  1. Hello everyone!

Well, our interview is coming up. July 29th is our date and we're very excited and a little nervous. We have followed things very well so far, and I think all of our paperwork is in order/ready to go. I'm an engineer by day, so attention to details is in my blood. hehe.

I'm just nervous that we're going to get there without a crucial item that we forget or something...Her medical appointments are this Friday, and she's been busy collecting her previous vaccination records and getting new ones. I have a full I-134, with print outs of my past W2s and Tax paperwork, as well as a signed letter on work stationary indicating my salary from my company. I'm also bringing my last 4-5 pay stubs. We have the DS-156 and DS-156K forms (I made four copies), and we have extras of her passport style photographs. She has all her DAS paperwork and she should be able to just pick up the one in Bogota (entry and exit Colombia) as she already filed for it, and paid for it. She is getting her baptism cert there in Bogota. She has her passport, and it's good for a long time. We have a nice collection of photographs, us in the US together, two separate times, with my family in many of them...my down in Colombia with her and her family, us together in California a couple different times etc. I have a long list of gmail emails and chats...around 725 of them. :) I'll print a few special ones, and then print pages showing the list of emails/chats. Plus I have a number of hand written letters etc, before she went to Colombia and the mail service no longer worked. ;)

One thing I'm a little nervous about is her birth certificate. They list a very specific thing on the paperwork, (not the short form, has certain info and a copy of the folio). Well, she said all the info they are looking for is there...I asked about the folio part as I have no clue what that is. She said it has the folio number on it. Can anyone here please send me a picture of what exactly is needed? I promise I won't print/misuse your birth certificate...I just want something to send to her to see if it's what she has. Is it just a folio number? Or an actual document she needs?

She was never married, no arrests, no immigration issues and no military history so all those items are not needed.

    Anything we're missing here?

I'm looking forward to a week in Bogota...never been there before. She has family and friends there, so we're staying with them and I'm gonna meet some of her extended family. :)

Good luck to everyone else still out there.

    Ben

    Ben,

It is good to be nervous but it sounds like your Fiance has everything in order. I don't have a copy of my wifes birth certificate but it is an actual document that lists her parents and birth place and it is stamped with a number from what I believe is the record book that it is kept in, and I believe they call this the Folio Number. I could be mistaken about the definition of the number there are far better experts on this site. But from what you wrote it sounds like everything is in order. I don't know everything that she will need for the K-1 Visa but I am sure that they are similar to the CR-1 Visa.

Some of these documents you may have already submitted and the Embassy may have them but it always help to take them with you to the Interview.

    DS-230-I

    DS-230-II

    PASSPORT

    BIRTH CERTIFICATE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT

    MARRIAGE TERMINATION

    FINANCIAL EVIDENCE

    CUSTODY PAPERS

    MILITARY RECORDS

    COLOMBIA POLICE CERTIFICATE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT

    PHOTOGRAPH

Then she also needs the letter from the DAS.

  2. Congratulations Dennis. I told my wife that your wife's visa was approved and she also sends her congratulations.

Congratulations also to to Diana and Andres. It's about time those boobs at the embassy stopped jerking you around.

    CQ,

Thanks for your note. Adriana is very happy :dance: but very busy these days getting everything ready to travel. I made the reservations this weekend, I will fly there on the 21st of August and then we will retutn on the 24th. Her POE will be Houston instead of Los Angeles. We couldn't get a good flight from Bogota to Los Angeles. But everything is looking good.

Your surprise for your wife sounds fantastic.

    Diana and Andres,

Congratulations  , I should have sent my best wishes earlier but I haven't been online for a few days.

    Dennis

  3.   Yay!!! congratulations!!!!!

I am sooo happy for you!!! So when is Adrianna coming??? Where is her POE?

    I hope everything goes smoothly!

    Lots of luck!

    Diana

    Hi Diana :star: ,

Thank you, Adriana is teaching and she has been setting everything up so she can travel the weekend of August 16th. I was talking with her tonight to let me know when she wants me to come to Bogota. But she will decide that this week. Her POE will be Los Angeles. At least that is what I am planning.

    Thanks again,

    Dennis

  4. Hey Dennis,

We are thinking about you and your wife today. My wife asked me to wish you two good luck. I think she may have emailed your wife in the last few days. Let us know when you get some news.

    CG

    CG,

I am waiting nervously now, I told Adriana I will call her at 3:00 pm Bogota time so I am hoping for good news. Thanks for your thoughts.

    Dennis

"GOOD LUCK DENNIS AND ADRIANA"

I think you guys are well prepared...you shouldn't have any problems

Thanks Scott and Yenifer for your thoughts and good wishes.

  5.:dance::dance: Thank you Everyone At Colombia Club :dance::dance:

Adriana's interview went well and they gave her the Visa. She decide to have fun with me though before telling me. I called her at 3:00 Bogota time and when she answered the phone it sounded like she was crying and upset. I was fearing the worst and she told me that the CO at the Embassy wanted to talk with me. Oh, I felt so bad and told her I would fly down this weekend and we could go in next week. Then I asked her what happened and she said he was asking many questions about my first marriage and about her first marriage.

Then she started laughing and saying she got her Visa. She about gave me a heart attack. I didn't realize that I married a joker  so now I need to watch out for her.:thumbs:

But we are both very happy tonight. My dreams are coming true. I don't think this would have all been ppssible without all the great advice I have received from Colombia Club and others here at Visa Journey.

    I will sleep good tonight.

    Thanks again,

    Dennis :dance::dance::dance:

  7. Wow, after reading about Andres and Diana's problems at the Embassy I am a little worried and nervous. My wifes interview is in the morning and I am praying that everything goes well. I wanted to go to the Interview but she was insistant that I wait and if necessary go to the second interview if necessary so we could save money.

We went over all the papers tonight and she asked me some questions and how to pronounce the names of my family. I told her just to be honest with her answers, keep the answers short so they don't try to confuse her and if she didn't know an answer to just be honest and say she didn't know.

I know we have plenty of evidence, emails from me and my family, cards from me and my family, phone bills, and photos from all our trips together.

I think I maybe more nervous then she is but I will be praying all night tonight and going crazy at work tomorrow waiting for news.

I am very sorry about Andres and Diana's situation and cannot believe the Embassy is this disorganized.

    Dennis

  8. My wife has her medical appointment on Thursday and then the Interview is on the 15th. She has everything I believe, and the Embassy is supposed to have the rest. I just want to inquire with the group to ensure we haven’t forgotten anything.

My wife has her Baptismal Certificate and the letter from DAS. She will have her Medical Examination and Vaccinations prior to the Interview She also has her photographs and passport.

The Embassy should have the following according to the letter we received from the NVC:

    OF-169 FORM NOT NEEDED

    OF-230-I YES/DOCUMENT COMPLETE/REVIEWED

    OF-230-II YES/DOCUMENT COMPLETE/REVIEWED

    PASSPORT YES/DOCUMENT COMPLETE/REVIEWED

    ADOPTION FORM NOT NEEDED

    MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT RECEIVED

    MARRIAGE TERMINATION ORIGINAL DOCUMENT RECEIVED

Are we forgetting or missing anything? Should I send her copies of the Financial Papers (I-864 and Tax Documents)?

  9. Keep hanging in there Ken. We flew into Cartagena on Spirit yesterday, July 2. Not that bad, to be honest. Security was tight and yes... it was raining a LOT. We bussed through Barranquilla at night and it was a complete MESS with the rain.

I'm flying direct to Barranquilla tomorrow night. I chose a direct flight to that city since delays back to Cartegena could prove problematic in the case of closed roads on the day of my return flight. I still have not heard directly from Onelis. Phones are completely down. No email, nothing. So, it will be a complete surprise when I arrive to their home on Wednesday.

Objectives for this trip are to get 2 passports (for her and little son), vaccines at Red Cross, Birth Certificates, and police clearance. I will keep everyone posted on the developments.

    -Ken

    Ken,

I wish you lots of Good Luck and I hope everything turns out well and your Fiance and her family are safe and well.

  10. I was granted a visa last year febreruary 9, 2007 and came to america a week after I had my visa since the first time I cam here I was surprised of everything here all I see from his family is fighting to each other and destroying each other shout there, shout here, shout infront and shout at the back, almost 1 and half year now but everything seems the same he is obssessed of other things and he forgot he has a wife here and putting all the angry out on me, he never like my family specially now that we are getting divorce, because on his beleif my family is brainwashing me to separate him including my sister in pensacola which is all untrue, I just cannot breath being with him anymore, I got tired and burn out for every fight and always accusing other people for mistakes and counting every inch he spend for me, I am not even allowed to go anywhere without him all is must be on his way eventhough he is telling me it is not always on his way and I got spoiled, My ex-boyfriend knows what happening to me because he seen it and he is the one who makes me confident all the time, my husband said that this marriage was destroyed because of me having another man also where we started talking last december, but it is not really true November is the biggest fight we have and calling me all kind of names, over his family and I got burn out on that time and I started asking divorce on that time but he never do it he just do the divorce last March, I would love to be with my ex-boyfriend because I knew him for a long time, my husband withdraw his petition for me on financial status to the immigration or he withdraw the affidavit of support for me, and he is not giving me any kind of documents i can use so that I can apply for I-751 adjusting of status like the Tax and credit cards statement. hope anybody can help me.

I may be mistaken but I don't think he can witdraw the Affadavit of Support. Once it is filed it is in place until you have worked for the time called out on the Affadavit. You can check with Immigration or a Lawyer on that though.

  11. Hi

I feel pretty sad now. I have prepared for so long for this interview. But they didn't issue me the visa but kept my passport and asked me to wait another 4 to 6 weeks. The consul gave me a piece of paper saying I have to send them my CV besides my case is pending administrative process. It's so strange. I also asked the consul if there is any problem. He said it's no problem of my interview and he's sure I will get the visa and congratulations to me. Did anybody experienced this before? People normally get visa at the same day, right? Then what's the problem of my case? The consul also said no person was issued the k3 visa at the same day.

Hang in there Mini, the government is slow but I am sure everything will go well for you. Don't get depressed or stressed everything will go well.

    We wish you the best,

    Dennis and Adriana :dance::thumbs:

  12. It was a miracle, but we received the approval for the visa today.

The interviewer told my husband that she did not believe anything he said.

The interviewer talked with me about visa fraud.

She did not accept my comment on the fraud in relation to my husband.

The she said he is 26 and you are 51.

She listened as I made three comments on the age thing.

Then she said she would not stand in the way and would call my husband back in and tell him his visa was approved.

I´ll post more tomorrow after I have time to let it all sink in and I have all the details from my husband. Should be helpful to others with a significant age difference. Thanks for all the help VJers.

    Joanne and Manuel

Congrats and Best Wishes for a great Future together

  13. I lost contact w/Onelis 3 weeks ago. It's been driving me crazy, but thankfully Carl pointed me in the direction of a local businesswoman who can help out by visiting her home and discussing our case with Onelis.

Thread in "Off-Topic" - "Where did she go?"

Keeping my fingers crossed that this gets resolved quickly and we get back on-track w/our K-1 a.s.a.p.

    -Ken

    Ken,

I hope you get good news soon, I know it is difficult having so much distance in a relationship. I think we all have some experience in that area.

    Dennis

  14. We were also puzzled by this and did not want to go through the hassle of getting additional original documents. But we did make copies of everything before we sent them to the NVC and that's what we took to the embassy with us. Once we got there, the embassy had everything we had sent the NVC with the DS-230 and I-864 so there was not need to bring all that stuff.

If you have copies, you should be ok.

    Diana

    Diane,

Thank you for posting your response. We are getting ready for my wifes interview on July 15th and I was reading that statement in her appointment letter and told her I would send her all my documents and gave her a list of things to have copied of too. She is very conservative and gets a little angry with me for sending things FedEx and spending money but i figure it is better to have to much information then not enough.

    Dennis

  15. Dennis,

Too funny! I just talked to my wife and it looks like they did meet. I won't mention names on an open forum, but ask your wife if she and the other lady were laughing at an old guy holding a baby. When I asked my wife about it, she busted out laughing and said that she thought that she knew who it was. If it turns out that we are right about them meeting, please tell your wife that mine doesn't currently have email access at home so she might not return emails quickly. If she has any questions for my wife, just drop me a PM and I'll relay the message.

As far as being there for the interview, several women were approved without their husbands there, but a few weren't. You will probably be OK especially since you had the two weddings and have lots of pictures.

    Peace,

    CG

    CG,

Yes, that is my wife, I was talking to her on the telephone tonight and reading her your letter. She was laughing mucho when I read the part about the old man and the baby. I told her I will send her all the information that you post on the Interview. She said to say Congratulations and hopes all will go well now that your wife has the visa.

    Dennis

  16. Dusty,

She will need two documents from DAS. One is a "Certificado Judicial" which shows any prior criminal issues. The other is a sealed "Carta Migratoria" from DAS in Bogota which shows any exits or entries into Colombia.

I would recommend that you go to the interview if you can. The only denials we saw on our day where for wives who didn't come with their husbands or that did not have photo evidence. Some where approved without their husbands there, but a few that we talked to were told to come back with their husband.

BTW, the so called "Witch" was actually quite cordial and pleasant. In fact, everyone we dealt with at the embassy was nice and very helpful. No one treated us badly in the least.

    Good luck,

    CG

    CG,

Thanks for the reply and Congratulations. I am not sure but I think my wife may have talked with your wife when she when to get her laboratory work completed. She mentioned she was talking with a woman who had her interview the next day. She was going to ask her about getting the vacinations and where she received them. They exchanged email addresses. I had told her she may not be able to get an email from the woman if she received her Visa she would be preparing to travel but she said she was not traveling until September because she was doing something with her Grandmother. She is still insistant that I don't come down for the Interview but i made a nice book of all our photos and the wedding in San Andres and the Wedding in Cucuta with her family.

I worry a little about the interview and would like to be there. I think our photos and the cards and letters from my family will show we have a good relationship and we are not that far apart in our ages so I will pray everything goes well. I will be looking for your post on the details of your Interview and the questions they asked. My wife wants me to quiz her with questions but I told her just be honest and be direct with your answers.

    Thanks again,

    Dennis

  17. she is going to have to have her clininc and medical exams done in bogota, and she will probably need extra vacination shots also.

also, she will have to go to the bank near the embassy and pay the interview fee.

she should go to bogota a few days early to complete all this paperwork.

she needs to call the medical office and make a reservation for the medical exam.

Thanks for the response. My wife is living in Bogota she has scheduled her medical exam and everything. I paid the Interview fee through the NVC here in the states. I think we have everything but i am always checking to make sure we haven't forgotten anything.

    Thanks,

    Dennis

  18. My wife has her CR1 interview on July 15th. She has yet to receive her Packet 4 from rthe embassy in Bogota but I FedEx'd her the package that was sent to me. Now all our documents have been submitted to the NVC and I am assuming shipped to the embassy in Bogota. The only documents that she will have with her when she gors is the DAS letter, her medical information, the Interview letter, and all our evidence. I told her I would fly down to go to the Interview but she said her friends said it wasn't necessary so I am not going. When she gets in the first line where everyone says the "Witch" asks for the documents, is she going to need anything besides the above mentioned documents. The CO should have all the other documents I am assuming.

  20. Oh yes, yes, the NVC will have her Certificado Judicial. I've spent too much time in the Colombian K1 thread and got the visas confused.

So again, the only thing she will need to get is the Carta Migratoria and Baptismal Certificate. The NVC will send everything else to the embassy.

Have they told you when you will have your interview date? If not, the NVC should be able to tell you by Monday of next week if they completed your case last week.

    Diana

One more question, What is the Carta Migratoria? I am not sure what this is and I didn't see any information on it. Where would my wife get this document?

    Diana

    Diana,

Thank you very much for the information. When I called the NVC on Friday 6/6 the recording only said that the case was approved and sent to the Embassy on 6/4. I will tell my wife that she needs to get her Baptismal Certificate and the Carta Migratoria. They haven't given us an interview date yet but I will try to call next week and ask them.

    Thanks again,

    Dennis

  22. You both should be receiving packet 4 any time now but since the mail system in Colombia is below average, she might not get hers but she can use the one you receive. The embassy will receive all the documents you sent the NVC but she still needs to get her Certificado Judicial and Carta Migratoria from the DAS and her baptismal certificate.

    Diana

The NVC had us send them her Certificado Judicial and she has never applied before so she doesn't have a Carta Migratoria. Won't the NVC send her Certificado Judicial to the embassy?

  23. My Timeline is not current but our I-130 Package was approved by the NVC and according to the NVC phone message all documents have been sent to the Embassy in Bogota as of June 4th. How much time is required before my wife will receive the packet 4 from the Embassy? I was reading on the Embassy Website about the packet and all the documents. We submitted all the documents to the NVC so the embassy should have everything shouldn't they? My wife will not have to get new copies will she?
