was traveling, as in your case... I hope Boston's right and everything goes smoothly for you.
