  1. Hey all I have a question if anyone can answer it, it would be greatly appreciated! Now that i have my green card is it possible to apply for a US passport? I'm just curious at this point, but I want to travel back to Canada to be with my daughter when she gives birth to my first grandchild in Feb, so was just wondering if I could get a US passport or do I have to wait till I go through naturalization?

Thanks to all who can respond!

I know that I can still travel with the green card,I was just wondering!

  2. Hey all, boy the grass doesn't grow under USCIS's feet once ya get things movin, lol! I recieved my green card in the mail today, when I check the web site it said that the approval notice has been mailed so I figured that would be the next thing I would get in the mail because they said it would be a few weeks before the card would come and low and behold the card arrived before the approval notice, lol isn't that a corker, lol!

Anyway ya'll have a great one!

  3. We have our interview on September 10 at 1:00 pm, and I am looking to purchase airline tickets to come back. Does anyone know when the visa can be picked up after approval? Is it the same day, or since our interview isn't until 1 pm, will it be the next day? Just curious to all of those who have gone through the Vancouver Consulate. Thanks!

hey there, you will be able to pick up your visa next day after 1:00pm, then can be on your way! I went through Vancouver back in January and it was as easy as pie, lol Good luck with your interview, oh and by the way don't worry the people at the consulate as very very nice, just relax and be yourself and smile!!

  4. Hey everyone hope this finds all of you happy and healthy!

I have some questions and hope that anyone who might have the answers would let me know what to do and how to go about it? This is more for those of you who have moved from Ontario to Texas and I'm sure there are a few of you?

Ok, long story short, because of my accident I am unable to travel back to Ontario until we have no idea when because of the long healing process, anyway my belongings are still in Ontario and I would really like to get them down here, we were thinkin of using movers or a company of sorts that does this kind of thing, the question who could we use, it would require the company (whoever) to go to my sisters home to pick everything up, then have it deliveried to us down here? the next question is anyone know what the cost might be??

before the accident we had planned on flying up and renting a truck and doin a one way rental, and we knew that with gas prices the way they are that it would cost so then since then well we were thinkin that maybe we could get a mover of some sort to do it? So does anyone know or have an idea, any info would be greatly appreciated!! I would really love to get my belongs down here finally! Especailly now that I'm a permanant resident here, and that we bought a new house it would be nice to make our new house a home!

you all have a great one ok!!

  5. Hey all sorry haven't been on lately still recovering from my accident, has been along and slow process but I'm getting better!

Anyway just wanted to let all of you know that we got word by way of e-mail that my AOS has been approved as of Aug 12th 2008, a welcome letter has been mailed out and my green card has been ordered! We are so happy, we didn't even have to go for an interview, which is cool, but either way we have been approved! So ya for us! Good luck to all of you!!!!

  6. Hey everyone just wanted to let ya'll know that i got my EAD card in the mail today and also recieved my AP in the mail the other day now just have to wait for my AOS lol, EAD and my AP don't do me any good now at the moment, I kinda had an accident a little over a week aog and broke my back in 2 places, so now i'm in a brace fro serval months, I got thrown fro one of my horses, so now I can't work or travel for awhile but hey at least I know i can when I'm ready!

  7. Arnold will be visiting me from Canada on June 30 to August 6.

We have yet to file our I-129F.

Would it be better for us to wait to file until he gets here so I can list this trip on our Declaration of meeting?

It will be his first visit here and it will be our longest time together by far. (Both of my previous trips have been five days long)

    or

Can I include the receipt and email for his ticket from the airline in the evidence here if I file before his departure date?

We're hoping to get married next July, Vermont is our service center, and Montreal is our consulate if that helps at all with the wait or ASAP filing question.

If I were you and i was once Don't file till he gets here because he will be refused at the border if you file now because it will be in the system, When my husband and I filed we wait till after i arrived for a3 month stay to file, and our lawyer had advised is to do that, because like said they will refuse him if he has a visa pending,! But guess it is up to you to but hey whats a couple three weeks you've waited this long,? Oh and they will question his length of stay in the US even though he's allowed just make sure he has enough money in his account to show them if they ask and that he has strong ties to Canada. Good luck on what ever choices you make!

Oh and keep everything, and I mean everything just to make sure in case when the time comes for your interview that if they want proof of anything you'll have it from concert tickets to hotel reciepts everything!

  8. Hey there everyone! I received a transfer notice in the mail today for my AOS saying that our case file has been transferred to the CSC to speed up the process ( ya right!!!) anyway was just wondering that with the transfer does that mean we might get approved without an interview? I mean it doesn't really matter one way or the other just so long as I get the approval, but I was just curious! I've read on here from time to time that some get the approval without the interview when their case was transferred to CSC!

So if anyone knows one way or the other any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Ya'll have a great day!

Did you receive some e-mail or update online about this transfer also?

    :)

Nope didn't receive a thing just went to get the mail today and the notice was there, i even checked the website and there hasn't been any movement on it since the 22'nd of May, so i really wasn't expecting anything, so i was surprised when i opened it and it was a transferr notice so all is good with the world! HEHE!!

Congratulations! Wow, that's a great news for late April filers!

Laynie, could you please put transfer date on your timeline, too? That helps the rest of us assuming possible transfer date ;)

thanks for reminding me, i put the transfer date in, so it's all set! thanks again!

  9. Typically a transfer results in approval without interview, though I have seen a few get sent back to NBC to be sent to field office for interview. Ours went to CSC and got approved without.

Time to update profile, you are no longer K-1, you are AOS (Pending)

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...rCP&CODE=01

Help Please, I would greatly appreciated it! Thanks in advance! LOL! oh Never mind you did help me LOL I found it thanks to your help and it has been changed, I am now AOS pending! LOL!! Thaks again!

  11. Hey All! Hope this finds everyone happy and adjusted lol!

I have a question? Is there a USCIS web site that we can register in order to check on line for status of our AOS? Like we had for checking on the K-1 petition? I have my reciept numbers but not sure where the web site is! Any help would be greatly appreciated! i had my Biometrics done today, and the guy told me to expect my EAD card in the mail, he just didn't say when! Anyone have any idea how long it takes after you have the biomets done?

Ya'll have a great evening and a wonderful new day tomorrow!

  12. Hey all how ya'll doin?

We filed for my AOS now the question is, is there some way I can track as to what is happening with our application like we were able to with the K-1 petition?

Dummy me for the life of me I can't even remember the web site I had to go to check our status and to see if there had been any movement, it's so weird, my mind draws a COMPLETE blank, you's think I 's have that burned into my memory since I kept check a billion times a day while we were waiting, Hope someone knows, and I'm sure they do because this is VJ you guys know everything! Thanks in advance guys really appreciate the help on this!!

Ya'll have a great day ok!

  14. Well I've been looking all around the forum and didnt find any thread regarding my question so here it is:

Of what I read, most couples go together for the interview....But me and my fiance arent sure yet if he would be able to make it as he is the owner of a company and he got severals obligations so

Is it really a big of a deal to go alone at the interview??

Is there anyone who went alone and it went well?? is it better to go with your partner?

thanks anyway for your answers, comments, or suggestions

Hi there! answer to your question no your fiance doesn't have to be there with you but the option is there if he chooses to be!

I had my interview in Vancouver and my fiance had planned on being there with me but his father became gravily ill and we decided it would be better if he stayed with his dad just in case something were to happen, so I went to the interview alone, the Consulate officer was very nice, although i don't know what Montreal is like I'm sure you will be fine, just take a deep breathe and relax and look them straight in the eye and be honest, thats it, easy as pie!

I'll be honest I was nervous but once I got there I was fine!

I'm sure you will be as well! Good luck once you get your interview date!

Our interview is coming up this week any info on this would really great! I'm nervous about it all but now my SO might not be able to make it for the interview , his dad was rushed to hospital last night, he is not doing so good, so I HAVE to do this myself, and I know that I can but I am so worried about my SO he is really close to his dad and he NEEDS to be there, and I wouldn't expect any less from him! It's just making me more nervous is all because I want to be with him so bad at this time when he needs me the most, so I have to get this right all the way through so that I can get home to be by the family's side! 19. Hey everyone! Is it true I read on a post here yesrterday, that the visa fees went up from $100 US to $131 US is this true for sure because I'm going to the bank on Friday to pay the fee! Our interview is scheduled for the 17th of January in Vancouver! Can anyone please shed some light on this because I can't find any info on this, I want to make sure that I pay the right amount so that they can't say no because I didn't pay enough!!! My fiancé received his appointment letter a few weeks back. It's set for January 17th in Vancouver, but at 1am?! I am guessing that this is a typo, but I wanted to ask to see if the consulates actually do interviews at bizzare times like that? Kyle tried to e-mail them and ask, but never got anything back. Does anyone know? Thanks!
