Hello AOS filers - June 2008,
I notice that most filers they do not updates their personal timeline and they do not share their information, are you worring from evil eye ?!!! i guess we are here to give help to each other even if with sharing some good or bad news about our cases, i always have to look for that thread in the hidden pages, never see it standing more then 2 days in the first page, anyway i do not offend anyone i just want to push some so we can be active and post more and more.
Good Luck everyone !
Maybe there isn't anything to post.
Obviously it is still too early for us to start having MORE to post. The begging of the process is kind of slow and nothing much happens. So maybe that is why this topic is not "boiling" and probably won't be until things REALLY START MOVING.
Just chill out - as we get closer to adjudication dates and everything there will be more being posted I suppose.
-
if you filed your i -130 then you would have needed to send a check for 355.00 as well as the 1010. We filed i-130 and i-485 so therfore we sent two different checks.
Oh ok. No we didn't file the I-130 so that's why.
Thank you so much for the response!
-
Hi everyone!
Did you guys sent one or two separate checks?
We sent just one check for the total amount of $1,010.00. But I see some people talking about "both" checks and that is making me wonder....
-
So USPS really stopped tracking our package. The last update we have was when it left Elk Grove, IL but it doesnt have the "delivered" update.
So we are just supposing it has been delivered and will wait for the NOA in the mail or for the check to be cashed until around June15th.
If by then we don't get any signs of the AOS petition I guess we'll have to make another one and void the check.
It sucks!!!!!
I suggest taking your Delivery Confirmation or Signature Confirmation to the local USPS. They may him haw or tell you they cannot look it up, but they can. I have done this before and was told when the package was delivered.
We did that! but they are a bunch of lazy morons....
We had to finally get a hold of the Post Office manager in Elk Grove Village, IL (where they stopped scanning and the delivery process) through the phone (hard journey until we could get that info) and then they escalated our package and delivered it this morning.
But after 11 days we had originally sent it! and a priority mail should be delivered in 2 - that's what we paid for.
This is some serious BS! It's ok because I have a great feeling about the rest of the AOS journey - so maybe this was all! And I'm praying nothing stupid will happen anymore.

We are June filers I suppose. We sent the application last Friday May30th - but we haven't got the NOA for the application yet it should be coming in this wee. I HOPE!
Weird thing is that we sent via USPS 2-3 business days delivery with tracking number and our package hasn't been delivered yet. I am not freaking out just yet though.

You are missing all the critical things - like Marriage Certificate, birth certificate of the applicant (and translation if needed), G325a, passport photos etc. etc. etc. - I believe you are confused and you need to specify what you are filing for and exactly what did you submit?
I submitted all the required stuff.
I mean for the I-130. Assuming you're adjusting while living in the US on an H1B/F1/B1 as opposed to coming from a K1/K3, I guess.
I see what you're saying now, you need to prove relationship because since you didn't come here as Fiance K-1 or Spouse K-3 - you didn't provide proof of relationship before (as K-1 and K-3 needs to do when petitioning and at the interview in the home Country).
I found this Instructions for form I-130 on the USCIS website, that explains what all documents you should submit as proof of relationship (page #2):
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-130instr.pdf
Apparently what you have gathered seems to be enough for it.
I hope it helps! Good Luck!
-
We didn't submit anything like that. We are a K-1 case, so we submitted only what the directions said to, which meant a marriage certificate. It looks like people have gotten through fine without proving their relationship. They will ask for this kind of evidence at the interview, or when you lift conditions.
I can't see your timeline, so I can't tell if you are a K-1, K-3, or other.
Good to see some other folks from Trinidad around. Good luck!
We didn't send anything like that either, just followed AOS instructions from USCIS and VJ ... and we are a K-1 as well.
If they request for that kind of document (proof of relationship) it's going to be for the interview and lifting conditions.

When did you apply for the replacement SSN card? SSA will issue a new card if you apply for it within 76 days of entry, so if your I-94 expies June 1 and you apply for the replacement May 17 or before, then you applied for it within the time frame allowed. And my I-94 will also expire in June. I got the new SSN card about a week ago.Yes that makes sense now...
I applied for the new SSN card on May 12th and my I-94 will expire on June 12th. So we were within the time frame when we went to the Social Security Office.
-
You wont be out of status, your status is now AOS pending, you will receive NOA1 letter for the I-485 which will prove your status.
SSA is correct, they cannot issue a new card until you either have EAD card or green-card. You need to handle things with SSA within 76 days of entry.
- Hmmm that's strange. I didn't have any problems at all with the SSA issuing me a new card with my new married name (I also had a SSN that I got 2 yrs ago when I was on a J-1).

I couldn't find any info on this either. Someone said they just put NONE, and I just put the A# that was on my K1 visa.
Are you sure there isnt an A# on the visa?
Also I don't think the immigration guy wrote anything on the back of my I-94.
No alien# on her visa which was issued in Rio. I think I am going to use the one on the NOA2 form as this one matches the one written in her passport by USCIS when she was turned away at POE and withdrew her application for admission. This one is also used on the DHS letter for her waiver approval. It just seems odd to me that they wrote the other one on her current I-94. But then again, after dealing with immigration for 3 years, not much surprises me anymore.
My Visa was issued in Rio as well. And they did not stamp the A# on it either.
But the immigration officer wrote it on the back of my I-94 at the Port of Entry (Just so I knew it - He even said "I'm going to write your alien number here for you, because you're going to be using it a lot from now on" ). And the number he wrote matches the A# number found on the final approved I-129F.
So I'm just using that one number.

Hi everybody,
After I got in to the U.S via my K1 visa last month, We legally got married and started to apply for Adjustment of Status (AOS), but there is one thing that we are not sure...is the Non-immgrant Visa number.
Does anybody know where I can find this number in my K1 visa?
Thank you very much for your help in advance.
It's the red 8-digit number on the right.
Yes! The Non-Immigrant visa number is the red 8 digit number to the bottom right on your K-1 Visa Stamp.
And just in case you may also wonder while you're filing, your Alien Number can be found on the approved I-129F petition. It should be located right above your name where it says "Beneficiary"
Good Luck!
-
In my case, the officer at the POE wrote it for me right beside the "admittance stamp"
-
I really don't think it would affect the process... I don't remember the doctor asking about having a tat or piercing either, or I would remember saying "yes" (I have a belly button piercing).
I passed the exams with no harm, you should be alright as well

My wife has her interview on the 7 April 2008, but we have had nothing telling us when or how to book her medical appointment.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks tony.

When she was 10 and I was 30, Major problems.
When she was 20 and I was 40, would raise eyebrows
When she was 30 and I was 50, maybe
Now she is 37 and I am 57, no big deal.
Hehe this was a good one
We're both 21 here, he's six mos older.

LONDON - Amy Winehouse’s visa came through, but not in time for the rehabbing singer to make the trip to Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards, her representatives said Friday.
Winehouse will go ahead with her backup plan to perform live via satellite from a studio in London, where she would also be available to accept any awards she may win during Sunday’s ceremony. Winehouse and her acclaimed “Back to Black” album are nominated for Grammys in six categories.
“Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and timing complications, Amy will not be traveling to the U.S. to perform at the Grammys in person,” the Outside Organization said in a statement.
Winehouse’s original visa application was denied under U.S. immigration rules regarding the “use and abuse of narcotics,” a senior State Department official said Friday, on condition of anonymity because the U.S. Embassy in London’s application deliberations are confidential.
The Department of Homeland Security had been “rapidly” processing her appeal, the official said. But the reversal, barely 48 hours before the beginning of the telecast, came too late.
“Amy would like to thank all of those people, in particular the staff involved at the U.S. Embassy in London, who have all worked so hard to expedite her application,” Outside said. “She is looking forward to being a part of the 50th Annual Grammy Awards with her Sunday night performance and to going back to the U.S. soon.”
Winehouse’s potent blend of blues, jazz, pop and soul has won praise from critics and fans, but her chaotic personal life has increasingly upstaged her music. Concerned family members regularly beg Winehouse to seek help in letters splashed across the pages of British tabloid newspapers and magazines.
Last month, The Sun newspaper ran still images from a video that it claimed showed Winehouse inhaling fumes from a small pipe. The images were said to have been filmed during a party at her London home.
Shortly thereafter, Winehouse entered a London rehabilitation center, and has been questioned by police. Outside said earlier Friday that she was leaving the center to prepare for her performance. It added that the singer would remain under medical supervision.
Weird... I thought she'd have visa waiver since she's european... well who knows.

They send 1 to the U.S. citizen and 1 to the foreign citizen. From what I hear, the U.S. citizen will receive packet 3 much sooner than the foreign citizen. Also, if you go to the ciudad juarez embassy site, you can collect all the needed information ahead of time. The appointment letter you will receive in the mail is required in order to get your medical done and go to the embassy. They allow copies of this letter, so when you get it, scan it or fax it and send it to your fiance as soon as possible, in an e-mail.
I got pack3 way sooner than my USC Fiance but that MIGHT vary from country to country.
The only content the petitioner needs to fill out is the Affidavit of Support really. (Pack3 comes with the forms the USC should fill out, but these are also downloadable from the internet)
One thing that helped our case to go a little faster was the fact that as soon as we knew the Case had left NVC, we calculated the estimate time it should get there and I sent the pack3 requested contents ahead of time (Info available onm most country consulate's website)... so that saved us a good few days or weeks and we got our interview date preety fast.
And when I got the pack3 (and pack4 - it all came together) in the mail I knew my interview date from long ago.
And I guess they sent pack3 along with pack4 just because.
Best of luck!
