  1. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about opening a provisional file once the noa2 is recieved so the consolate recieves the case sooner. I have instructions on how to do this but havnt heard of anyone doing this so maybe its not needed or benificial.

I've just tried asking for one with the Moscow embassy. They've answered that they do not do it.

Your milege may vary with your consulate. Give it a try, it will not hurt.

  2. Hey everybody now that we got approved i thought i should join here for my next journey to NVC. So how do i know when CSC sends ma case to NVC. do I call CSC or NVC? am a little confused. and congrats to all approved and good luck to us on our next journey. God bless you all.

A couple of days after my approval I called CSC using the RFE trick and asked them when and if it was shipped to NVC. They were able to tell me.

NVC will not now when CSC sends it, but you should call them about a week after the approval to find out if they received it.

I just received my NOA2 today (Feb 7).

Congratulations! And welcome to the next stage.

  3. HEY GUYS I JUST WANNA LET YOU KNOW THAT WE GOT APPROVED. 4. Hey Geico i feel your pain and i called with the RFE trick this morning and i talked to this very nice lady and she told me my file is on one of the officers desk and its being looked at and she said i should recieve a decision with in the next couple of weeks. You should call them too and see where your file is at. Hope we get our approvals soon.

Thanks Bengalilover and Azezohome and everyone who has been a support.

Azezohome, thanks for share your experience. I will tell my SO to try to do the RFE trick. Last time that He called he didnt get any answer. :crying: :crying:

I praying for all of us that we are in this painful stage of the process. God is with us VJers.

    God bless everyone

    Alicia

Do any of you guys think I should call USCIS Cali Service center? It has been exactly 24 weeks today since the I-130 was received. My lawyer thinks I should leave it alone but, I keep thinking I should call.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

It will not hurt if that's what you are worried about. At best you might get some useful information, at worst they'll just tell you to wait and call later.

  5. Congrats to Karen & Daniel, May filers who received NOA2 yesterday. Give them a big "zomg it's about freaking time" round of applause!

Oh, and here's the note from their timeline: "Took more than 7 months for CSC to send us an RFE for missing to fill in a N.A. besides the None under Family Name of Husband/Wife in form G325A of beneficiary." :(

Glad you're approved now, things should start moving a lot faster for you now.

Thanks Mox, it was such a long wait for us. CSC left our file in the dust, then gave us an RFE for missing that one single N.A.

Yeah! Congratulations Daniel & Karen!

  6. Thanks for the replies above. I appreciate the info.

I have a second question, if I may -- Ira's interested in knowing what things the exam will be checking for. She's a bit paranoid about doctors, and is stressing this thing. Could some of you share your (or your fiancee's) experience getting the exam?

    Thanks!

    Z

Take a look through this thread.

I've also posted a review of our experience with the medical later in the same thread.

I'm sure there are some other reviews if you look around.

  7. Well, today I've called NVC again (as I do everyday) and they told me that it looks like my case has finished processing and waiting to be shipped. What the hell does that mean? Why don't they just ship it?

It's like a fine wine. You can't just ship a petition out once it's been approved. You have to let it breathe a little. Only then is it ready to be shipped. :D

So, we are back to the subject of whine then? :)

I'll ask again: got some good old stinky cheese to go with that?

  8. It seems to me like you walk around - try american women and are not happy - then find russian woman and are not happy with that. The russian woman must become more american for you soon. If you want the russian woman to become totally american in how she dresses and acts, then you should be happy with that........... but you are not.

What are your expectations? What do you really want?

Welcome to our group, Natalia! Here's my answer:

When I was in the Navy, it was my job to learn as much about Russian/Soviet culture as I could. I can't say that I fell in love with the culture (we were in the "cold war," my attitude was one of studying the enemy), but I did come to respect the Russian people very much.

I did not set out to find a Russian woman. And I did not find a Russian woman because I was tired of American women. For me, it just happened through luck. I chatted with Nadya on the internet and found her to be very interesting and engaging. I fell in love with Nadya long before I fell in love with Russia. So for me, the girl came before Russia, and it was never about giving up on American women.

I don't expect Nadya to become an "American" woman. I would be sad if she did become an American woman. I love her for who she is, not because I want her to become something else. I have always understood that I am not just marrying the woman. I am marrying her family and her culture.

I have asked Nadya to leave her home, her family, her friends, and everything she has ever known. To ask someone to give up their life is asking so much. In return, if she wants to do things the "Russian way" in our home, then we will do them the Russian way. If she wants to hang rugs on our walls, so be it. If when you walk into our home you feel like you are 6,000 miles away from the US, then so be it! I can never repay her for giving up her life for me, but I can give her these comforts. Maybe I am slightly inconvenienced because I have to learn a new way to do something. What is this inconvenience compared to what she must go through to live away from her family?

I know she will have to adapt to some American ways. An entire country cannot change itself because of her, and I know she will understand that. She will have to learn how to drive like an American, and if she works then she will have to learn how to work like the other Americans in her job work. I don't think these are problems. But in our home and in our relationship I'll accommodate her wishes. I think it's best like this anyway. The more comfortable I make her, the less homesick she will be, and the more likely she will stay with me.

Thank you for visiting us Natalia, don't be a stranger! Пока!

    Kudos Mox! Excellent answer.

I can only relate from my own experience. I was born and raised in Russia. I came here to the US 16 years ago. I can tell you that I've become americanized. Not completely of course. I'm now a rather strange mix. And looking at other immigrants living in the "immigrant rich" SF Bay Area I can tell you that happens to everyone to some degree, wether they want it or not. I don't expect Elina to remain the same. I know she will adapt to life here in the US. In fact it's already happening. She's been a student here for 3+ years. I would love for her (and myself) to retain as large a part of our Russian roots and culture as we can.

  9. Hi Igor!

Have you heard anything from NVC? We had NOA-2 approved on 1/14/08 @ California Center, NVC received on 1/28/08. I called today but our case is still there....It seems like NVC doesn't really like to approve Moscow or Warsaw petitions

    Заранее спасибо за помощь

Nope, mine is also still in processing. I'm calling them everyday hoping that they'll tell me it's on the way to Moscow, but so far it's still at NVC.

    Незачто :)

  10. Pinch me Igor, I'm not sure if I'm still dreaming. Am I really in the advanced lounge of NO2a to NVC? When I receive the hardcopy in the mail will really be the tell tale that the email was not a mistake. So you think I should wait a week before calling to see if NVC received?

Congratulations again! Yeah, I'd wait about 4-5 work days from the date of your NOA2 before calling.

  11. You're too kind. ;)

    What are friends for! :)

Besides, the west-coast Russian community is small and our wives are bound to run into each other anyway.

And of course we could always make that happen sooner rather then later. ;)

(and when we do meet up...ixnay on the unibrow fetish, okay?)

Gotcha. I gotta warn you though, my girl does read these boards :) And she just might understand en_US@piglatin.po

  12. Yeah. Waiting through all the months you sort of feel like a "Class of..." gang. Only not everyone graduates at the same time, and tonight as all those September approvals rolled in, it really hit home. It's not the approvals so much as it is the gang breaking up and going their separate ways. (Cue David Bowie's "Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes"...)

Hey mox! I'll keep you company. Even though I'm one of those who have moved on to the next stage, I'll stick around here. Besides, I've got a vested interest in here. ;)
