Na verdade, você não tem obrigação de alterar o nome no passaporte, desde que a passagem esteja com o mesmo nome do passaporte (tem alguns países que tem problemas com isso) e você esteja com a certidão de casamento original. Eu tentei alterar o meu nome no passaporte aqui no Brasil mas é muito complicado, então desisti. Quem sabe depois que eu estiver aí nos EUA no consulado brasileiro fica mais fácil.Você poderia me dizer quais outros documentos precisa pra fazer isso aí?

Os documentos necessarios:

- Passaporte e Certidao de Nascimento da pessoa Brasileira (a certidao de nasc. tem que ser uma 2 via e com menos de 6 meses! eu levei a minha que eh antiga e por isso nao deu certo p/ mim)

- Passaporte e Certidao de Nascimento do esposo(a) americano.

- Registro/Certidao de Casamento dos US e Brasileiro (se vcs ja tiverem se casado no Brasil)

Oi gente... tenho uma duvida e queria saber se alguem aqui ja passou pela mesma situacao.

Me casei em Maio de 2008, desde o casamento eu nao voltei ao Brasil e estou de passagens compradas para vaiajar mes que vem.

Meu dilema:

- Meu passaporte consta meu nome de solteira e o GC meu nome de casada (+ Marriage License Americana)

- Hoje fui ao Consulado do Brasil p/ registrar meu casamento no com o Brasil tbm (primeiro passo antes de atualizar o passaporte) e descobri que preciso de uma 2 via da minha certidao de nascimento recente (menos de 6 meses) a qual nao posso solicitar senao no cartorio onde fui registrada.

- No fim das contas vou ter de viajar com meu passaporte desatualizado.

Alguem ja passou por esta situacao? como foi na volta com a immigracao? creio que a Marriage License seria suficiente ate que eu volte com a certidao de nasc. e va de novo ate o consulado tentar fazer esse registro e por meu passaporte/titulo etc em ordem.

I had this same question. I am a US Citizen who wants to bring his wife's parents to the US for a visit (from Mexico). My father inlaw does have the house in his name, a bank account in his name with a signifigant amount of money in it. They do have 7 other children in Mexico. They are retired so don't work now. My father in law does get retirement.

What other ways are there to prove you will return? What I have listed is:

Deed to the Property

Bank Statement

Retirement Statement

Phone Bill

Pictures of their 7 kids and 15 grand kids in Mexico.

Police records

Any one have other suggestions?

I too have the same questions. My mom is a home maker and I want to bring her and my little sister to visit my husband and I for a month.

All my mom has to prove income is my step dad's financial information (he's retired). As for evidence of going back... my little sister is in PK, my brother and her husband will be staying in Brazil... plus a document she has as she is my power of attorney in Brazil (I left all my stuff car, house etc for her to take care of and use it) so she really needs to return.

My GC arrived in the mail just yesterday and I was a bit shocked that it came so fast considering all the holidays and etc. But yes! finally! I am relived to not have to deal with USCIS until 2010!!!!

I just saw on USCIS's website that my I-485 has been approved... now I was looking through VJ and I wondered what is the I-551 (or whatever) stamp on passport? I sdidn't have an interview, do I need to have it? I have no clue.

I'm not sure where i'm going how many people will have a BSc or more.....its generally only management from what I can tell (and that is not for me). I'm hopeful that something will materialise nearer the time..which is a good question....how far into the K1 process would be a good time to start applying for jobs?

Not until you get here and have your AOS approved and work permit in hands.

Just received the e-mail from CRIS saying that they sent the request for additional evidence today. I can't wait to know what it is!

I start working next Monday. So I got some butterflies in my stomach!

Oh #######... my AOS got touched A G A I N today and still no updates!!! ergh... ugh... I hope that I don't have an RFE coming. I Want my approval or an interview date.

I received my rfe yesterday. They said my husband's medical is lost. They said it was not in the file which he crossed the border with. He said the border official opened the envelope had a checklist and stated everything was in order so it has been lost in the rigamarow. I called USCIS and asked if we could get the other medical from his doctor in Egypt and they said absolutely not. That he is now in the US, the medical should have been here and he has to go and have it redone, the entire medical check not just transferring the immunizations. We have only until 10/6 to do this. So, we made the appointment for next Tuesday. It will cost a minimum of 200.00. I am so upset because we just paid to have this done in February.

If you can get a copy of the medical from Egypt, do it and send it in response to the RFE.

I got the same RFE. I sent in a copy of the medical from DR and the receipts from the medical - the case was approved.

OR you can take it up with your congressman. They can contact USCIS on your behalf. You already paid for the medical exam and its not your fault that USCIS lost it...

Nada for me either... my last touch was on the same day as yours visao. Actually our timeline is a lot similar... makes me wonder "What the heck did they do touching our AOS on the 22nd and not taking any action afterwards??

Oh guys I'm just so frustrated with DMV!

I went back there today to get my Driver's license renewed since it had expired three days ago and luckily I got the EAD on that same day! so I didn't think it was going to be so hard to get things straight. Here is the deal... in Brazil a child usually has two first names, the mom's name and the father's name - which here is considered as One first name, two middle and one last.

When I got married I changed my name with the Social Security and left my first name, my mom's and my husband's....

but the driver's license I had before getting married said only my first, one middle and my father's last... and went I went there to get it like what the Social Security has, the Immigration! and even my bank statements and marriage license.... but she said she couldn't do it like that because my existing DL's said something else.

And then I was like: WHAT? are you telling me DMV is the only one trying to make me have a name that isn't mine????? I don't care if YOU didn it wrong last time and didn't fit my whole name in the card. That isnt my problem... my full name is "so and so" and I married and changed it to "so and so" and that's what it is with everyone else.

They are so annoying to deal with!!! she talked to the supervisor, manager then the DIRECTOR! and then they finally put it right.

At least.

In the end when things went right she was all like : "Oh Vanessa watch out for your name... you could get in trouble having different names in different documents"

I was like "That is what I'm trying to do... to have my name as simple as possible in all my documents but DMV apparently is the only one who doesn't realize it is not my fault if before you couldn't have my full name on the card and now is giving me trouble"

ARRRGGHHHHH I'm angry today. Even though everything was right in the end.... I'm frustrated and it's raining and it's muggy today.

again I got it in the mail as a sweet surprise

(I knew it was coming when I got that approved AP in the mail with no e-mail notice )

Now I have to star looking for a job and all and get my life back on track again.... Niiiiiice !

Good news! My EAD card just magically appeared in the mail today. I did not receive any CRIS email nor update from USCIS website at all. I-765 still shows as pending . So I guess the approved date on my I-765 was the date card valid from August 16, 2008. Thank God! Thanks all you lovely people for your support & good luck to all!

Oh my fellow brazilian... I know it sounds like cliche but honestly just try to hang in there bc THEY HAVE to get to it and get your papers done.

Also remember that the worst part is getting the freaking K-1 approved.... this waiting for the GC is bananas for us we can do it! since now we are not appart from out better-half anymore

Wow I just got my approved Advanced Parole in the mail - and I wasn't expecting anything since I never got an e-mail saying it was approved or the status on-line was updated. weird but good!!!

- I took my fingerprints again today in Norfolk,VA (our local office) we'll see how this goes from now on....

i think they will. i read a lot of stories here that it is ok to do the biometrics as "walk ins". i will just try my luck.

Do you think they would get your fingerprints done if you just show up there? I'm not sure if they would but you can try calling and see what they can do about it.

i just received a letter from uscis saying the same thing. *sigh* they scheduled me for another biometrics on the 28th but im thinking to just go there on monday. are they open on mondays? i cant wait til the 28th to get this done...
