  1. I am going from glasgow to london... I rather stupidly agreed to a morning appointment which made matters more difficult. But I will call tomorrow to see if I can get an afternoon appointment.

But not only is it difficult finding a way to get there on time, but I don't know how long the medical will take so I'm unsure of how to go about booking the return journey.

    Anyone any tips on this?

It's 13th of February at 10:10am (for the time being).

  2. Back when I did my I-129f, I was persuaded by my fiancee to sign my name in full and make it legible (because that's what Americans do, apparently), instead of the first initial followed by a scribble I normally do. So I did. I signed the I-129F that way.

Now I'm at the packet 3 stage, I'm wondering if I should stick to that fake signature (a signature that I barely even remember), since the immigration officer will wonder why my real signature is so different from the signature on the I-129F, even though I signed both.

  3. Well I just got UK passport pictures taken because I had to renew my passport and I had some excess copies left over. When I got packet 3, the measurements given where virtually exactly the same as the pictures I had. So I just plan to use my UK passport pictures for immigration purposes.

  4. Thanks for the replies.

I have another stupid question which I forgot to ask. When signing the I-129f, my fiance convinced me that I had to write my full name and make it legible. I have always just signed my name as the first initial, then the last name which wouldn't be very legible.

So when signing further documents for immigration, should I just do my normal signature and risk them asking why the signatures are completely different? Or should I try to do what I did the last time, even though it will probably be different anyway because I can't remember exactly how I did it?

  5. I sent away for a new passport last Thursday, and I should have it 2 weeks from that day... Should I arrange a medical now anyway? If they are going to give me a date quite far off into the future, then I'd be as well to get it now, but if it's sooner than expected I may not have the passport on time and have to pay a cancellation fee.

Vaccination records... I am going to make an appointment tomorrow with a GP to see if they have any such records on me. I haven't been to any kind of medical practice since 1994, so any further info from anyone here would be appreciated.

Me and my fiance did not make copies of the i-129f forms we sent, I hope this is not going to be a big deal. She is going to post me evidence that we sent along with the petition and the NOA2 letter. More pictures, emails, etc... Anything else she should send me?

I think those are all my questions for now... I am generally confused and worried I'm leaving something out that will cause delays or a rejection later :help:

  6. I can't remember where I read this, but something about needing to have the evidence sent in the I-129f present at the interview. I have none here in Scotland... except some digital pictures, some emails, and flight schedules (which was sent along with the i-129f anyway).

Will my fiance in America need to send me anything? Might as well get a head start before I might be requested by the immigration people.

  7. My passport expires on September 24th 2008, and I've become aware that it will have to be valid for at least 6 months from the date of the interview. So it's going to be pretty tight.

Should I get a brand new passport? Or is there a way of just adding some time on to my existing passport? Or should I just wait to see if my interview date falls before the 6 month deadline and then just fast track it if it goes later than that?

How long do they take to renew generally and how much?

  8. Our NOA2 was delayed compared to most time lines on this website, but we are just happy to finally get it!

My fiance (in America) is worried because she heard something about having to have copies of basically everything we sent them in the 129f. Is this true? We still have the 'evidence' and birth certificates etc, but the actual forms we filled in we have no copies. Is this a problem?

My fiance is also worried that if she takes a college course, would it look bad on our proof of support? She would still work full time.

Do I (in Scotland) get Packet 3 or does my fiance in America? What is required of us in Packet 3?

  9. When I called the last time, they have you put in your reciept number and then a prerecorded message tells you what it says online, then they say "Our reps do not have any additional information...etc"

Is there still any way of getting through to a rep? And if so, is it advisable? You'd think they'd be pissed and ignore your case further still.

I am only asking since on my timeline, visajourney specifically states I should call.

  10. But I'm guessing that would be nothing but an annoyance to the immigration folk? I also read somewhere here that the immigration folk were saying that more calls just meant that their application would be delayed longer.

I got my NOA1 in June 25 this year. Many people have already got their NOA2's from the same service centre who are also from the UK... even those who filed a whole month after me. It seems that when I search by that criteria and sort by NOA1 date, that the CSC folk are missing me out and going on to those who filed after me.

Should I call? Or wait? If I call what should I say? I mean they DID say 7 months at the most, and it's only been 5.5 months... but visajourney says I should call?

  11. When I filter CSC and sort by NOA1 date... I see that many people who filed AFTER me already have their NOA2.

I know it will probably come eventually, but this is just making an intolerable wait even worse.

Why is ours not approved. I was hoping to be there by February 08 and that doesn't look likely since there is a typical 3 month wait between NOA2 and Interview.

This is just hard to take... APPROVE IT ALREADY!!!!

  12. I just noticed that some people are getting asked "how did you get engaged" at the interview. Me and my fiance didn't really make it official... It was just always accepted for the last few years that we'd go through the immigration process, get married and that will be that. No engagement rings, no getting down on one knee or anything like that.

But how should I answer the "how did you get engaged"?

Also, what if they notice I'm not wearing any ring? Should I wear one just in case?

  13. How many locations are there for getting a medical done? Is it a foregone conclusion that I will have to travel down to south England?

Yep, it's only the one place in London for the whole of the UK. Crazy, huh?! It would be much better if there was one each in England, Wales, Scotland, and N. Ireland, or at least England, Scotland, and N. Ireland.

Yes, it's completely insane and unfair.

However, I will quite happily fly to the other side of the world if it means I can get a visa

  14. Why is everyone in the world either a red sox fan or a yankees fan?

    Bunch of front runners!

I'd love it if the Indians beat both of these lame teams, and with a fraction of the pay roll too!

  15. Much of 'alternative medicine' is merely placebo and power of suggestion. I'm not gonna say all of it is bogus, but take something like homeopathy for example. It is completely BOGUS. It basically just uses water (yes, water) as a medicine, and because the patient believes it is a cure, they don't feel the pain as much.

Much like telling someone they have taken a painkiller when they have really had a sugar pill and magically the pain is reduced through the power of suggestion.

  16. I don't know if I'll get a reply in time before I go to the police station 9 hours from now. I will probably get this question answered at the police station, but I'm not sure if they know a lot about immigration stuff...

At the end of this form I come to this:

PLEASE INDICATE IF INFORMATION IS REQUESTED FROM THE POLICE NATIONAL COMPUTER (FOR CONVICTIONS IN ENGLAND/WALES) *YES/NO

AND/OR THE SCOTTISH CRIMINAL RECORDS OFFICE *YES/NO

If you have been involved in a specific incident for which you now require information please supply us with as much information as possible to enable us to find it. (this should include, where possible, time, date, place and type of incident)

Do I say yes to both? Or is this only if you HAVE a criminal history? Or do I need to say YES so that I can prove to immigration I have no criminal offences?
