You didn't, but as it is an option for filing, and what you might put into a cover letter would vary massively depending on whether you were filing jointly or with a divorce waiver, the question by @Lucky Cat pertained to that, in order to assist you better.

    Nothing more.

Regarding your question, anything and everything you can find with a joint name on, addressed to you, or shows some aspect of joint life together.

If it doesn't exist you can't include it. Everything else, include it.

Thanks for explaining and the address for filing is same for all states rightV

  2. Hi,

So there are a few things that I think I should explain to them:

    1. I live in a joint family so bills and other stuff is in my father in law's name. I got a notarized letter from him stating the family situation but was thinking to explain it somewhere in the cover letter?

    2. I have added phone bills for about 2 years. Since my mil is the owner of accounts in some bills instead of my name, it's her name but most of them have my name on my number along with all other family members.

    3.  Since I don't have any financial responsiblity toward the house as per my religion and culture, I never had to contribute to anything, except for my own stuff if I wanted to. We opened my bank account in 2019 and my husband was a joint account holder but I used that account only because he has his own account as well. So after a year I started working at a bank and opened an account there. Our joint account was charging us maintenance fees so I had to close it. So I have those joint account statements for about a year but I do have him as a 100% beneficiary on my current checking account. Do I need to explain this to them on the cover letter or somewhere else?

Again I don't have any financial responsibility so we don't need a joint account.

Also, I have added joint tax transcripts for 2019 and 2020 and I am covered under my husband's employer based medical coverage and he is covered under my auto insurance.

We live with my in laws- Do you have a diver license, car registrations, insurances, bank statements?? These will all prove that you live there. You could put a bill or two in your names if that helps. Employment contracts in your names and address?! Just some other ideas. Not sure if you will need to provide proof that your father in laws names on it. It wouldn’t prove you and your partner live there. But you could. I can’t see it being a problem either way.

Yeah drivers license, auto insurance together, phone bills with whole family names on the bills, I can add employement documents and w2s of my husband and me. It has address on it

  4. Me and my husband live with our inlaws in a joint family as a part of our culture like many others. My fil takes care of bills and groceries. We don't pay for any bills. But the question is do I need to submit a proof that it's his house? Although I am sending water and gas bills like one or two and they state his name on them.

You should be able to get IRS tax transcripts from the IRS webpage for each year you have filed joint tax returns. Download the transcripts and include them in your package. You can send along the tax forms as well.

Include your W2 and 1099 from you and your spouse during the marriage (they have both income and common address).

Any official mail addressed to you and your spouse at your home address.

We filed yesterday. It takes three weeks to get the transcript. I have 2019s transcript tho

I prefer UPS myself two-day shipping, get a tracking number and a signature on delivery.

Notarized signatures are not required but are not a bad idea. I had affidavits that were notarized and not notarized in our i751 application. It is not hard to get something notarized but don’t delay your application much waiting for a notary.

    Signatures are a must.

Remember affidavits are weak evidence but are much better than nothing and can be use to tell USCIS your story of your living arrangement with your family

I did get it notarized. So our tax preparer e-filed the tax returns. He gave me 17 pages of a document 1040. Is this the receipt? He told my father in law that this is the receipt

Do not mail the affidavits alone, collect them and include them in your i751 package, if they are mailed to USCIS directly they will not make it into your file at USCIS (retain copies).  Affidavits we use in our application we used the same mailing address we sent the i751 to (but we never mailed them themself).

Yes include previous joint account statements, car insurance together, health insurance coverage, our 401ks beneficiary, and bank account beneficiaries… yes to all of those along with W2s, 1099, even letters mailed to you and your spouse over the course of your marriage.

Look over the information at the sites below for information about writing an affidavit.

Be sure to write a cover letter that summarizes the evidence you have included in your i751 package and explains your living arrangement with your family.

@HRQX is correct, you would only get a i551 stamp if you really needed it due to a gap proof of your LPR status. If you apply soon you should be good. USCIS will only issue a stamp only if you really need one and can prove you need the stamp.

Also, do you think that the affidavit of support from friends and family should be notarized?

We took bank statement, investment brokerage account statement, daugther birth certificate, 3 years tax returns, a picture album, utlitliy bills and few other regular things

    He looked at EVERYTHING

it was a very detailed interview. He asked a lot of questions. cross-questioning meaning questions about me/my family from her. Then questions about her/her family from me.

However, if your case is genuine you don't have to worry about anything. They are primarily trying to determine if you got into marriage to get greencard.

    good luck

I live in a joint family with inlaws. We don't have any bills together because inlaws pay for bills. What should I do. Its our culture because I am from Pakistan

    my wife passed both interviews

then the immigration officer said wait 1 hour I will also do you oath ceremony and get done with everything

now waiting to get the oath ceremony done

my wife came to USA on feb 28th 2018 . Gained USA citizenship in exactly 3 years

    journey finished

Hey, can you please guide me on i751. I am filing this week

  12. Also, I am gonna use fedex for mailing i751, but what address should I use on tbe affidavits from friends?

Because I used a sample online and that was standard address if you are mailing through usps.

Is that okay because I am thinking to mail my package through fedex.

Do I need to include those affidavits in the package or my friends have to mail them to uscis? In case, I include them in the pacakage, does it matter that the address of uscis on the affividavits is the one if you are mailing through usps and I am gonna mail via fedex?

    Thanks

In the case of a new job your only options are to get a i551 stamp from USCIS office or wait until you get the receipt notice in the mail.

The primary thing is to file the i751 on time (before CGC expires) and the application is accepted and not returned. It will take weeks and weeks to learn whether the i751 was accepted and even longer to get an unsuccessful application returned to you. You will know when i751 is accepted when your check is cashed.

Main reasons i751 are not accepted:

Payment issues, some i751 have had credit card not accepted by the bank; I recommend a personal check or money order.

Filing too early (not an issue here)

Including the wrong payment amount (Check USCIS web site for current i751fee plus the biometric fee and how to make out the check) total of i751 fee plus biometric fee.

Sending i751 package to the wrong address. Check the USCIS web page for current addresses for the shipping method you are using.

Not using the current i751 version, please check the USCIS website to download the latest version of the i751 form.

Not signing the i751 form or not signing correctly, make sure the conditional green card holder signs as the petitioner and the USA spouse only signs as the spouse.

Thanks a lot for the detailed response. I have two questions. I live in a joint family unit. My father in law is the head of the house. He takes care of house bills and everything else. My husband only pays for my health insurance and we have car insurance together. We file taxes joinly as married. We had a bank account together but I closed it 7 months ago because we don't have any financial responsibilties together. The house is paid off but it's my inlawd house. So for financial records, I can provide the bank statements from the previous joint account, car insurance together, health insurance coverage, our 401ks beneficiary, and bank account beneficiairies. I am gonna get an affidavit from my father in law stating that we live with him in his house and he takes care of bills and groceries. What should be the text of the affidavit?

    Thanks again for helping me

Your current employer should NOT ask you for new documents or receipts: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/complete-correct-form-i-9/completing-section-3-reverification-and-rehires

    Employers should not reverify:

    • U.S. citizens and noncitizen nationals
    • Lawful permanent residents who presented a Form I-551, Permanent Resident or Alien Registration Receipt card for Section 2. This includes conditional residents.
    • List B documents

I am getting a new job tho

I was able to download IRS transcripts directly from IRS online. Are you waiting for the 2020 tax returns to be processed, perhaps so.

I would wait up to a month after the windows open to file the i751 to get your documents in order, so not much later than 60 days before your green card expires. Legally you can file your i751 application up to the date CGC expires and not be late.

Keep in mind that USCIS is very backlogged at the lockbox processing applications these days; it is taking up to two months for applicants to receive their receipt notices.

Be sure to ship the i751 application with a shipping method with tracking and a signature required just in case you need proof of delivery.

USCIS will credit your application on the date it arrived at USCIS lockbox not the date it was processed so your application will not be late unless they receive it after the expiration date on your green card.

If you have an i751 filed you will be okay even if you don’t get the NOA with an extension letter before your CGC expires which could happen due to the delay in lockbox processing time.

Okay thanks. So it won't be a problem if the I don't receive the receipt? Because I need to give it to my employer
